#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 31 2003 at 7:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Sorry it does work for Natures Infusion but certainly the mana savings would be modest at best. And quite frankly with 355 Wisdom I have not run out of mana in so long I dont even remeber running out of mana. IN fac ti is raree for me to ever get below 60% mana with no focus effects.

1) MP is 1 - 10% reduction this is 10 - 10 % reduction making it on average twice as good as MP

2) Because this ONLY works on beneficial spells but will not work on Natures Infusion or Karanas Renewal (which are the only two spells a Druid ever casts with any regularity), it is 100% USELESS focus effect for Druids yet I see Druids gobbling these up. Guess most Druids just arent very smart or dont bother to come here and read what the Focus Effect REALLY does. :p

The spell description for MP4 is exactly the same as this, except for the restriction to beneficial spells only.

Where did you get the idea that MP4 is 1-10%?

I switched from writ of wisdom to Boots of vengeful fury, and the MP4 effect seems to save the same amount of mana every time, just like the book did.

Real easy to see the effect, just cast HoV a few times, starting at full mana, and check to see how much is left at the end.

Just as an FYI this focus effect does work with the necromancer line of rapacious sub(insert whatever). Makes for an even better mana to mana ratio

Will focus of Mithaniel and Solusek stack? Both give 10% mana reduction.

Unless it's to say this, Focus Effects and stacking should not be used in the same sentence, as it's misleading. Technically, only Effects, Songs or Spells can stack, assuming they have similar components - for example, Symbol of Kazad and Protection of the Nine both adds HPs, and they can "stack".

No Focus Effects can ever "stack" - only the most powerful of any type of focus effect will work since it affects all spells up to it's maximum level. So Mana Pres III will have no effect if you have a Mana Pres IV item, because MP4 affects all spells that MP3 does, plus the spells from 61-65. Generally speaking, the focus effets with special names, such as Focus of Mithaniel or Zephyr of Brell, are the most powerful in their line of focus effects. Zephyr of Brell is part of the Extended Enhancement line, but is more powerful than Extended Enhancement IV, thus while wearing an item with Zephyr, Extended Enhancement on any other item, regardless of level, will have no effect.

Now where this can get confusing is with effects such as Focus of Mithaniel and Focus of Solusek. Both have a Mana Preservation component, but they only affect certain spell types. Focus of Mithaniel affects beneficial spells (such as heals or buffs) whereas Focus of Solusek affects only detrimental spells (such as nukes). Therefore, you can have and benefit from both of these focus effects. They do not "stack" since they do not affect the same thing. It would be like saying Stamina and Virtue stack - that's an incorrect use of the term as Stamina adds HPs indirectly by increasing the STA attribute, whereas Virtue adds directly to HPs.

Solusek
1: Decrease Spell Mana Cost by 10%
2: Limit: Max Level(65)
3: Limit: Spell(Complete Healing excluded)
4: Limit: Spell Type(Detrimental only)

So no they will not stack.

Closer to MP4 since it hits level 65 spells, but only Beneficial spells, whereas MP works on all spells.
