Now Researched!

THANK YOU SONY YOU DID SOMETHING RIGHT!!! This is now Researchable and VERY VERY expensive however it ELIMINATES the need to lower disease resist since alot of classes want that lowered. :)

-40 resist magic check?
# Nov 03 2004 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
Does the negative magic resist check really make this slow more effective on slowing creatures and some bosses such as Zlandicar, Nortlav, spite and vengence golems (and other high MR creatures) vs Turgur's?

After all the research I did on shaman websites, I hear my answer is YES YES YES. If anyone can post additional information about the easier way to get this slow, I'd apperciate it. Right now, the times my guilds have hunted in GoD, we've gotten no name to spawn in Sewers at all. I'm wondering if there's a trick to get them to spawn.
Chanter/Shammy slows
# Oct 16 2004 at 4:30 AM Rating: Default
Just so your people know, I have a level 70 enchanter. My slow WILL NOT override a level 65 shaman slow. Never has, never will with ANYBODY. The highest slow an enchanter has is 70%. That's at level 57. A shaman gets a level 65 75% slow. My enchanter slow would never wear the shamans off unless he was lower than level 57 and had a lower percentage slow, but that doesn't happen till he hits like level 50 or so, with his slow that is less than 70%, maybe not EXACT on the levels, but the chanter slow at high levels WILL NOT override the shaman slow, shamans have better slows, period.

69 and 65 chanter spell - slow 70% , dreary deeds, desolate deed

Shamy's get Turgur's at lvl 51, which is a magic based slow that starts at 66% and improves to 75% by lvl 60.

If you are in a good xp group

Most mobs will die in 1.5 minutes anyways, so this is a very good spell.
Great Spell
# Jun 08 2004 at 1:59 AM Rating: Default
The beauty of this spell is you can slow a mob in 1.5secs awesome! it cuts out the need to Malos 3secs the mob 1st, then cast turgurs 5secs, once on then you can back it up with the more conventional Malos / slow combo if needed. Great spell imo.

April 28, 2004. Spell was updated to 75% slow and costs 300 mana. So, this differs from turgur's in that it A) costs more mana (turgur's is 250 mana) and B) duration here is 1.5 minutes and turgur's is 6.5 minutes and C) this guy is magic-40 resist check.

I would tend to say that this is a good one to land first on mongo mobs and gives time for tash&mals to land, then do the longer term turgur's.

Anyone using this spell know if Turgurs will now overwrite this spell or will it be necessary to try and time a Turgers after the 1.5min duration?
A very important question considering some fights on mobs that might need Balance as a first cast, the Boss is swinging 3k's plus and even partially slowed this means the tank can soak between Cheals but unslowed means chunky salsa.
I Wonder why it took Sony so many expansions to give shamans a new slow, with such limited usefullness. Honestly this should be 62-3 and came out with LDoN and Shaman should get a 80% slow for GoD and then an 'Ancient' version with some neg MR like this one at same 80%. This would make more sense and considering the lack of fully slowable mobs in post 60th content would barely effect the game at all.

Turgurs DOES overwrite Balance
Balance DOES overwrite Turgurs
Since they're now the same percentage they will overwrite eachother.
The person being overwritten will get a message saying their slow has worn off.

Don't know if it was because of some sort of issue currently with Balance or because the other shaman had more AA than me or perhaps some focus items, but when I cast Turgur's I would get the "Your spell did not take hold." message on mobs that the other shaman had previously cast Balance on...

From last experience Turgur's does not overwrite Balance. And yes, we were both 65.

That's because Balance has 24 disease counters, while Turgur's only has 16. Therefore, Balance can overwrite Turgur's, but Turgur's cannot overwrite Balance, even though both decrease attack speed by 75%.
looks good to me

This is actually a very nice spell for raid situations where the mobs dont live longer than 30 secs and hit hard like in god, elementals and time. Also considering alot of these mobs mitage slow turgers isnt much more effective on alot of these high end mobs.

Good Spell
# Mar 12 2004 at 5:21 PM Rating: Decent
For a raid situation or even for hard LDoN / expeditions this spell is very nice. It's like having a MR debuff built into your slow. And on occassion being able to slow quickly without casting a MR debuff first is a life saver.

pretty sure that is what it will be.
this spell

To be honest, this spell would be much more useful to be an evolution of our earlier disease based slow. On mobs that CAN be magic slowed, I usually have no problem getting them slowed. I would rather have the 75% slow resisted once and land on second than stick the 60% slow the first time. If you lead with Malos, you will rarely have mobs resist magic slow if it CAN be stuck on them. However, sometimes mobs can't be magic slowed, but can be disease slowed, so a bigger disease slow would be more nice. Being able to do the supre-quick disease debuff and stick a 60% disease slow on the mob would be super-ific.

I too would prefer this to be a continuation of the disease line, but I really like the look of this spell for its -40 to MR.

This is an ideal "opener" after Malos + Tash goes in on mobs that have high MR but ARE slowable.

Then slow-spam Turgurs on the offchance you get it off.
RE: this spell

Oh yeah, the 1.5min duration? What the heck? Having the slow a named maybe 4+ times during the duration of our 75% slow? I can see this only being used for LDON or other fast killing DPS groups where you just want to cut down on the damage some quickly without leading with malo*** making us...a beastlord. Thanks sony:)

this does appear to be a spell included in the next expansion, although i'm sure they're still revising it. The real draw to this spell has to be the -40 resist check against magic... stacking with the malo line that makes for pretty rare slow resists.
