Bah don't go running all over the East Commons looking for this spell.
To be more accurate, it is found in the tunnel between East Commons and Ro.
The merchant closest to the Shady Swashbuckler is the one selling this spell, and it is relatively expensive (39pp for a cha 65 character)
Buy it now

You can now buy this spell in Plane of Knowledge from Pathfinder Arelat (sp?) for if I recall 3pp.
More info.

Unfortunately, this spell will not start rain, but it no longer requires an opal either. :) I've only tried it once on snow, but it did stop. Whether this was natural ending of the snowfall, or the spell I am not sure.

Hmmmm.... How did you get it to not use an Opal? I have attempted to and it says my spell was interrupted and was missing a component -- Opal.

thats because Karana is the rain goddess. lets put some roleplaying back into the RPG

If you had money to blow and like pissing people off, get a stack of opals and then start casting this spell over and over again, <rain off> <rain on> <rain off> <rain on> would **** alot of people off but would be quite fun

ODS vs Thurg Shawls
# Jul 08 2002 at 9:29 AM Rating: Decent
I'm working on my shawl quests, nearly done seven and wondering if it's even worth replacing my ODS with the shawls now that ODS has this effect..
RE: ODS vs Thurg Shawls
# Dec 04 2002 at 10:42 PM Rating: Decent
DEFINATLY get the 8th shawl. I specifically went for the no stat Torque so that I wouldnt be losing MP3 if I had the ODS and switched it out for the shawl.

# Oct 19 2002 at 4:02 PM Rating: Default
Heck yes....8th shawl rules all..
-
FT3 / Zephyr of Brell > 10 per mana pres
-
wear the ODS until 7th / 8th shawls
-
10 per mana pres is not that big a deal although it always helps

how MP 2 and MP 3 stack
# Jun 18 2002 at 3:52 AM Rating: Excellent
Mana preservation is not a "proc", it is a constant effect .... but if you have a MP 2 item and an MP 3 item, the lowest level one that can effect the spell you're casting is the one that is activated ... so cast a 45th to 60th level spell, and the MP 3 item will activate ... cast a 1st to 44th level spell, and the MP 2 item will activate .... if you had an MP 1 item, and cast a 1st to 20th level spell, the MP 1 item would activate before the MP 2 or MP 3 item .... since the level of the MP item only effects the level of the spell, and not the amount of mana preserved, this has no net effect on the caster. Regardless of the level of the item ( MP 1, 2 or 3 ), you'll always get the same total reduction in mana used.

Is there a real life exception to this? Without going thru all the classes and their spells, percentage heals are stated to be excluded from mana pres. 3 and not 2 for instance.
got one tonight

I play two chars a warr and chanter. The cristaline torque dropped of the named Garg. My grp was 59 rogue 55 cleric 54 warr 55 warr(me) 54 chanter(me) and 54 shammy. I told everyone that only the casters should roll cus with the new mana prevIII it is a caster item and we were NBG group and The war and rogue started bellyachin cuz i played two chars/they wanted to roll to sell it and it wasnt fair. We argued for 10 mins and they wouldnt let up so we all rolled........... My chanter got a 487 and got it. It goes off about 90 percnet of the time and is a great upgrade from cape of midnight mist 8)

You were in a pickup group in Velks. If something drops in a pickup group everyone rolls. Maybe if this was a guild group or a raid you could do merit points or something cute like NBG. Otherwise great drops like this dont drop often so when they do everyone rolls.
"proc"
# Jun 11 2002 at 6:14 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone know the how of when ODS procs? does dex contributed to %-chance of proc like weapon procs and such? Since patch, ODS has "proc-ed" on every last spell I've cast, without fail..seems more of a constant effect for me than a proc, the constant msg: "Your Obulus Death Shroud flickers with a pale light" has become a spam which would normally annoy me if I didn't know I was saving so much mana :P
question
# Jun 09 2002 at 10:36 AM Rating: Decent
quick question.....if one say wears multiple items that carry this effect...do they stack?
ie 2 items = 20% mana reduction?
RE: question
# Jun 09 2002 at 10:48 AM Rating: Decent
No, unfortunately, they don't stack, as only 1 will "Proc" at any given time.
RE: question
# Jun 10 2002 at 4:08 PM Rating: Decent
will this stack with other mana preservation II or I items, or was that what you meant by only 1 will proc?
For example...
# Jun 07 2002 at 10:10 AM Rating: Good
If you have a mana pool of 4000 (which alot of casters do at level 60), this item gives you +400 EXTRA mana. What someone wouldn't pay for an item with that much extra mana. Well now they can. :)
RE: For example...
# Sep 01 2002 at 1:31 AM Rating: Excellent
Now, its better than having the +400 mana, since you don't need to regen that mana back in the first place.

Only if the items "procs" all the time. After a few quad kites and a few regular kites I'm happy to report that my Obulus Death Shroud procs often, but not always. Occasionaly my Black Alloy Amulet (mana preservation 2) picks up the slack, but not always.
Still, it helps and realy anything that helps is good.

actually, it SHOULD 'proc' all the time.. It isn't even a proc. It is a worn effect that should work on all spells besides the Complete healing and armor-click spells (i.e. ES Vambs).

I have a crystaline torque and it is working for all the spells that I use that cost mana. Im 60 druid.
RE: For example...
# Oct 12 2002 at 4:29 AM Rating: Default
It DOES proc all the time for me unless I'm casting druid CH and thats understandable looking at the properties of the effect. Saying it doesn't proc for clicky items is kinda obvious as they don't use any mana so there's nothing to preserve.

If you just have the 3 version then it'll go off for all spells (limitations as shown).

Checking logs it also doesn't appear to proc with Crucible of Escape which casts Lesser Succor and steals mana just like the lvl18 spell but as it can be used when OOM you don't really worry about the mana preservation ;)

10 percent manareduction, this is some serious thing at lvl60 ofcoz =), found on Obulus Death Shroud, not a bad item to wear at 60
