I am trying to understand the benefit of this spell.
Cleric gets Temperance at level 40, and Symbol of Naltron at 41, but can't use both at the same time.
When would a cleric want to use Symbol instead of Temp?

There's also the issue that symbol was in the game for years before Temperance was introduced.
temp is part of the line that gives both hp and ac.
But, you can get even more hp and ac if you use symbol and their ac buff, then you can have a druid cast their hp buff that also has mana regen and ac.
You come out with more hp, more ac, and mana regen.
The druid buff does not stack with temp or that line.

As of the September 13, 2004 patch this spell no longer costs a peridot to cast. Clerics rejoice.

Okay all... There are several posts that say this stacks with temp. I have tried several times several different ways and cannot get it to stack with temp. I keep getting the message that the spell would not take hold. Could someone please tell me if this still stacks with temp and the exact method of how to get it to do so.

seems to me that you answered your own question. No, It doesn't stack with Temp.
This spell and any of the symbols WILL NOT stack with any of the Aego spells -

I correct myself, it only stacks with Temperance not Virtue. ;)

The only symbol which stacks with Temp or Virtue is Symbol of Kazad, which paladins do not get.
Aye, this will stack with temp, along with any other Symbol buff.

This does NOT stack with Temp, nor do ANY Paladin Symbol spells...

The only symbol which stacks with Temp or Virtue is Symbol of Kazad, which paladins do not get.
