info on getting and the pet itself
# May 20 2011 at 7:53 AM Rating: Decent
Ok so i read (skimmed) through most of the posts here. I agree that it is not easy to get and this is speaking from the progression server view with the enchanter being my only char. That being said it was not difficult just time consuming, worthwhile but time consuming.

I am a DE enchanter who worships Innoruuk. Forgot to change to agnostic when i created him but figured it would be more of a challenge this way so i kept him. I ran to HHP and cast illusion human on myself then cast invis. ran past all the orcs and guards in HHP with no problem. In HHK i repeated casting illusion human and invis. Conning guards while just illusioned gave me dubious reaction i believe but after running through kith i wasnt about to take any chances so i invised up and ran to the two pillar room and headed through the first door on the north side. through the door in that room and the vendor was right around the corner (erudite male). I bought the spell and the level 9 upgrade just so i wouldnt have to make the run again in two levels. this took almost all the cash i had but the run was long enough for me not to worry about that. that concludes the getting there portion now on to the pet itself.

The pet is a nice upgrade. He is level 9. Unbuffed he pierces for 16. I *believe* he doubles on occasion. He kicks for a max of 8 so far. The bashes I have seen have all been for 1 point. The one dissapointment is he is not able to hit magic only creatures like wisps. I found this out the hard way by attacking a yellow con wisp. As i have only a cracked staff and few offensive spells i had to run for the border. At 7 is when i would normally start hunting wisps as they are yellow conning but hopefully the level 9 pet will be able to help me out with that.

when the pet is buffed with my str and ac buffs his hits were the same. He seemed to hit for max damage more often but that is just anecdotal as i do not parse. Below a person noted he hits for 16 when buffed but he will hit for 16 regardless. I was able to confirm that he does double attack.

I hope that helps and lets people know if they want to go through the percieved difficulty of getting this pet.

I think sony should just go ahead and make this and other enchanter, mag ,nec, and wizzy spells avaliable in POk like all the other classes. why should it be the int casters that have to run all over the world to find spells?? my cleric and ranger only has to go to pok, but my chanter and necro have to go "exploring" it's not right. my poor necro has to make most of his spells him self, or pay outrageous amounts in baz. In the end i usually just run my rog around buying spells cause nothing there can hurt him and I don't have to worry about invis failing at the wrong time. Wake up sony.

You think this is bad? Look up the Paladin spell Divine Might. One spell - only provides an attack proc (which IMO is decent, which is not to be mistaken). Read the quest that is required to get the spell and you will understand.

For these pet spells, chanters only have to go to Highpass to find the merchant and buy the spell. At this level you already have invis, so the run isn't a problem, nor will it be for the pet spells for subsequent levels.

"Exploration"? I think not. You guys don't get it any worse than any other class do. Everybody has to shed some sweat to get what they desire, it's what makes the game fun.

"You think this is bad? Look up the Paladin spell Divine Might. One spell - only provides an attack proc (which IMO is decent, which is not to be mistaken). Read the quest that is required to get the spell and you will understand."

Don't forget the Ranger's Call of Flames quest, for the Call of Flames spell.

Now, the Paladin's Divine Might spell quest 'IS' a pain in the ***...but I remember the Call of Flames quest ALL TOO WELL. Long camps, pain in the *** MObs, plenty of deaths, and all for a...247 damage nuke. Woo, sign me right up.
But then, my whole point to doing it was mainly to do the quest itself, and be able to look in my spellbook and think to myself: "I got that. All on my own...", and DAMN, did it feel good, doing the last turn-in. I kept that spell permanently memorized for months, after. Heh.

As for Enchanters having to go to Highkeep and all this nonsense about it being so hard? You have an in-game map. At that point, you have Invisibility, and an Illusion spell, if you're evil (to buy from the merchant)...very simple, straightforward, and, oh! Easy!
Hmmm

Well i have been reading pros and cons, and in part i agree with all. But it is not that hard to get, a pain to get but not that hard. If your a brand new charater i can ubderstand having to come back here to get other spells as you cant afford them first time around. Most will have alts and can afford all the spells at once.

Traveling and grouping are part of the game - remember you pay for it, so if you no longer enjoy, then go with your money and play something else, no one is forcing you to play.

one last note - the makers could if they had wanted too made all spells one vender type beyond the initial spells when starting - most spells are easy to get, so the odd harded ones should be seen as a challange rather then someone stuffed up. Enjoy the game, enjoy the groups, for if you dont for either why are you still here?

What is the level of ths pet?
# Jun 15 2004 at 6:10 PM Rating: Decent
If I remember correctly, The lvl 4 pet spell summoned a lvl 5 pet. I would imagine this one would summon a lvl 9 pet, but the reason I ask is that I have been playing around with using high lvl magician pet items to self plvl. All that is required, is find a magician willing to summon you a few muzzles, and girdles, it boosts the hp of your pet a goood deal (500 hp). If unable to actually get a magician to summon you one, you can use the baz, and just get the summoned girdles, I dont really think the 11% haste from the muzzle is all that great til you get your haste spell I suppose. Just wanting to knwo if the lvl 8 pet spell, summoned a lvl 10 pet, if it did, we coud use fists of ixiblat to equip that pet with a weapon that has a nice proc., or as it may be the case, Im prolly wrong. My only experience is with my 65 cleric, and 24 bst (never thought of the idea when lvling him, wish I would have), this chantty is my first real attempt at a class other than cleric, and I just cant wait to get charm. I was very excited today when I mezed my first add lol, was in Steamfont was lvl 6, and the kobolds were getting a bit too blue, so I headed to the skels at Dragon bones, lulled one, but the dam thing still added when I pulled the one tha wasnt lulled, tashaned the other and kept it mezed, pet had about 20% hp after all was over and done with. Think the skels may have been about lvl 9 10 or so, b/c they are still red even after I dinged 7. Well sorry for the long drawn out post, I just cant help myself sometimes.

I'm a dark elf Enchanter and made it to this spell from Qeynos with no problems at all. I don't see how you can consider it "hard" to get. Maybe it looks hard written out, but try to get there in game. Its a piece of cake for enchanters.

There are two ways to High Hold Keep where this spell is sold. You can go the tougher shorter route of Rivervale to Kithicor to Highpass Hold to High Hold Keep. That is a very dangerous route, as you have to pass thru the orcs that are nasty! Or you can go the easier but longer route of Qeynos to Qeynos Hills to West Karana to North Karana to East Karana to Highpass Hold to High Hold Keep. It takes a lot longer to run the route from Qeynos, but is much safer. You will still need invis, but if you travel along the water in the Karanas and along the zone walls otherwise, you can usually make this trek without much trouble at all. Hope this helps other chanters that are looking for their pet spells.
Evil Races
# Apr 28 2004 at 7:39 PM Rating: Decent
After reading the pro's and Con's of getting these pet spells, I have to agree with the fact that these should've had at least 2 locations to purchase from, although whether being of good or bad race getting to this loc, it is filled with dangers, but the Evil races are at a greater risk then those of the goody two shoes races, and there should've been a second loc added to purchase these pet spells from an evil vendors to make it more "Balanced" as others have posted. Any of us that have played EQ for any lenght of time know that higher level spells are quite a challenge to obtain "quested" and EP, SP turn ins, so why make it this hard to get a meassly lvl 8 pet spell that summons a pet that goes down in 2 hits, and is not commandable seems a bit ridiculos, but thats just MHO,and to each his/her own, and if they feel a sense of accomplishment from grinding through Zone , after Zone and facing unneccesary risks , then Qudo's to them B-)

If all the world was the same, would we still be different?

You're an enchanter. By the time you hit level 8, you have illusions to make you non-kos here. Between Illusion human, and alliance, you should be able to freely walk through HHP and HK.

So getting there is real easy. Get a sow in PoK, invis, take book to misty thicket, run invised through rivervale, and kithicor. Zone into HHP, cast illusion human, then reinvis. Run past orcs, find a guard, cast alliance. Freely wander the zone, and zone into HK. Recast illusuion human, find a guard and cast alliance, then cast alliance on the bard in the courtyard. Then waltz into the castle and buy your spells. Piece of cake.

Well, the zone you want is called HIGH KEEP.

First floor, make a left right after you come in the big main room (not the guard tower area) and then follow the room all the way around. The merchant is not visible at first.

Putting things like that in a "Hard to get to place" makes you use your resources. They wouldn't put it there if there was no way you could get it.
There is more than one way to skin a cat. Ask a friend to get it, use your own sources such as the spells you have, make a toon in those places and use the shared bank, take a group to get it and get xp on the way.
Granted the in-game info sux. How would you even know you get this spell if it weren't for websites, let alone where to get it.

Come ON people. The major draw of MMO games is the interaction between people to achieve a goal. Whether its getting the location of a spell from a total stranger or grouping with 5 folk to kill a tough mob the point of the game is to work together. If you want it easy go play something else. I for one like the way you have to try a little bit harder to get some things. I dont want to see everything laid out within easy reach of the lazy prats that wont quest for items when they can buy all they need from the bazaar, or whine about having to explore the world they pay to get into when they need a new spell !
The most fun i think i ever get from this game is when i dont know whats around the next corner or when im traveling into a place i have never been into before. The game is called EVERQUEST for a reason, QUESTing is looking for something or striving to achieve something not going shopping in a fictitious online world.

Well said Bael. The most fun I EVER had in EQ was the first couple of months when I was a true newb. None of these spolier sites existed back then, or had minimal content, so getting from Kelethin to Qeynos was a real achievement.

Wasnt always easy finding that next spell/song, and while frustrating there was a sense of satisfaction after getting it. For this one, I can understand people not liking the location - lev 8 spell in a mid teens zone = danger.

But for the chanter wanting this, it shouldnt be overly hard to get to. Just lull the orcs/gnolls that are in the way, and run in. Only 3 or 4 max in the way. Once in the keep itself theres no KoS mobs on the way to the vendor, and you can gate out.

Suck it up, live with it. Game isnt about having everything handed to you, but to make you work for your goals. It isnt ALL EasyQuest.

I have to agree with these two posts, and disagree with the earlier ones.

This spell isn't hard to get, its pretty easy really, especially now, with the PoP books.

Snag a Sow in PoK, zone to misty, run thru rivervale. Invis at Kith zone, and run along the wall to HHP zone. Recast invis. Zone in, run thru orc area, past serpent supply, and then to HK. Zone in, head to library, and find merchant, buy spell.

OH HOW DIFFICULT CAN IT GET!!

Mages used to have to ride the boat to OOT, then swim to an island to buy some of their pet spells. This is a joke by comparison.

Also, note that you only need to do it once, as you can buy and bank all the spells when you go the first time.

EVERY spell should not be handed to you on a silver platter. its GOOD that you have to experience danger, and learn a bit about the game zones, to get this spell (which isn't necessary to play the class anyhow).
RE: Get a Grip !

I truley have to agree with the 3 of you, in fact, i hate the Planes of Power add on. No one uses the boats because you can just click on a tome to transport you all over the map. So if you do that you don't journey all over the world (which is hard) but when you finaly get there you actually acomplished something. PoP is like starting to game at lvl 50, what realy do you have to work for, the game is about journing into the unknown and you just don't do that anymore. Same thing with the ingame map. Rather then that you should have gotten some real life paper maps that you need to use sense heading to find where you are. Bottem line , PoP is a Cheat Code , that ruins all the fun.

Will see if I can create character in HK,
buy spell by exchanging items in share bank
not too difficult I suppose, but does rather
ditract from the game by stupid descision by soe,
by no means the worst though , lol ,
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 15 2003 at 8:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) if you cant get to HHK at lvl 8 you are a frikkin moron, the spell was put there for a reason , to make you have to at least work for something on the game, who cares if you have to run for days to get it, at least its a challenge , who wants to have everything handed to them. however i do agree with the fact that enchanter pets are retarded but they do help to some extent. you do get charm at lvl 12 and that should surfice for the uslessness of the enchanter pets

You know as a level 8 spell, this shouldn't be as difficult to get as it is. Even with PoP ports and using invis and illusions where necessary, it's just too much of a pain in the **** to get. There's no way in hell this, or any other level 8-9 spell for any caster class, should be sold anywhere other than in the guild halls or the PoK library, which doesn't have it either.

Got to reply to old Tormented. Firstly, take a long hard look to yourself before you start calling other players 'frikkin morons' (sic) - yore spelin iz atroshus. You have missed the point of Eventide's post. He raises valid points about game balance. Don't know about you Tormented, but I want to ENJOY playing any game in which I choose to invest time and money - it is not work - it should not be a chore. Going to the inaccessible High Hold Keep simply to buy spells is TEDIOUS, TEDIOUS, TEDIOUS. There are plenty of challenges in EQ without having to spend precious time chasing spells because of the whim of some developer. After 4 months play, the initial novelty of being able to interact with other players online is fast fading and I am finding myself getting more and more irritated by the poor quality of the gaming experience. The 'Fed Ex' nature of most of EQs quests is old fashioned and made unnecessarily complex (and hence BORING). Finding out that I have to go to HHK to get spells for my alt's disappointing pets has not enhanced my gaming enjoyment one whit. By the way, getting Charm does not 'surfice' (God Tormented - buy a dictionary man) for crap pets in my opinion - more thought should have gone into pet design - what a wasted opportunity. I repeat, a game should be fun not a chore. SoE take heed for EQ2!

One vendor??
# May 02 2003 at 3:37 AM Rating: Default
what is eq thinking? this is totally illogical, first off they give enchanters a completly useless pet that only attacks when you get attacked and you can't even control the damn things, now they make it so that you can only find the spell for the useless pet at one vendor, not to mention a vendor that is not very friendly to dark elves anyway, (and yes i don't need to be reminded of the illusions we get) this is totally bogus and lame, not to mention a complete waste of time. is it so hard to make at least one more vendor that can sell it?? oh well.

I think the idea is to make the young enchanter explore the World and to use his spells such as invisible and illusion. The game isn't just about getting lots of exp and pp - but to explore, have fun, and meet other peeps. I have a lvl 56 Paly - but enjoy trying to figure out other lower level characters as well. To each his/her own. At least Allakh. tells you were to find it :=))

Umm all you have to do is invis yourself.
I'm sorry but in response to all the posts stating how unhappy they are with the pet/one vendor thing, invis'ing yourself is no biggie, only takes a sec to cast and with PoP should only take you a relatively short time to get there. Life as enchanter never claimed to be an easy one Smiley: wink

PS: If its such a hassle for you , don't forget to buy the others while you are there. If you look, most all the other pet spells are sold only here as well.

And yes I think its evil to do this but how about the DE illusion spell sold only in the town of Dark Elves, or have they fixed that yet.
