Anyone know apx what level root this spell uses, ex: Enstill or Immobilize? I also am not sure of how to best use this in regards to the root/nuke technique. And don't flame me for still using this tactic, I know how to and do quad kite, but only in open zones and I prefer to solo in dungeons (more exciting, hehe). For added fun try quad kiting in a dungeon like sol B, I have only successfully quaded ONCE in a dungeon (sol A) and got severly tore up and oom, it is not a tactic for the sane.
I THINK only a wizard follower of Solusek Ro can cast this spell. Not absolutley certain though.
I tried this spell out for the first time in Eastern Wastes a couple of nights ago. While it may be a bit mana-intensive, it worked very well, especially considering that EW is in Velious, and would not be considered the best place to use a cold based spell.
Normally, i have to wait until a mob is down over a bubble of health before i can throw a nuke. This spell allows me to knock the mob down roughly a bubble of health right at the start of the fight. Once the tanks bring it down another bubble, i'll toss my biggest nuke, which typically leaves the mob with under 2 bubbles of health, and at the point where it's beginning to consider other career options.
If the root holds after the nuke, it's just a few seconds until the mob hits flight stage. If it doesn't, my channelling is high enough that i can get a mid-range nuke off to get it to run and let the tanks hack it down.
Grouped with a ranger and druid the other night, we took down an Ulthork that was yellow to me, but red to them. (They were both 38th level, i'm 39 as of this writing.) This was our first encounter with an ulthork, and we were caught by surprise by both how hard they hit, and the amount of hit points they have. Thankfully, i'd had KEI cast on me before we went on this night's hunt, so i was able to blast away with impugnity, and did. From FM, i was down to less than 40m at the end of the fight. Remember, with KEI, you get 25INT, and a huge mana bump in addition to the massive mana regen the spell gives you. I figure i used about 120% of my normal mana max on this one mob, doing just under 2700hp of damage to it. Elnerick's was over 900hp of that, sticking through 1 or 2 nukes each time.
All in all, i was VERY pleased with the first night's trial of this spell.

My Entill spell works much better than this root.. Root hardly ever sticks for me with this one, and less damage than 34 Ice shock, whats up ?
Just started using this one, and I really like it so far. When it sticks, it allows me to blast one or two heavy hitters before it wears off, and that's good for almost 1000hp, and the mob's still a distance from you. I wish there were more like this.
This bundle was a hit at a wedding I went to ;)
