Do these work with just the 1 spell spear or torment?? That seems rather resticted!

Shaman ornate chain gloves (pop quest) has this effect. You cast your spear of torment and this will shave off 20 percent, or 56 mana. Thus making your spear of torment spell a 224mana spell for 675 damage. I may be mistaken but i believe that makes it the same as Ice Strike, your 50s nuke; just with faster cast time and lower resist ratio on most mobs (poison and high lvl).

The probably is that Ice Strike can also be reduced similarly (with an ODS) by 15% so is still more efficient. Its a decent effect, but not significantly better than just going with a mana pres 3 item, which would improve ALL of your stells, rather than 1.

Mana Preservation 3 works only on spells lvl 60 and lower. Spear of Torment is lvl 61 I believe.
But you are right, Obulous Death Shroud (Mana Pres 3) would work with Ice Strike (lvl 54)

For anyone reading this later, MP3 will still work on higher level spells. The decline in power is gradual. So, at 61, it will still save 9%ish. This is actually a nice design choice as leveling up doesn't completely invalidate all prior focus effects.
