Whatis the reagent that is necessary to summon this Fire pet?
RE: Reagents?
# Aug 11 2004 at 10:59 PM Rating: Default
i think if you dont know the answer to this question you should not have a 63 mage.
RE: Reagents?

LOL thats true
RE: Reagents?

the fire water and earth pets from pop dont require reagents, (not that you would be summoning these much as the air pet owns all other pets hands down) the air pet does require reagent of malachant just like our other pets from 4-60

It casts a fire-based damage spell. 750 dmg at my level 63. With
Kindle on it, it cast the fire damage spell more than 10 times in a
two-mob fight in BoT.
DD Bracer to Fire Pet?
# Jan 08 2004 at 4:38 AM Rating: Decent
Crazy question here...do our pets have all armor slots available to it? Could we give them a DD Bracer for increased nukes?

That IS a crazy question! Nah, just kidding.

Yes, our pets have all armor slots available. No, focus items effects do not work for the pet. The pet will, however, get any stats (mana, ac, hp, etc.) an item has.

I don't know what level you are, but if you have a pet that dual wields, make sure you give your pet 2 weapons before giving it a shield. If you don't, the pet will hold the shield and lose his dual wield ability.

um i give my pet the summoned sheild all the time and then give him weapons never had him cancle a weapon over the sheild, have had him not upgrade off handed weapon when he has two all ready.

and yes pets have head neck face and all the other slots, includeing two rings. pets do care about lore items so giveing it two of the same focus item wont work(thats why you get the 50-60 items and the 61-65 items as the all have 20 hp/mana on them and hes then set on mana, total mana from focus items can be up to 160 mana and hp

I believe that part of the above information is incorrect, in that a pet can only take ONE item per slot type, which means they can only wear one wrist, finger and ear item (just because the pet does not refuse an item does not mean that it equips it). Also, from what I understand, a pet will equip items with higher AC stats, so even if you gave a pet an item with better overall stats, it will still wear whatever item it was given (or summoned with for today's pets) that has the higher AC, regardless of anything else (except in the case of two handed weapons, as pets will not equip two handers).

Question: Does casting Pot9 and Clarity 2 on this pet, help with the pet's mana regen?

Here is what pets have. 1 Ear, 1 head, 1 Face, 1 Neck, 1 Back, 1 Shoulder, 1 Wrist, 1 Feet, 1 Finger, 1 Hand, 1 Leg, 1 Waste, 1 Arm, 1 Chest, 1 Range, 1 Primary hand, 1 Secondary hand. No Charm slot. Not Powersource slot. Pet classes do not care about Class/Race restrictions. Pets DO NOT have lore restrictions for Weapons. It will use 2 of the same weapon even if it is lore. You just have to give it to them 1 after the other. Pets will not use a bow, but they will take it, so if it has good stats Those stats will go to the pet. Pets are impacted by Level Recommendation, but on Requirements. A lvl 1 pet WILL take a lvl 120 required item, but the recommendation limitations will sap the stats down 1 AKA, making it suck. Another thing that is fun. Pets are not given a melee damage cap at lower levels. Where a level 1 can only hit for 20dmg max, due to melee cap, a pet does not have the problem. If you give a lvl 1 pet a Tantor's Tusk it will hit mobs for 100dmg. Sorry this was long. I just like sharing what I have found about pets. I gear of pets will full sets of Conflagrant Gear on the regular to make them a bit Beefier. Happy hunting.

Updating for prosperity.

Pets no longer use mana. Myself and others have confirmed this.

Since the pet revamp this pet casts every 2-6 seconds for 750 damage. It self roots once you hit pet attack and it’s melee attacks are reduced by 50%.

If you micro manage this pet it is by and far the highest damage pet we have, but requires melee range.

Yes mind buffs do work on pets. Easiest test is the first 50+ fire pet (the first one that's a wizard and has a mana pool) give it C2 and it casts almost twice as frequently... their mana pool is small so summoned focus gear (has mana on it) and regen really help.
A potential use for it?

I got this spell last night, and tried it out. The damage is nice on it, and its DD no longer has that insane pushback the 58 firepet has. Now for its use. In a group situation its no good, as it is like any other firepet, once goes oom it starts to cast its low manacost spells, mainly root. However, it has its uses i think.

Now if you have the suspend pet ability (i do not, this is just something i can imagine being done) you can make a water, earth, air whatever your preferance being in soloing, buff it up, and suspend it. Then you cast the firepet, buff it with kindle, watch it buff itself. Let its o'kelis fireshield wear off (do not cast your own ds at this time), and chances are it will cast its fireelementalaura on itself and then buff itself with okelis. Your ds will not stack with the aura but the aura is way better. Pet now has a DS of around 80+ (going by the statement that firelemetalaura is equal to the pets lvl + 2, pet is lvl 60. so thats 62 dmg i do not know how much more the wizzy shield add but i assume over 20).

Now just pull a mob, send firepet on it, let it do its thing for about 30 secs before it goes oom. once you see it start to cast root, reclaim it, then unsuspent other pet and let that rip.

As stated i do not have the suspend pet aa, but would imagine this could work. Would be nice on taking down those bigger mobs, never hurts having 3-5k extra dmg in a short amount of time.

I took this pet out to Great Divide just to test it out, and show a friend the ice comet. Now I'm pretty sure the ice giants there have around 2k hp or so. So anyway, the fire pet starts with a Magic based nuke and 25% of the giants HP is gone. That was a 500 DD nuke. Now, let's not forget Ice comet, around 1k nuke. On top of that, he has a cold nuke. Give him the fists of Ixiblat, that's two procs for 150. The 45 point DS we cast stacks with the DS the pet gives itself. It gives itself Sheild of the Arcane, O`keils Embers, and Diamondskin. It also roots.

Now the draw backs... Forget him tanking anything, it's a wizard. Secondly, the pet has to med or it will stop casting spells, so use Kindle on it. And lastly, if the pet is out of mana, and it's buffs fade, it'll waste it's mana on rebuffing haha.

So yeah, this pet is nice, but let's face facts. In PoP, it's all about DPS, and this pet doesn't cut it. Just another mage spell that is for show only. Perhaps it has a practical use in the old world raids or something /shrug.

This info is old and out dated. Since the pet revamp back in 2016(ish) this is the pet to have in both raids and groups.

In raids it will stay at range and cast. This is a DPS loss but your pet will stay alive.
In groups you need to micro manage it to stay in melee range. If you do, you will see a drastic DPS increase over the other pets.

Make sure to ALWAYS malo. Pet DPS is increased by 20-50% when using malo due to the high resists they usually get. Using this pet against a yellow con mob I had about 90% of its spells land after casting malo, and only about 50% without. It’s worth the mana and time.
This pet now casts ice comet!!!!
