When I checked today, this spell lasted 12 seconds a.k.a 3 ticks. Still the same cast time and recast time though.

6 seconds = 1 tick, so this is 2 ticks
The good ol' days of EQ were all about roleplaying. In Norrath, you got to be a hero.

AE's can be reflected, would have to have someone timing the AE though and maybe get this song off every 3-4th time the ae was gonna go off

do you simply need a wind instrument to play it or do wind instruments increase its effect in any form?

I got this song in Vxed from a named loot after the last patch.

If you read the details of the song:

Casting Time: 1.50
Duration: 2 ticks
Recast Time: 120

Two things that stand out as different: 1.5 seconds cast time (every other bard song is 3.0), and duration: 2 ticks (every other bard song is at least 3 ticks, except for instant effects). Also has a 2 minute recast time. All in all, it looks to be sort of an emergency song... it can't be twisted due to the recast time, and the short duration. It's a fast-cast song, looks to be handy for those certain encounters where a mob has a 2+ second cast time on an ae (think Babs in pofire). But it's in no way overpowered.

If you are high enough lvl and have the capabilities to get this spell then you will have your epic already and it will be irrelevant weither or not it requires a instrument.

Actually, it is important, because once you get to Time or GoD there is a good chance you want to bag your epic as it's no longer all that great. There aren't that many armor pieces with wind instrument modifiers, so you'd want to get one if this song requires a wind instrument. I use the shoulder piece from Time personally, but there's also the shoulder piece from PoWater that's like the 'little brother' of the Time piece.

Recast time of two minutes ... still this could be a life saver if A- The spell can be reflected back to it's source and B- You actually reflect the spell, there's a 50% chance of failure. Personally I see this mainly as a dueling spell. If you reflect a wizard's nuke back at him for a kill that's serious bragging rights.

I'm going to assume you can't reflect AE spells ... there's way too high of a chance that the caster of the spell will get anniliated.

There are not Enough bards to give each group in a raid a bard these days... at least not on my server

seems like we are a dieing breed in some places but I dont blame them after four years of wrist hurting

My guild (Sworn Few) on Povar has 5 55+ Bards (3 are 64+) and all 5 of us HAVE been known to show up for a raid, although 2-3 is more regular. We often have a Bard in every group, or at least the groups with the tanks. :)

Don't forget spells can be marked as, "Reflectable: No".

I doubt an instrument would increase the chance of reflection, but it might be one of the songs that require a wind instrument equiped to use.
I'm just speculating here.
