My god all this USELESS bickering, everyone has to post their opinion about whether this spell is good or not, and not a single person says where to get this spell.

This is pally's line of Aego!! OF COURSE IT IS A SPELL WORTH GETTING!
as this can be researched ...

Was just wondering if this still required a Peridot to cast I don't have the spell yet and I know they took out the reagent for the cleric line. Just want to know if they did the same for us.

Why bother
# Apr 05 2005 at 10:57 AM Rating: Default
Look.If you are lvl 65 you will always have a cleric in the group giving conviction or Virtue anyways. This spell is nice for when you might be off ******** around solo somewhere and thats about it.Lets not make this into something it isnt.
RE: Why bother
# Jun 02 2005 at 11:40 AM Rating: Decent
No, you will NOT always have a cleric in your group at level 65. Druids make wonderful healers in any level range and in a pinch Shamans do as well. At level 65 with a level 65 druid as your group healer if you don't use Guideance or Heroism+Marzin+BoF then you're just not working up to your potential. Notice how that nice Aura of the Crusader stacks with your self buffs but not Po9??

Po9 = 618 HP 32 AC
Marzin+BoF = 700 HP 37 AC
Total with druid buff = 1318 HP 69 AC

Guidance = 1100 HP 54 AC
AoC = 350 HP 30 AC
Total Self Buffed = 1450 HP 84 AC

See how this works out nicely for an extra 132 HP and 15 AC as well as an extra buff slot to self buff instead of using the druid buff??

Assuming you will always have any one class in a group (other than your class obviously) is very narrow minded. Heck with a druid as main healer you can even show off more of the power of the paladin class by dropping your heal over time on yourself to help out the healing.

p.s. Oh yeah and I can hear it now... "132 HP 15 AC big deal that's worthless" -- strange thing is that it'll come from the same people that swear by symbol + 9 for the 123 extra hp's it gives...
These lines are GREAT for Paladins
# May 23 2004 at 5:39 PM Rating: Default
I love these line of prayers for us Paladins. I will scoop this one as soon as I have the points available. I will also carry the Symbol/shield/hp combination too.

My alt is a cleric and has the Virtue prayer. He will cast it in group for dot or free to the MA and SA. He asks right up front for dots or donation of 10p in group to cover the rest of the group if possible. (otherwise he tells the ML to pay him before split). No damn reason why anyone should be mooching reagent buffs offa anyone in LDoN or any other type of hunt.

When someone asks outside a hunt for a Virtue its a standard 40p. 1k of mana is hard to comeby. And he doesn't wanna be sitting around in PoK.

This will stack with any of the Personal-only mana-blessing hp prayers but that is it. No symbol, no shield, no other hp/ac, no PoC, no Pot9. Although Po7 it will.

What's in the 1400 point range at the MM camp? Hopefully some gear like North Ro's 1400pts gear. Anyone up that high? Any info will help to determine if getting this spell is priority at that camp.

Maybe I scanned through too quick and missed it, but what wil this spell stack with?

I'm assuming it wont stack with the Virtue line, since it is called a mini-aego, but will it stack with pot9 and our AoTc self buff? Just wondering if I need to get it.
RE: Stack
# May 06 2004 at 6:42 AM Rating: Decent
Think of this buff just as you would Aego or Virtue. It is no different as far as stacking goes. It will stack with AotC, but will not stack with P9.
# Mar 10 2004 at 10:09 AM Rating: Default
I just bought this spell the other day, and while it's nice to only have to mem one spell and only have one buff slot used where 3 were formerly filled, I think the duration should be slightly longer. I mean, I just spent 650 adv. points on it and I am really no farther ahead than I was. For 650 adv points it should last at least an hour and a half, making it well worth the effort.

Look at the LdoN spells for other classes, such as Horror for Necros. It is clearly superior to other dots they already had and a great addition well worth the trouble. I cringe every time I see the Guidance icon blinking in my buff bar, as it seems I just cast it and if I have been fighting the whole time I probably don't have the mana to recast it.

Great spell, I don't group with clerics much anymore at 65, have druid for heals, doesnt take much to heal on an ldon reg adven anymore with 130aa's and defense aa's maxxed...So this spell is great for saving 2slots, I recommend it for anyone who likes to save buff slots for ds/AotC/regen/etc...
RE: I likes=)
# May 20 2004 at 8:14 PM Rating: Decent
Although I dont like the fact it is true that most 65 grps main healer is comprised of 65 druid
in this case this spell is awsome because it still enables a Aego line for spells in pre buffing. On top of that, when in a group with a cleric and cleric is lom or oom this is a good pre buff before cleric gets back on his feet.

# Feb 15 2004 at 3:06 AM Rating: Default
Well, the way i see it, this is great for soloing, obviously Pallys don't solo much, but recently I have been doing alot of solo quests, this would be great, buff myself at start of camp, and refresh when needed, unless you have a cleric with you at all times, you won't be able to get V during camping. V might be better, but the convience of this outweights it. All you pay for is a dot, i sometimes see clerics selling V for 50-100pp in PoK and they are the only cleric in zone, id much rather pay 12pp for this spell than a 50pp for a V.
RE: Better than buying V...kinda
# Jun 21 2004 at 1:09 AM Rating: Default
Heres the Deal...

You can probobly weasle your way into paying less for a V than you do to buff yourself for 3 Hours. This is all relevant on how much Extended Enhancement you have, but lets just say that the Cleric has AA EE and the Pally has None.

V'll last you over 3 hours, G'll only last you one. That means G'll cost you ~36pp for less HP than Virtue will cost WHICH, my friends, many clerics will Gladly cast on you in exchange for 3 Peridots (Try it... they love getting their stock replenished w/o running to the Store!)

Therefor this spell is rather useless in such a situation that you could run off and get a Virtue...

I have this spell, and I love it. Its very convinient, and I find myself using it much more than you might think... its become habbit (much like Holy Steed.) But do not fool yourselfs into thinking that this will be better or more efficient than Virtue because it wont, just very convinient =)

uhmm I agree with the other replies.. as a pally I always give at least 40p for a Virt.. I mean.. it`s the best buff you can have hp-wise, so I`d gladly pay 40-90 plat for a few hours of fun
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 12 2004 at 12:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wow...not sure what server you are on...but I never pay more than the dot for a V - 15pp tops if I don't have any on me and are in a hurry.

Not sure what server YOU are on, but on Stromm, I won't get off my butt and virtue the person who sends me a tell asking for virtue unless they cough up 60pp or more. If I want to be generous and cast at cost I'll announce it to the zone, but if you want me to drop what I'm doing and virtue you, you better be paying a pretty penny.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 12 2004 at 6:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is a straight up flame!!! You are nothing but a pompus ******* Get out... I have a 65 Cler, and I charge 11pp Min Donate, to cover the cost of the Dot...Dots only cost me some 10p, 5gp and odd change. Giving up a V fer someone, OH NO, you MIGHT DIE if you have to waste that whole 14 second cast time, woah, that is SUCH A WASTE OF TIME!!! Or, if you are REALLY SMART, which umm, you don't seem to be...HoV, that only costs you TWO DOTS, 24 seconds of yer oh so precious time, and less then half yer mana, which is easily regained, I would hope, it is for my cleric. All in all, I would rather self buff my paly, then pay a doink like you who demands that much pp fer a stupid spell in a game. So to you and all the clerics out there like you, get a life!!! =P

You dont pay more than the dot or 15p for V? Well why dont you slap the cleric's face too when you get that buff from them? Thanks for your time, to mem and cast the spell, and the mana to cast it, here's nothing for your trouble. Its people like you why my cleric doesnt cast for donations.

Why waste time with 13 Adventures when you can just go to hard mode and do about 6 slaughters and have it done twice as fast. It's really easy with a good group. We wiped a normal slaughter 52 with 40 minutes to spare. 64 paladin, 65 chanter, 65 shaman, 65 druid, 65 necro, 65 rogue. I'm going to try that group on hard mode soon and see how it works.

It's really easy with a good group

Most LDoN advs I have done have been pick up groups, yes some were very good and we did hard after that. A few I have done they picked hard off the bat and we failed miserably, that is a waste of time to me. I won't do a hard adv with people i don't know.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 05 2003 at 1:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wow this spell really blows. It's a rare enough situation the me or my grp is using mainly pally buffs. And for that rare situation I can spend 650AP points to get a spell that combines 3in1 except with lesser stats and lesser duration. I'll take the extra 10sec. to cast the other spells. Hell I doubt I'd even buy this spell if it was 10pp on a spell venodr in pok.
RE: Crappy spell
# Dec 08 2003 at 5:05 PM Rating: Good
Woah woah waoh... Think before you flame a spell.

First off, your canadian, shut up....

Fully Buffing using Heroism, Bulwark of Faith, and Symbol of Marzin, the top three Pally buffs, you will recieve 1150 HP and 56 AC. Granted this is 50 HP/2 AC off, and some Pallies will want the 50 HP, I will give you the fact that Single buffing will give you better HP.

The convenience of this spell, however, outweighs this in my opinion. Marzin Lasts 63 Minutes, Heroism 72 Minutes, and Bulwark 81 Minutes... Meaning that you will most likely be rebuffing all three when Marzin wears off, 3 minutes afterwards (OH NO, 3 Minutes!!)

Also, Pot9 is much better stats then Heroism, but it is not nearly as good for a tanking Paladin as Heroism + AoTC, and Pot9 will overwrite both at the same time... This spell's requirement for 1100 HP to overwrite knocks Pot9 outa the ballpark, making it safe once again for Pallies to hang out wif dr00ds =)

Manawise, its 750 vs 840 (350 + 350 + 140). Reagent wise its 1 Peridot/60 Minutes per 1 Peridot/63 Minutes (Big woop).

Hate to keep talking but here's the kicker. After Pally buffs- AoTC, Brells, Heroism, Bulwark, Marzin and possibly your Proc Imbue- you have 6 slots already used, add in Haste, Focus, Agi, Dex, Stam, Ranger ATK, Crack, Regen, Damage Shield... Uh oh!! Outa space.... Crap just got dotted, there goes my ______... Crap Shammies trying to Q me, and theres no spaces for Q to land in.... I am ALWAYS running out of room for buffs that I actually want, and end up having to cut stuff out like the Ranger ATK, Ferine Avatar, even Acumen and Regens. ***** trying to yaulp, there's no room for that extra AC...

All in 1 buffs are your savior my friend, unless you don't like other people's buffs.

Anyways if you read this, I hope you didn't find it too boring even though I'm sure you did. At least you will know that even though this isn't the best buff in the game, its really not too bad.

Druid heals

I like having this. I am often in groups with Druids healing and Protection of the Nine overwrites my Aura of the crusader. So I cast Guidance and AotC and effectively have Virtue and a 3 point mana regen

From what I can see, this is primarily a consolodation of spells while taking a small hit on length and stats.

Guidance offers:
1100 hp
54 ac
Lasts 1 hour
750 mana cost

What guidance overrides:
Symbol of Marzin:
--700 hp
--Lasts 1 hour 3 minutes
--350 mana cost
--425 hp
--19 ac
--Lasts 1 hour 12 minutes
--140 mana cost
Bulwark of Faith:
--37 ac
--Lasts 1 hour 21 minutes
--350 mana cost
For a grand total of:
1125 hp
56 ac
Effectively lasts 1 hour 3 minutes
840 mana cost

Both scenarios require a peridot.

The first one saves you two spell slots and 90 mana.
The second one adds 25hp and 2 ac.

Now, to take into consideration the cost of spells.

Scenario 1
Guidance: 650 ap
At level 65, this translates into about 25-30 successfull Mistmoore adventures (more at lower levels). Each adventure averaging 60-90 minutes in duration.

Scenario 2
Symbol of Marzin / Heroism / Bulwark of Faith
First off, at 63 you can cast cast all but Bulwark but you can cast Shield of Words for a loss of 6 ac.
I'm not positive on the costs of these spells, but they are all sold by Clarissa Heartweaver in FV. So, I imagine that the combined total of all 3 is less than 500pp which can be made in about 2-4 adventures at level 65.

Just to help clear things up all AEGO line buffs even clerics take a little hit. for example at 61
a cleric can give his max hp buff even more than V to his main tank. V is only better because of the reduced buff slots and the duration.
Ward of gallantry Virtue
AC 54 HP 1405
AC 72
AC 22
HP 520

HP 900
AC 76

Im not flaming anyone just trying to get you to think outside the box a little the AEGO line is really great and if I was a Pally I would get this spell just because of the simplicaty of its use really not bad since that guidance is the exact buffage as AGEO a lvl 60 cleric spell
minus 1 1/2 hr duration. Still not bad.

from the gate.. paladins are Always behind on clerics in the potency of their buffs..
what your getting here.. is Aegolism with a little under half the duration.. considering how many levels your usually behind on cleric buffs.. Your Lucky you get this within 5 lvls of the cleric equivelant.

look at this from an Ldon adventure perspective..

45 minutes remaining in your adventure.. a caster or a secondary tank bites it... your cleric is LOM.. doesnt have epic.. or even if has epic.. doesn't really need to be blasting another 1000 mana (on virtue) so u can further delay the adv..

rez that mother .. pally slaps this 'bandaid aego' on and Back To Work..

or would you rather the cleric spent 1600 mana (yes thats 600 for reviscience 1000 for virtue) to continue a mission that wont last over an hour longer anyway..

frankly from the clerics perspective.. this spell is awesome.. i'd give the dots for a paladin to cast it if it was gonna save me 1k mana on a tight adventure

BTW i play a cleric/pally team with my gf.. she bought Austerity for this very purpose. currently i only have temperance which is the same stats again.. but only shorter duration. I have played a 65 cleric PLENTY to know that Virtue.. is a MANAHOG. paladins use their mana for basically 2 reasons.. to stun the crap outta something.. or AE/direct heal. my gf is usually Far ahead on mana cause she uses it less frequently.

if ya wanted to cast virtue... you shoulda been a cleric..

but a paladin that can cast aegolism.. now thats perty tight.

Id like to see a survey of 65 pallies in a few months to see how many own this spell. Not many Id think.

# Sep 15 2003 at 1:24 PM Rating: Default
I would rather trade this spell in for a more in-line paladin version of cleric AA abilities.

Radiant Cure is awesome for raiding. Although Remove Greater Curse is dropping more often now...RC is the bomb for raiding.

Also..since pocket droods and shammys can effectively heal with a solid damage per second group..I would rather see a resurrection AA ability to increase the paladin rezz from 90 percent to something higher. Heck even the necros can go above a pally for rezzes...there is something wrong about that IMO. Make the necros come on bended knees to the paladin for a rezz...THAT is the way is should be (grin).

Just read one of the developer chats about LDoN (instead of hitting enter over and over on the congestion of the login servers... LOVE EXPANSION DAY).

Anyway I got one important bit out of that log that I had not heard before.

Casters will get 8 new spells each, Hybrids 5.
All new spells will be ADVENTURE POINTS PURCHASED.

Hope this helps.

Thanks ^^^^ on giving the cost. I've noticed that you can only see items that will cost slightly more than you can afford so assume this will show up for me in BB once I have more than my current 60 pts (tryng to jugde how much lvl 55 austerity is going to cost personally).
