Does Not Help Bards
# Aug 19 2005 at 1:27 PM Rating: Decent
this spell has no effect on bard fizzle rates, if your haveing problems with a new song train up the skill it requres and get the best insterment you can for it, nothing else will help you sing it with out fizzles, the reasion for this is that this spell with out changeing your actuall skill level raises your abj alt evo div and conj skill levels by +30ish (or 6 levels) to do that for a bard would rais there singing, stringed, percussion, brass, and wood skills up +30 when you do that to a bard there song would be more powerful because its your skill level as a bard that determans how much haste your song gives or how much hp you regen or how much dammage that dot lands. so if it were to raise your song fizzle check skills it would put your songs out of line with what sony wants, ie you would be stronger then sony thinks you should thats why they nerf bards non stop.
Fizzle

It works like this, notice that when your skill raises what use to take 10 times to finally cast only takes 2-3, this basicly checks your casting 6 skill lvls on top of the ones u have. It does not increase your chance of actually landing the spell.
as for bards not sure if the added check makes yours spells stronger but good one to check
Location.

For those of you who don't have LoY, nor are familiar with Shadow Haven (like myself), this guy is loc: 1435, Neg 521. Upstairs! (in the Midst section).

At the lower lvls... You REALLY notice the help! Yes, you can still fizzle, but You can ALWAYS fizzle. Besides, it doesn't raise your individual magic skill just the effective lvl of the caster!

My question is... does it raise to effective lvl of further spells (like raising the HP add from Rune spells and such).
Resists
# Jun 26 2003 at 7:37 AM Rating: Default
I think this spells intent is not to reduce fizzling, but to decrease the chance of spell resistance. I'm sure we've all had the experience of casting a spell on a higher level mob and it resisting. Mez and root line in particular. The reason it is resisted is because for every level a mob is higher than you the higher you're caster level has to be for spells to land properly. This paired with the tashani line of spells will be excellent for spell successes and charms, and I can't wait to try it out.

Have you ever played "Fallout 2", where "Perks" in the game give bonuses to stats only for certain calculations? Well, either way, that appears to be what's up here.

Casting level affects frizzles, resists, and spell power. (Most spells are stronger or/and last longer at higher casting levels.)

BUT- This spell, according to the game description, only does one thing: reduces chance to fizzle.

So, my guess it, it does one of two things:
1. Makes your character's level appear to be six higher than actual while making the fizzle calculation, leaving your level as-is for the rest. Such as, a 20 Chanter casts C1 with a fizzle check of a 26 Chanter.
-OR-
2. Makes your spell casting skill appear to be six higher than actual while making the fizzle calculation. Such as, a Chanter with 150 Alteration casts a spell as though with 156 Alteration.
bards?

Does this work for bard songs? My bard is 30 and has trouble with missed notes (fizzles) on newer songs. I was wondering if anyone knew if this would help.
Improve Resists?

Just wondering .. but wouldnt increasing your casting level improve your chances of the spells landing? Arent resist level based? Casting on a red mob is a great chance of resist. If your level is 6 higher, and the mob is even or blue, wouldnt that stun or mes or slow have a better chance ot land?

NOT useless

this spell reduces chance of fizzling while casting spells AND failure with tradeskills. It really helps when you cast this AND have someone cast Koadic's Endless Intellect for the int and wis buffs and then sit down and watch your lvl in a tradeskill (mine was jewelcraft) raise from 65 to 95 in an HOUR!!! It might not sound like a lot, but when you lvl in jewelcraft once in every few tries and you fail only about 10% of the time, it kinda makes you excited about the spell, especially when, like in my case, you are almost broke =) Hope this helps

page 50 spell = junk
# Feb 18 2002 at 3:01 AM Rating: Default
An incredibly useless spell. For one thing, you still have a chance to fizzle no matter what and at high levels (level 54), you don't see any difference with the buff on or off. At best it is a placebo and mana burner.

What do I use it for?
I cast it (or the level 12 one) as a junk buff (the first 4 spells to be dispelled) on dragon raids. Works as a junk buff just as well as "see invis", "serpent sight" or endure breath.

Useless.

reduces fizzling

For the purpose of determining if a spell fizzles, this buff raises your effective level by 6.
