I play a 63 war, Just wondering how much of a difference this and Evasive have. Mitigations 45% and Avoid melee 50%. Don't they mean the same thing?

Evasive Discipline has Avoid 50%. Which gives you a chance of not getting hit at all by an incoming strike. While Defensive Discipline increases your Melee mitigation by 45%. When you mitigate a blow, it has already landed on you and you shrug off some of the damage. Warriors mitigation increases with each level. At some point increasing mitigation by 45% will make a warrior take less than 50% of the incoming damage. Don't ask me to crunch the numbers but I'd assume that at the level you get this (55) it works better than the Evasive Disc.
