What server do you play on? I've shown on the past few progression servers this sells on several NPC's in West Freeport and one in Commonlands pre kunark.

Powerlevel
# Jun 14 2012 at 7:35 AM Rating: Decent
It is a very useful skill for power levelling using a damage shield. When a low level character needs to do damage to get credit for the kill, throw stone is great, because it almost always hits. Normal attacks and spells can be hard to land on mobs that are much higher level than you.

Okay. Call me whatever names you want, I couldn't figure out how to make the hot button to do this ability. Maybe this will help some other clueless noob.

I finally found the in-game help topic "Melee Combat Skills and Disciplines". You need to open the Combat Abilities window (ALT-C), NOT the Combat Page in the Actions window (CTRL-C). Press the S button in the upper right part of the window and you get a list of combat skills. Select a skill and press the Make Hotkey button.

Yes, the Throw Stone skill is lame, but at it's a cheap way to train throwing, especially at low levels, which is what I was mostly interested in.

The range on this seems to be smaller than most mobs' aggro radius. Havn't used it much as a high-level Warrior with archery maxxed. The only real use I see is when a Monk combines it with his Phantom line (aggro range reduction) but Throw Stone and Phantom share the same timer! 1 damage, very low range, does not produce attention-getting aggro (unless the mob's hate list is clean).

Very nearly worthless. IMHO, of course.

I will counter this. The tome does no longer have the berserker designation, but it still "mem"able by all zerks.

Confirmed that zerkers can still use throw stone. Just made a baby zerker bought the tome, gave it to GM and got the skill. Then tried it on a mob, works fine.
No Longer a Zerker Tome

This ability is not useable by Berzerkers. Only Monks, Rogues, and Warriors.

RE: SPELLS
# Sep 25 2005 at 10:23 PM Rating: Decent
they used to be and at the time you posted this they were, but you have no one to turn them into because they require a gm, ie if you give melees a gm they would be over powered compared tot he mages who get a pet at level 10 who can just about unbuffed no pet toys no ds solo the entire list of nameds in the zone. yes they need to bring them back and make them mroe important.
essential monk skill
# Aug 01 2005 at 12:47 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a 66 monk and I've used this skill for pulling since level one. Very useful, has the same range as any of the low cost throwing weapons. Much better than trying to attack or kick the monster to pull because you may miss and then not have agro right away. One bad thing is that this is on the same reuse timer as the lull disc.
There's a trick for getting maximum range on this. Run up to the monster to the 50 range (it takes a bit of practice to know exactly how far away that is) then immediately turn around and throw the rock once your back is to the monster. You'll get a bit of extra distance between you and the monster that way.
On Blane too

On the Rogue Tome vendor in PoK as well
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 06 2005 at 2:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) My monk uses this to TANK. Its a nice AGGRO DISC. I pull aggro off PALADINS with this. The endurance cost and very fast reuse time make this a nice taunt key for tanking. Monks are about to become a new Tank class in EQ with the looks of things, although they used to be a tank class back before the dark ages of nerfs. They didn't have disciplines like this back then, but used stun procs and speed. This is nice for snap aggro, other aggro is still stuns and speed. Monks are alot of fun.

Seriously, I don't post about people's posts to often, but wtf are you talking about?

This discipline is horrible. It does 1 dmg, and the range is awful. It's not worth the copper to buy it. I can't honestly think of a good purpose for this to be in the game at any lvl.

its one extra dammage every time its up for lower levels, its a range attack with out sacking your range slot which might have a nice stat booster in it, and i doubt you play a monk much because monks used to be good pullers and would of killed a rl person for this back in the day.

Nope, tbh 100% honest I've never even tried a monk. But speaking from a warriors perspective, I still stick with not waisting the 1 copper for this. Unless they change the Endurance cost or something.

Well, if for no other purpose, it makes Damage shield powerlevelling very easy. I have NEVER seen this disc NOT hit. One of the problems when PLing with a DS, is that if the mob is too high level, the PLee will not hit it at all, and it will poof and not give exp when it dies.

Also, on my monk, this is very useful when you run out of throwing items, so you can keep at least a little range between you and the mob then you pull it. Since it is one point of damage, the tank usually has an easy tiem pulling the mob off the monk too.
buy it

you can also buy this off of Beorobin Amondson in the library
This is fantastic for powerlevelling
# Jun 29 2004 at 2:21 PM Rating: Excellent
Hi,
The purpose of this discipline is to give meelees a simple discipline in the new tutorial, just so that newbies will know what a discipline is.

However, it is fantastic for powerlevelling young meelee characters. The reason why is that, in my experience, it is absolutely never resisted. This means that you can buff your newbie with a high level damage shield and regen and then have him attack deep red mobs, using this discipline. Now, even if the red mob just suicides itself on the damage shield without your uber twinkie warrior getting in a single hit, the newbie still gets credit for the kill since he did one point of damage! This is great for attacking mobs that never flee!

It's not good for much else, but for powerlevelling this is excellent.

Thank you, I'm so glad that someone realizes that not all of us were created to be twinkies. There are still real newbies joining EQ that don't have the resources to go out and buy stacks of shurikens or whatever monks would otherwise use as a throwing item for pulling. And some of us that are just making a new monk on an experienced account still want to play as if we are a new character. This disc is very nice for pulling as it never fails (yes the range is small and I wish they would increase it based on your level), you never have to worry about running out of ammo, and although it only hits for one point--hello RPers you pick up a rock and throw it, how cool is that for a hand to hand class. My little monky loves this, gets the pull long before the casters can get there spells off or send their pets in to attack.

Well, if you are really wanting this lame A$$ discipline... There is a guy who sells it... It is foundon Glane Brixgot in the Abysmal Sea. Man... this is really lame though, hehehe... the range on it is super sad, so it can't even be used for pulling.. Then again, at lvl 1, what can you expect.
