Not meant for dps

in response to Mieiiki's statement on DPS and lifetaps this is what i have to offer: as an SK who has gotten 99% of my gear on my own (i.e. not employing the use of a raid force) i am not into anguish, ToB or DPoB or even close yet. I personaly would not use this spell as on offensive / DPS spell. Just using my tanking weapon, the cudgel from time, and my shield i am pretty sure my dps would out do that of this particular spell because of its cast time. with a cast time of 3 seconds i am getting up to 3 attack rounds in, with ferrocity 3 im double attacking about every other round, hitting for anywhere from 100-305 normal up to 550ish on crits. add a 100+ shield bash in there and the DPS from using my weapon alone out wheighs that of a life tap. but then again Lifetaps are not mant for DPS imo. other than that:love the spell, its great for keeping my gimp *** alive on raids when the cleric is bussy healing everything else and i gotta offtank something. great for soloing for obvious reasons. if you dont like the spell dont use it. oh and can heal for upwards of 4k with theft of life line of aas maxed, improved DMG 5 and a critical blast. 4k = nice chunk of HP that cleric doesnt have to worry about.
Poor SKs

Dam Sony screwed SKs on this one, the 69 spell is better hp transfer then this spell. It may be good and land more often true, but Sony couldn't give you an 800 hp lifetap, It's not in there programming heh.

Actually if you READ the 69 spell, it only gives gives 500 to your max hp, isn't a 750 lifetap, and it came out in PoR, this is a OOW spell and was the best at the time, I personally can crit 3k heals out of it. I'm happy with it.

No good in PVP

Only thing I can complain about is that in PVP This spell does not land very often its only -200 in magic resist where touch of Innoruuk is -500 MR. In my opinion I think this is a weak replacement for the 65 Lifetap (Touch of Innoruuk)

OK, this is a bit late in response cause I haven't looked at this spell for some time. But everyone back off a sec! I don't know what happened to it, but there use to be a post before mine with someone ******** that this spell was useless and comparing the Ranger heals to this and sayin it was horrible compared to those and why doesn't SOE give us uesful spells. He said the reuse timer on this made it laughably ineffective and why would you need it when there's a cleric in the group. I agree with what ya'll are sayin. And I know I said just for soloing but I actually use this all the time in groups. I am always using my spells to keep aggro on me. This is one of those. I love the SK class and don't have any real problems with our spells. I was just ranting on the guy that posted before. Honest. I named my post "Not So Bad" in response to his post.

You definitely need to learn the value of lifetaps. I have had the 350hp lifetap save me from unconciousness just in time for the cleric to ch my ******* I got real lucky, along with FD these make an sk very difficult to kill... Unless of course you're trying to tank a zone you have no business trying to tank!

i agree with Mieiikki b/f i keep up a lifetap at almost all times cause even though i do stay behind the mob the best i can so i don't catch a riposte, rampage, flurry anything to help preserve mana for cleric u also never know when the MT will go down as stated by the b/f. another good spell to have up is bond of death 80 damage per tic which is siphoned to you is never a bad thing cause with lifetaps bond of death and leech curse u can do some serious healing with crit lifetaps and exceptional heals. i have saved my own hind cause of spells like this alone so like the guy who confused aura of darkness with Asystole
1: Get tack hammer
2: Hit self in head
3: Don't understand yet see step 1

Quit bitching

Alright, lets set things straight. This will be an awesome spell. Period. Anyone that is whining about it, just shut the hell up. In the perfect world, the cleric always has enough mana to keep everyone healed. But in the real world, it just doesnt work that way. If your not using your mana for anything in a group, and you have been ripposted a couple of times, why not life tap? I do. Save the cleric some mana. And imagine the crits? 1k+ heal... hmm... yeah. And a crit with an exceptional heal? Wow. Who cares about what other classes get? Just remember, we arent a paper tank like other classes.

I have a 58Sk, i grouped with a 68SK, he crit'd for right about 1500hp on the heal, and that is with Touch of Inruku and 105DMG less...NOW imagine the possibilities :) just my 2cp.

Well said!
People are always complaining that other classes have spell x which costs y mana and does z damage. Am I playing that class? No, so it doesn't matter. Pretty much all spells have their place in a fight, and since about level 40, SK DD lifetaps are only really any use if you're not getting hit.
My level 65 lifetap (Touch of Innoruuk) exceptional heals me for 910hp. I've never had an exceptional heal on a crit with it yet, but I assume I can add another 200-300hp on to that. In a raid when you're only taking the occasional riposte (and with our mitigation and avoidance abilities these hits are for less than full damage too), a 900-1200hp heal means the cleric doesn't have to change targets.

Sure, pallies and rangers might be able to heal for the same or more, but they have to target themselves to do it. We get lich and mana tap procs, it's only very rare that we should have to worry about being OoM. Unless you're trying to outdamage the local necro ;)

Yep.
I cant agree more if you are playing an sk and are high enough level to get this spell ... yea you either already know to keep at least one lifetap up at all times or you are ebayed and this edicate does not yet apply to you. the occasional reposte or AoE can somtimes irritate a healer. Use this to keep yourself topped off. And also in some cases where that incoming cheal still leaves you with some doubt attack off and lifetap it could very well save your life as well as the lives of your group.
Not so bad

Welcome to the world of the hybrid. The ranger spell Sylvan Water heals for about the same amount for just under half the cost of this spell. But this spell heals you and damages the mob. So it's kind of 6 or one-half dozen of the other. And of course you wouldn't use this in a group with a cleric. I never heal myself when there's a cleric around. This would be for soloing.

As FYI this is not actualy Mieiikki but her boyfriend. So no harm to her please for my little rant.

First off siphon spells are NOT only for solo. Figure it this way like one of the others said... you're tanking something that hits for 1000k doubles or even quads do you HONESTLY think the cleric is going to wait a full 10 seconds for his CH to go off? NOT! they will in fact spend the 3ish seconds to cast a quick heal to keep your butt alive while said mob is buisy pummeling your sorry carcas into the ground. As a second note no intellegent group will go wandering into an area with 1k+ hitting mobs without a warrior with defensive disc for those just in case moments, AE taunt disc and probably 9k+hp. Now as an SK you're able to reach the 9k+ with elle gear and beyond but the small problem is we just dont get the discs that warriors do. DOnt know if you pay attention but we have a whole woppin 4 of them. and one becomes useless with enough aa's. we got gyped along with the other hybrids on that end. And double gyped because we dont have everything from all of our combined class types... we dont have the hp of an equaly geared warrior nor the manapool of a necro. We can lich ourselves yes but not nearly as good... well duh guys we're a HYBRID. as in... half/half. You cant expect to be invincable. Our manapool will be low and our hp will be low (comparatively) However you couple spell power with firepower and you come up with a ruthless class. Add in some pet DPS and you can go toe to toe with an equaly geared warrior/pally/necro/wizzie/mage or anything.

Now Second for the spell itself. It will in fact add to your dps. It does actualy damage the mob. Not to mention if you catch a repoiste you can save the healer from having to heal you. As well if you manage to catch agro when the MA goes down you wont be at 50% health to start off with. So... for those that want to complain about our spells and cannot see past what the class is SUPPOSED to be... go play a necro because thats what you want.

Overall a good post... bu' umm... 1000k?? heh, I'm asuming you ment 1k per hit. As a well equiped SK (7.1khp 1900ac roughly unbuffed) I tank mobs in KT tha' hit for well over 1k, A warrior is nice bu' hardly required. An' once the mob is slowed clerics normally jus' chain cast CH rather then the fast heals. Alot of times if I'm not 100% sure the CH is gonan land in time I'll cast my life tap for a lil' spot heal.
As for THIS spell, it looks like a good spell other then the only neg 200 rather then 500 like touch of innoruk, so it'll be pretty useless in PVP. An' the damage from it once ya add improved damage should be really nice, should hit fer around 900 max non-crit, tha's a nice dps boost between rounds of attacks.

Still hes right.
On the REALY hard hitting mobs a war will be tank due to his damage mitigation.
But one thing i must say.
A good equiped sk can get 9k+ hps?
How about 12k at 65.
And since this is lvl 70 you will have a lot more.
I miss increase HP aa on omen tho =s
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 30 2004 at 2:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) how about bfey your a noob. it would be pretty hard to get a sk to 9k hps at level 65, thats decked out in full time gear pretty much. any normal " good equiped " sk would only have 9k buffed, that means they would have about 7.1k hps unbuffed, which is ALOT. most decently geared 65 warriors hardly have 7.1k unbuffed. without time gear. i assume you mean time gear by good.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 21 2004 at 11:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) right now this is marked at 680 dmg and that's just not enough sorry. 455 mana compare that to 400 mana for a complete heal from a cleric who is not only sitting on his but and has every mana regen item there is but also only has to cast it every 5 minutes. meanwhile here we are casting this thing trying to keep ourselves alive tanking crap that hits for over 1000 double attacking. sorry this needs more damage and less mana and less recast time!
