Word of Chaos - Necro charm
# Aug 20 2007 at 11:34 AM Rating: Decent
I never charm as a necro because my pet works great compared to my druid and enchanter pets, but I was kind of excited to get the level 70 charm. I wanted to go up to Hate and charm some of the undead there.

Ack! The charm breaks when I feign death. Grrrrrr.. what a surprise. Guess I'll have to live with it. I'll probably die with it, but we'll see.

the spell duration is incorrect this spell lasts for 10mins, and also in the Uqua zone charming the Spectral Trushar with this spell after its tshed/maoed is a great way to add 2k DPS to your raid.

Just wanted to comment on the 65 charm spell. People complaining about it not lasting but 30seconds is crazy. I charm commanders in Veksar on a regular basis at the highborn area and I get the charm to last 13+ minutes all the time. Yes it is a luck of the draw and you do get the occasional charm that drops after a few seconds but your chance of getting a charm to stick greatly improve if you use magic resist lowering spells on the target you are charming. I personally use orb of tishan to cast on my soon to be pet and I can't wait to get the 70 spell. Anyway I was just commenting because so many people crying about the charm not lasting. Try learning how to charm and see how long it lasts I got well over 100aa in veksar solo charming. Also wanted to comment on the magic resist of the mob and your charisma. The necros charisma is a secondary check to the charm Magic resist of the mob is still the number one check to how long the charm lasts.

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 16 2004 at 1:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well, I don't know if anyone noticed, but in the very beginning, when this spell was first posted or whatever on Alla, it had a (-200) MR, which means that you would have a basically non-resistable, full lasting 7 min charm. Of course, they nerfed it, and now the only good thing about it is that with this spell you can charm undead higher than lvl 61, or whatever the cap was for the 65 one.

I dont know about you and how far you've progressed into PoP, but in the undead trial in timeB we usualy only have one chanter and/or one sham. the necros are expected to DPS, keep the few healers FM, and assist slowing. If we had a few necros with the new mez we souldnt need to have an enchanter there and he could be somewhere else thats needed such as the air or fire trials.

You gotta be kidding me. The 65 charm has a max 20.5 sec duration for 500 mana. And now we get to level 70 and the new charm only has a max of 7.5 min and cost over 800 mana. Has Soe lost their friggin minds?

The point is, dare you charm something for 20 minutes?7.5 minutes is long enough because the charm will break before 7.5min anyway
charm ya right

I think by 'fix' he means, 'make weaker'? That's the only 'fix' I could see possibly happening...

[ /sarcasm ]

Dood, most Necro spells have a negative resistance modifyer to them, meaning they simply don't get resisted as much. Add that to their insanely overpowered DoTs (yes, I'm talking about Darkness line and the Venom line here), and the fact that they can Root, Invis, get a Pet, AND get Dire Charm (undead only) on top of this, and Necros are one of the most powerful classes in the game. Plus, they act as mini-healers at the low levels, as mana-sinks at the higher levels, and can STILL out-solo you. Unless, of course, you're a higher level Necro.

And we get cool mana regen, too. So there.
YAY!

I hope they put some neg magic modifier on this. I would use charm again if they did. It is stupid that they started basing our charms on charima starting with the level 65 charm when they were based on magic before that and had a negative magic modifier to help make it stick.
At last a Dc we can trust in (I doubt very much 8))
