I used to make this spell and sell it when you made it from pages. Sure you can carry bat wings. You can also run around and get lev buff from someone that has this spell. Btw it will not cast on anyone under 40, not sure exactly where the cutoff is anymore, but I am always glad when I can cast this one on my alts. The time I apperciate this spell the most is if I die and dont summon my corpse and need lev to get there. My bat wings would be on the corpse but if I dont need them its one less problem to deal with. If you dont like someone charging the going rate for this spell, lvl up your research skill and undersell them :)
no point in getting this one
# Feb 05 2008 at 2:00 PM Rating: Decent
As i look in the bazaar i see this spell for sale for 3k.Being you can vender buy bat wings now and they stack to 100 there really isnt a point in buying this spell anymore.I buy a stack of 100 wings and it will last me 6 months.
no point in getting this one
# Mar 01 2008 at 5:04 PM Rating: Decent
Eh, for the record, unlimited batwings have ALWAYS been available from vendors. At least they were from the very beginning of 2001, when I began playing. So the spell's _never_ been useful. =P

We are having display issues with some of the recently added recipes. They should be fixed this ASAP.

Was going to get this spell, but looks like too much of a hassle imo. Here's a good alternative:

Project illusion AA+air ele illusion.

Little-known up side of that: you can levi someone from anywhere in the zone, there are no distance restriction.s

Level restriction
# May 11 2005 at 6:06 AM Rating: Decent
can only be cast on level 49+ unlike the batwing version~)

I use it alot indoors and underwater to help inturupting casting while swiming.
RE: Level restriction
# Feb 05 2006 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
There isn't any level restriction on toons that this can be cast on; I have a 65 wizard and my druid just hit 50, can definitely be cast on any level player, in or out of your group.

From what I've read elsewhere, you can't cast spells over level 50 (ie., 51 and higher) on characters below level 45.

The reason people are reporting different results when casting this on low level characters is that it depends on the level at which the caster can learn the spell.

From the info for the spell:

â—¦Enchanter level 51

â—¦Wizard level 50

â—¦Druid level 50

â—¦Shaman level 51

So for wizards and druids, this is a level 50 spell and they can cast it on low level characters. For enchanters and shaman, this is a level 51 spell, so they can't cast it on low level characters.

Just to confirm this, my druid just cast this on my level 17 ranger and it worked.

pure greed to charge anything over 3k for this spell itas not the players fault, itas sony's they destroyed the economy of eq when they took over from verant putting prices higher, causse drops were so much lower, i remember making 200-300 pp b4 sony in mistmoore in couple hours, now would take 2 days.
I will get this spell for my enc, as i like to buff others,I wont buy it I will go kill to get it, u appreciate more if u put hardwork into getting, also notice i rarely charge for buffs, off my mains, a cleric, and wiz.

physic 67th priest of tunare, 7 other chars on AB and mains on TM wiz aurei 65, and various others on MT and live for today as tomorrrow u may die
5k 5min

you GOT to tell me where to make 5k in 5min i am one POOR druid
# Jul 17 2004 at 10:29 AM Rating: Default
The point of this spell is that it use no components. That means not having to carry batwings. 5k is expensive for this spell, however 5k is not a lot I can make that in 20 minutes of farming. You just need to know where and how to farm.

Woooo. Ok, time to through the flag on that one. The only way this might be true is to farm some item that sells in the bazaar for 5k and then at that you have to wait for someone to come buy it. No, I am sorry but there is no way to get 5k in 20 min.

whats this good for?
# Jul 14 2004 at 9:38 AM Rating: Decent
I'm still trying to find out what this spell is good for. The only benefit I see is that it does not seem to consume batwings (which dont cost much), but people on the bazaar (kd) keep offering it for 2,5+kpp.
I did not buy it.
I did not need it.
Lvl 54 gets you SOE, which is also batwing-free levi plus run speed and see invis and it costs remarkably less (on my server).
Keep using batwings until 54.
One stack of batwings satisfied my needs of levitation for this range (51-54)

I now see the point that SOE is outdoor only and sometimes you need to levi buff your raid in dungeons (d'uh)
#xtcid, Posted: Dec 09 2003 at 7:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hmm going on corpse run and need to lev, why not cast air elemental. i guess thats right no real use for this spell

RE: change

Apologies, I didn't realize, I have never played an enchanter or a mage, Thus I thought he was speaking of an air elemental.

RE: change
# Sep 02 2004 at 2:09 PM Rating: Default
think before you speak, he is referring to illusion air elemental that enchanters get that has auto levi attached to it.

Maybe because not everyone gets that spell. DUH!!!
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 29 2003 at 8:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This spell is compleately USELESS no bat wings??? HELLO!! you have 2 illusions that have lev on them! imp and air elemental! and if one of them one cast.. than u cant cast lev anyway.. yes there are extreamly rare occasions whare it COULD be used.. but dont hold your breath.. for 5k?? heh i would rather just buy a damn lev potion. ive never ben soo discusted at the design of spells.
# Oct 28 2004 at 8:26 PM Rating: Decent
HELLO!! you have 2 illusions that have lev on them!

Well, maybe you do, but shamen wizards and druids do not.

moving on...
batwings don't cost that much

Read the date on the posts about how it's handy on a corpse run when your batwings are on the corpse, back then they didn't have a vendor who stocked batwings and they were like bone chips, newbs farmed them for pp.
# Feb 11 2004 at 1:32 AM Rating: Decent
The point of this spell, I believe (for Enchanters), is so that we may cast a levitation spell on a group member without the component cost. It's hardly worth 5k though, as the batwings don't cost that much, nor do they take up that much room.
# Apr 23 2004 at 9:53 PM Rating: Decent
I also use this spell when I am in Scaled Wolf illusion, because of course Air Elemental and Imp won't work (duh). This allows me to run fast and levitate, no component required!

Another advantage, on a Corpse Run you don't need to have bat wings (normally found on your corpse).
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 29 2003 at 6:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oh, forgot to mention - I have seen this spell go for this much money at times.

The only time this spell would really get much use, would be those occasions that you are in a dungeon, in which SoE cannot be cast, or for that short period of time between when you hit 51 and get this, til you hit 53 and get SoE.

Would be real handy for corpse runs, when all the batwings are on your corpse :)

As far as costing 5k, from what I hear, its rare. It has occasions it would be useful, and for many high end players, 5k is chump change.

Well, the post I replied to has been changed since my reply. However, originally, the guy SAID he was a druid, and didn't see much use in getting this spell.

SOOOOO, my reply was geared toward a druid, since thats what the post said. If you look carefully, you'll see he edited his post about 6 hours after I replied to the original.

Yes, I can read the spell description, I see its not druid only. I was just trying to point out the times it would be useful, FOR a druid, since he asked.

I like O'Keils for Traveling Cause it last much longer than Levitate. I would use Levitate when in groups that take on casters and such. Cause i would use 44 Resist Spell.

I just got this spell and cant cast on anyone under lvl 46 whether they ar in my grp or not.

Is that right? Cant be cast on a lower level ? Or is the spell bugged due to recent patch ?

Anyone know ?

You are corect. It cant be cast on lower than 46. Of course it doesnt say that in description of the spell. So your stuck with bat wings if you want to cast on lower level friends.

If you look at the okiels levity and this ull notice that this is much better spell. u can cast it on others, the mana is less and the casting time is better. and it can be cast on others as sum1 mentioned. the best part is that it stacks with our lvl 44 elemental armor. Okiels Levity does not. so u would be losing sv cold. sure a 5 DS is OK but how much do u reaqlly get hit that u need it that badly.... if u need infravision turn up ur gamma or buy one of the vision spells... cause this spell is alot better then okiels

What would be the major difference of the lower Lev, O'Keils Lev and this higher level Lev?
RE: Differences
# Apr 22 2003 at 6:02 PM Rating: Excellent
Levitate requires can be cast on anyone in your party and requires a bat wing.

O'Keils Levity is self-only, requires no reagent, and also includes a damage sheild, infravision, and raises fire resistance.

Levitation can be cast on anyone in your party and does not require a bat wing.

Levitate can be cast on anyone, regardless of whether they are in your group. Is Levitation group only? I imagine it can also be cast on anyone, inside or out of your group.

whats the recipe to research this spell?
RE: research?
# Apr 17 2003 at 4:56 AM Rating: Decent
Depends largely on who is researching it, wiz or enc. www.EQtraders.com has the complete lists for LoY researched spells. I believe www.castersrealm.com also has it too. But I do know for certain that it can be researched. Only questions is if say a wizard were to research it using the druid/shaman recipe, would the wizard be able to scribe it? There are 3 different recipies for this spell - Wiz, Enc, and Dru/Shm.

Wiz recipe - rune of conglomeration, rune of current, parchment, quill.

Enc recipe - yaeth's compendium pg. 65 left, yaeth's compendium pg. 65 right, parchment, quill.

Dru/Sham recipe - yaeth's compendium pg. 70 left, dew clover, parchment, quill.

And before someone flames this, Int casters can research Wis caster spells now with LoY.

To answer your question Vyrndraven, yes. All of the new researched spells can be scribed by any class that can use the spell regardless of the recipe used to make the spell.

The result of the Wiz recipe is exactly the same as the result from the Enc recipe and Priest recipe.

The same goes for Everlasting Breath and the other spells that are usable by multiple classes.
