Which Entrap spell do rangers get?

If you go to https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spelllist.html?1 and search on "Entrap", you get a bunch of spells, and two spells named entrap are listed. One is the ranger AA spell, and the other is ?. Every one presumes it is this one that is the ranger AA. Or is it? I have to say that whichever version is the ranger AA snare spell, it is resisted a lot. So presuamably this is page is listing the AA version. Is there a way to upgrade to the other Entrap with the -50 magic resist check? Or is the other Entrap spell just one of many spells which never went live? Or maybe it is due to come out with the new Secrets of Faydwer expansion next week? The first date the other entrap spell was posted was in April 2007. Whichever version of Entrap my Ranger has, I have a sound trigger to tell me when it is resisted. This is the second sound trigger I ever made, the first one being for "has been awakend by Guyyug" (mez break). The fact it was my second sound trigger is a reflection of how valuable the entrap spell is, and how often it is resisted.

With the release of SOF yesterday, there is a level two to the Entrap AA. The nature of the upgrade is not specified on the AA window, but I suspect the spell is https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=12610. If so, this will be super. It will be a greater reduction in movement speed, less frequently resisted, last just as long, and have a casting range just as far. But I can't get the upgraded AA until I hit level 79. So it will be a while before I get it.

Please people, DON'T post your opinions on what class deserves what and "IMHO".........save the space for useful information like where the spell/item can be found, what NPC it pertains to, LOC and so forth. Putting a lot of nonsense on these boards just serves to confuse info-seekers by making them sift through pages of nonsense.

To this date I have not seen this spell anywhere, and I don't think it exists.....plus the name is kind of "not right", so it's more than likely a test server spell. I'm searching LoY now and will update this if I find anything different.

I can see where other classes would get upset, as a paladin, I'm a pain in the butt to kill on a pvp server due to the fact that I have so many heals available to me. Although I would not complain if we got this spell, I do see some balancing issues, Pal's would be almost to god like...being able to kite another melee to heal..just doesn't make sense. As its easiest for me to kill undead PvE wise, I could understand make a snare vs undead for Pal/Clr after all, thats what our nukes/fears are based on.

I would be absolutely extatic for both pvp and pve stand point (except vs casters/rangers) just because it makes my life simple, perhaps to simple

I think Sk's would like this spell for its duration, and unfortunately I know nothing of BL's except I hate there pets.

Test? Sure. Live? Look into adjusting vs undead and what not.

First off, I dont think this spell exists. Secondly, Rangers may have abeef with us getting a snare that is actually useful in PvP but if a druid, necro, wiz, or any of these classes that can solo so easy in these new planes say anything, they have no room to talk. SoE should make this game an even playing ground when it comes to killing mobs and what not. The classes as of right now are VERY unbalanced. You say you want our HT? fine take it. it is usless in so many ways when it comes to defending yourself with high lvl mobs. Our HT does not even a scratch to these new plane mobs, and then once its gone, we cant use it for at least another hour. Again, really usless.
you say you want our Life taps? fine, take them, I would gladly give you them in axchange for the ability to root a mob, then CH myself..... You know what makes things even more crappy? when we had our Fear abilities removed during PvP situations. Since they removed that, they may as well remove stuns spells, and blind spells, and any spell that prevents you from being effective....see my point? You quad able classes have not been screwed. If any class has ever been truely screwed when it comes to PvP or soloing, its the melee classes.
Mind you I have only covered things about my class personally as this is really the only class I play besides a cleric, and let me tell you. My cleric can solo better then my sk. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.....
Anyway, please stop wining about things being unfair to you guys when it isnt you that has been getting screwed.

its like this... the other day was in PoN and saw a sad sight. A druid was quading... thats right a druid was quading. im a 55 paladin if if i could quad in PoN and get that exp i'd have mad AA. I can't even solo PoN and i have some nice gear. But ya know what i'm fine with that. i did not play a paladin to solo.i played a paladin to group and protect people in that group. if getting a spell that slows movement not attack speed what is the big friggn deal. you dont even see that the spell youre crynig about is gonna save yer life one day if it ever comes out. second point=PvP servers. never played on one. but i know as a paladin it would be awful hard to kill some fast **** bard runnin around ya er some sow druid er ranger... kuz ya gotta remember we got no way to make ourselves faster than you... sure i could maybe land a stun er somethn but a spell like this might help elimane those "speed" classes from just runnin around use their speed oon the classes that cant slow. just a thought

alright - u havent been on a pvp server - if a paladin had a snare in pvp it would suck the faking balls off everything . same with sk . this is why i am against this spell . is cuz of pvp. if i got snared by someoen like a pladin or sk it would suck that is why I have snare. Like i said if they get a snare spell can i have Harmtouch? or maybe LoH?

I defend him not, but if he plays on PvP he might of assumed the fact that the darkness line rarely does jack squat as far as succesfully snaring other players. Snare lands a whole hell of alot more then darkness does, so that might be why he dismissed it.

If you are this level on a PvP server . . it's likely you know by now that you need Magic Resistance. Pally's already have root i dont mind them getting snare. SKs have snare too but its hard to land and has a dot component and takes a lot of mana. SKs need snare to hopefully be able to slow down some ranger running around you with the ability to shoot you for 600 damage basically as many times as he can get a clear shot without stopping to cast.

This spell better not come out of EQ EVER. for one , the line of Snare spells are for RANGERS AND DRUIDS!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS WHAT MAKES THEM UNIQUE, if this comes out why not give Rangers Harm touch or Lifetaps? And another thing- Paladins with snare..... that happens i quit eq. Paladins dont get snare - that isnt part of their class. Beastlords MAYBE would be ok with a snare spell but not sks / paladins. I know sks get their darkness spells which are slightly less effective than the ranger /dru snares. Lets keep it that way. They have their spears and lifetaps and dots. Paladins have their uber heals, Lay on Hands, and so on. Rangers are meant to snare , not paladins, sks arent meant to have a ranger snare. if this spell comes out i suggest it be rng / dru only ( maybe bst too but id rather not). If they give this to sks/ pal then rangers should get a life tap and high lvl heal at lower lvl....

Ok, as far as you saying that Paladin's have "uber heals" that is a crock of ****. The only thing paladins do have is Lay of Hands. The bad point of LoH is that it takes 24 game hrs before it can be reused...it is a one time thing. I have a 51 paladin and she only heals for 300pts. Pallies dont get Superior heal untill lvl 57, and by that time 500hps does not count for ****. Even though paladins get sup. heal their mana pool is not the best in the world. Sup heal uses quite a substancial amount of mana. Can be cast 2 maybe 3 times depending on the paladin. Although, I do agree that rangers should have another heal spell at a lower lvl, there is nothing that you or I can do about it.
Why should it matter that a paladin gets a snare spell anyway? It's not like they get it at a low lvl. You can't just get 55 in one day. It takes a while. Besides, wizards have an AE snare spell and I don't hear you ******** about that.
And who died and made you king as to say that ONLY rng / dru should get this spell? Tend to your own class and stop ******** about the others. You don't hear us ******** about yours...
And your little comment about "quitting eq if this spell ever came out" is childish rubbish. The only reason you are ******** is because you are a ranger. If you was a paladin and saw someone saying this **** then you would be just as upset. I could go on and on about this but it would not do any good. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine.

aight...just for the record.. for u who have posted on here talkin bout pally's and sk's haven an unfair advantage over rangers and other hybrid classes and havent play either of the 2 classes..go shoot urself. Im a 49 sk on Torn. server and trust me.. we EARN every bet of the abilities we have. We cant solo like the necro and the shaman can cause we're relien on both melee and castin..and a sk or pally without mana is like a cleric without healin capabilities.
Get my drift? Plus..rangers out dmg's easly plus ya get speed spells..damage shields and heals..we just get taps and FD. ***** u if u wana wine just cause we finally get something we waitin for and work hard to get. beastlords in my opinion are just a weak cross of a monk and a shaman..not worth the trouble. U solo masters..go watch a necro and watch bard..without the bard quadin. Here's where i raise ur temper..all qaud classes are weak sorry fools...if it weren't for the ability to quad yall wouldnt even be in the game.. Enough said.

Apperantly by your post you still don't have much EQ experience first of all don't knock a BST if you haven't played one, later on in your SK career you'll see the benefits BST can bring to you in highend gameplay. Second don't call them quad classes and that they wouldn't be in the game thats just an ignorant thing to say, this game isn't all about soloing the ultimate goal is too form groups, raids and whatnot to accomplish a goal each class plays a signifigant role when it comes down to raiding. You'll think different when a druid is Chealing your sorry butt in a rotation cause you may be in tank rotation for a mob or wizard doing serious nuke damage to the mob to kill it so it don't hit you anymore so you need to grow up and level up. Enough said.

yes, that's what it is. this spell was created for the developer's to play around with while they do fizzle test's.
there was a huge debate on it over at the beastlord board until it was finally resolved.
I repeat this spell does not exist. it is for SOE's developement team when we say we fizzle too much.

I play an SK and a ranger...SKs snare is much less effective than ranger/druid snare.

And nope, improving gaming experience for a class (or some) is not always good...im sure my gamimg experience will improve if rangers get CH, 2k nukes, FD...but there is something named class balance and game balance and is very important.

IF a ranger geting CH is unbalanced...if a BST geting snare is unbalanced...or if a SK geting a 12-min-duration-no-dot-fast-cast snare is unbalanced...then it must be removed/not assigned, if you dont wan to hurt the game.

How is the SK snare(darkness) less effective than a Ranger or Druid? Don't some of the higher end darkess spells do like 1k damage over time? I'd rather have than than something that just slows the opponent.

I think this spell will be benifical for us BL and it will pose a Balance to other Snare Dot and nuke classes . Wizzy's get a snare and with there ae nukes man I seen quad kiting going . Druids have HUGE dots and Rooting and a awesome snare, pluss there ae capability will take four Mobs at a time . Necros Hmm lets say Snare and Fear and let pet kill. Shammies have some nice pets too but there dots kick butt . So the BL have a pet that does alot of damage being a BL and with out snaring or even a root capibility stinks for soloing like these other classes . :)

This appears to me as the developers are attempting to give a "role" that these classes could be invited to a group for. Especcially SK and Paladin. Rangers already got snare so that kinda baffles me. Beastlords would be even more overpowered than they already are, so I dont get that one either.

I think the devs are trying to figure out a way to help Warriors get back to MT status. This spell may be accompanied by a mitigation nerf or a boost to Warriors of some sort. I think it is a very poor choice and would backfire severely .

This is just my theory on the matter and nothing more. Heaven help Warriors if this goes live.

Finally Beastlords get to snare. That will make our soloing much easier and grouping better. I dont know how many times I have had to say "No I cant snare or root that is what pet is for.. If I say run get outta here and I will keep pet alive till you are safe then follow you out.

I understand every part of that one matey,as a 52 beasty the amount of times peeps think we can do something we cant!!!! but also most peeps really underestimate our pets tanking ability and the sheer amount of agro it can get.

If this spell ever goes live then I think BL's will become possibly the best soloing class around would be a tight run against necro's and druids though. but since we can melee as well its always a bonus. so now Beasties can fear kite and kite normally

#2. I could possibly see blind kite, but we don't have fear so its going to be hard to do that. You also cant go to far out of mobs range or it will agro on your pet when you blind it. Been there done that lol. Snareing and then blinding might have its advantages. If you snare a mob, it will walk away only to return a short time later cause it didn't walk that far due to it being snared. Whereas if you blind it and let it run away, if it goes too far it runs out of the agro radius and never returns until you get close to it again.

Yes and No.... Yes, a Nec CAN out DoT any Beastlord level per level... But that means you are casting your DoTs, burning through Mana. Then you will be plopping down on your backside to get all that Precious Mana back.... So while you will be Medding back to full, the Beastlord will be fighting mob after mob, and our medding can be done while the fight is going on (with our Spiritual line of spells, we can med standing up, or even at a better pace sitting down... and the regen element in nice too), almost at a nonstop pace.

Point is, give a 62 Nec and a 62 Beastlord both an hour, then check back on how many each has killed. Effeciency is the name of the game, thats where the True Power lies, my friend... not blowin all your mana wad and sittin on your duff watchin your Mana bar refill. King of Solo? Beastlord.

I agree with you but not everything you say a necro with seduction of saryn is a very scary thing believe me the mana cost on some of the necro dots and nukes are cheap especially if you have an INT 290+ big mana pool difference. I have 198 wis on my BST down time for me is more than i would like but i hang in there but not with a necro. A necro can easly pull off stacking 5-6 dots at a time equaling up to 1000+ damage per tick even with our pet and us meleeing would be hard to keep up with that kind of dps plus their pet if they choose to use it or wake the dead on a nearby corpse another HT and dps. From experience a necro can solo mobs that no other class would dare to try. I don't knock any class they all have their pros and cons.

well Natocmdr you left i very important fact out of your statement, aye necro's have good DoT's but they aren't the best, Shaman's get the the best DoT's they only get 2 stackable where as the necro gets 3 stackable and those 2 shaman DoT's do more dmg then the necros 3, well anyways stop flaming a spell that isnt even in the game yet, and no necros arent the king of solo, Bards are point blank and simple a person that knows how to play a bard can do more then quad kite, i have seen a good 64 bard kiting 6 MoB that was yellow to me at 59 so if your gonna say necros are the kings of solo, i guess your meaning that Bards are the gods of solo........

Okay usually, in my posts I don't complain. I just take it as it comes. So is the life of being a ranger. BUT If Pallys and SK's get a snare spell, does that mean that us rangers get some Lifetap spell or FD, or maybe a Self Complete Heal spell. Are we going to get some of those spells that the SK's and Pally's get. Because as they are right now, those classes are pretty tight. Pallys Get REZ and Brell's, SK's Get FD and all sorts of Necro Spells. It just doesn't seem fair. We rangers already get a bad rap, why make our jobs harder by trying to compete. Maybe they will boost our ac and hitpoints then so we can tank like SK's or Pally's I mean if they gonna take specific jobs away, we should get something in return. Not something stupid like SoE at 65. Just wondering. Rangers rely on snare duty. Sometimes, thats the only reason people will pick us up. Guess I don't understand Verant's decision on this one. Even though it still on Test Server, I think its a mistake. If they must give it to Pallys and SK's why not at lvl 65? I have nothing against those two classes mind you, I think they are great, but at lvl 57 I have worked too hard to start over with a new class so I can get a group if you know what I mean. well.. honestly, think about it.. pallies are a hybrid of cleric and war, so that why they get rezzes, Sk are a combo of necro and war, so they get necro spells, rangers are druid hybrids, so that why they get druid spells.

Should have known, my SK friend who is 62 is always snaring me when we duel.

I thought about it some more, and really, I guess, if it enhances the gaming expierence of those classes that would get snare, why not. I was just being selfish at first. So I say, give it to them. I'm the type of player that wants everyone to have fun and hopes that everyone's gamming exp is good. So, I guess it will come down to who we are in game, and not what we are.

That said, I guess I am off to chase the elusive magic thong.

Don't dispair Drixon. You forget that rangers are now one of the best dmg dealers in the game past lvl 60. Right up there and a close second to Rogues and Monks. Not to mention the crazy dmg output from your bow skills. Which is why you lack the SK/Pally's ability to tank. Really is part of SoE Sony's class balancing. So its all a trade off.
