Text message is "(Mob) was chilled to the bone for 34 points of non-melee damage."

Interesting how even though it's spell class is Magic, the message references Cold damage.

Mark of the Righteous stacks with ONE of the following : Mark of Kings, Mark of the Blameless, and the higher Mark of the Devoted.
This spell is cast on mobs, not on players so it stacks with anything a player has on.
Yes, it will replace a mob's own DS, and if you combine it with kings/blameless/devoted, it's one of the cooler *legit* PLing tools out there. Just got my little baby toons 20 levels in a couple of hours keeping a HoT on them and putting Blood of the Devoted (which spreads to all nearby mobs muahhahah) on a mob, and casting Righteous on each mob as the baby tank started hitting it. TONS of fun.

not sure why you think its a waste of time cast it on a mob on inc before it gets to group if you have any type of tank at all you wont get agro. no more harmful DS to your group almost no mana consumed on cast and every point of damage helps when you have mobs with tens of thousands of HP to get rid of.
Stacks?

Can anyone confirm this stacking with the MoK line of spells? I've been casting them both on the mob and someone told me they don't stack. Do they?
Too Low dmg to be helpful

here another worthless spell. If the mob is not slowed then you will be healing not casting this. And if the mob is slowed you get a whole 250DMG total by the time it is dead. This stupid spell makes no noticeable difference. Well for CLRs who like to solo light blue cons for 1 hour per kill this sure help though lol. :/

You've never used it to Duo, or PL someone, if you think its worthless. Between this spell, and my vambraces off ragefire, the mob takes 50 pts of damage for every hit he makes on the tank. That really can make a significant difference for a tank/cleric duo. And like I said before, PLing someone with this is a piece of cake. Not so useful for low level PLing, but for the level 40+ stuff.

It does seem like it would be a waste of time, but if you have extra mana to spare, you can throw this on the mob for some extra dps. And that damage will add up over time and help a lot. Lets say that your damage shield does 150pts of damage per mob, and you and your group camp somewhere for 2 hours and have killed 150 mobs in 1 hour. That's 22,500pts of EXTRA damage YOU did in ONE hour! 45k pts dmg in 2 hours. Even if the damage shield only caused 50pts of damage per mob, thats a total of 7.5k damage an hour @ 150 mobs/hr. If you don't understand math very well, lets just say that the damage shield is worth it. ALSO this is good for Power leveling low levels too. I use it all the time to PL 1+. I'm just adding that because the post above me states it's only good for 40+. well I haven't even tried 40+ so I'm looking forward to testing that out.
Look out druids, the PLing cleric's in town!

Who to cast it on
# Sep 21 2004 at 4:27 AM Rating: Excellent
You cast these spells on the mob. It takes damage whenever it hits someone. Sort of as punishment for being a nasty mob.

It does stack with mark of kings, cast both and you get a mob taking damage when it hits you and healing you when you hit it.

Mark of kings also removes or overwrites damage shields the mob may have on it, such as thorny shield.
who do you cast on

i am even more confused now, who do you cast this on?

As I see it, this is a reverse damage shield (not a healing shield). You'd cast it on the mob. Everytime the mobs hits someone (anyone), it takes 34 points of damage. It's more in the line of MarkOfRetribution rather than MarkOfKarn/Kings (which are healing damage shields) even though both are cast on the mob.

Yes, this is an upgrade to Mark of Retribution, which stacks with Karn/Kings. As others on this page have mentioned, this "reverse DS" is very useful when duoing with a tank. I'll add that it's even more useful when duoing with a non-tank! I often two-box a monk/cleric duo and though the monk's avoidance is good, he does take a lot of damage, so I like the fact that the mob is taking damage back every time it hits me! Combine this with a good DS on the monk (and with DS bonus items -- my monk has +18 DS from items, but only if he has a DS for the items to add to) and it can really add up, something like 80+ points of damage to the mob every time it hits me.

So cast this at the start of the fight, toss in the summoned hammer pet, then start healing.

One other remark about Mark of Karn/Kings: near as I can tell, that line of spells doesn't have any effect UNLESS the mob starts out with a damage shield. THEN those spells reduce the damage shield and if it's reduced far enough it can become a healing shield instead. But people often refer to Karn/Kings as "reverse DS", so they don't realise that there's also this other form of "reverse DS".
