I just experimented on some hapless dragorn and I can tell you that this stacks with Funeral Pyre of Kelador, Pyrocruor, and Nightfire.
This is very good news for those lucky (and soon to be dead) mobs that are susceptible to fire damage dots :)

seems to get resisted almost everytime in pvp with 250fr =(

go get that reset asap. Conjuration is what necroes need to be, even if you got those silly alteration dots from GoD.
Make Alteration your secondary forte--once SOE gets around to the patch and FINALLY the GoD AA refund it should be reasonable. I reset my mastery to conjuration long ago so I could DoT more reasonably. It's in the Sol Temple (the mastery reset quest). I was glad I did it and never looked back (even though it was a pain to regain my mastery strength).

Personally, I feel that alteration IS the way to go.
Dread Pyre, Mind Flay and Pyre of Mori are all alteration.
Corath Venom is Conjuration, as is Desecrating Darkness.
Since, of the spells I use, alteration spells cost more mana, having a specialization in alteration saves more mana in the end.

Maybe this person likes bein an alteration necro, is why they let you choose which path you would like to take.

This will be the first spell you receive when you start turning in greater runes. Stacks with Funeral Pyre.

I was soooooo happy. Fire dot is almost the most important dot for necros. Good ratio(especially for a alternation necro like me), high dps and NEVER resisted.
