(posting here too similar to my post on Rapture normal so I can help everyone looking up these spells)

So was really raiding hard for this thinking it was some amazing spell forgetting I had the normal rapture in my spellbook. I put them side by side expecting it to be some amazing upgrade it is off the hardest tier 1 raid bosses of Velious so it must be amazing right?

No...

This is a whole 50 mana less....so don't lose your marbles if you don't get this ancient spell drop or go crazy with dkp if bidding for it. 50 mana is not that big of a deal. Don't go crazy as I did with it being my first TLP in Velious.

I hardly use the normal rapture spell due to the long recast time and limited spell slots. 98% time I'm using Glamour of Kintaz! because I don't actually have a need to mez anything over 57. If in grp tell them to kill anything over 57 first. Problem solved. Soloing? Same situation. Now if you KNOW you will be fighting multiple things over 57 or like to bonus 4% bonus mem blur (over blanket math came to 36%?) for a mez+blur effect sure its useful with a well timed Wake of Tranquility.

Otherwise, the normal rapture spell is never on my bar so I don't expect this one to be either. Luc or PoP? I donno we'll see GL TLP enc's

This is quite worthless now.. When the ancient line was first here, before PoP.. It made sense to want this.. But considering, higher end.. How many of the mobs that you fight in the planes are below the 63+ lvl?

Change this to Anceint Bliss/Sleep and it makes it worth while..

Still has its uses, I imagine a good chanter can use this and rapture well on 2 mobs in an emp fight, providing they had gather mana, a strong mana pool, and good timing.

This spell is far form Useless even today, it is the only unresistable Mez in the game, none of the other Mez spells at higher lvls can say that.

Strictly speaking, what Sony claims to the contrary, this spell is NOT irrestistable. Certain mobs, such as the iron sentinel-like beings in PoH and in the Hole can resist this spell. They don't always resist it, true, but I've seen them do it.

Also, it is not the only mezz in the game with a 1K resist modifier. Enchanter AA Stasis has the same distinction.

That's not what he was talking about. Of the mobs that CAN be mezzed, this is unresistable. Obviously mobs that cannot be mezzed will not be affected by this...
Brilliant again EQ..

LOL,

It will take you 3 hours to get to lvl 61 so why hunt for a lvl 60 mez spell of named mobs that are 66+ when you can buy apathy in FV for 261p???

The spell drop should of been adjusted to drop off of common mobs in those zone instead of bosses..
does this work against being damaged?

i was in PvP in PoV last night, and i got hit with what i believe to be this spell. i had arch lich on and it did not cancel this out. i have been hit with reg rapture b4 and arch lich canceled it on the next tic, this however went the full duration.
vs Rapture

As far as I can tell, this is the same thing as the level 59 enchanter spell, Rapture, except it costs 200 mana instead of 250 mana.

They're both single-target unresistable mez's on mobs up to level 61 with a very long recast time (24 seconds) so you should still memorize your level 54 Glamour of Kintaz. They both last 42 seconds long. This Ancient version saves you a whole 50 mana. I'm thinking if I happen to run across this Ancient version, then great, but I'm not going out of my way for it. Why did Sony bother?

Now on the other hand... If you have both, that's 2 virtually unresistable mezzes you can cast one after another before you have to wait for the recast cycle.

Good point Yalar. :) I spent all my time griping about how useless Rapture is in a heavy situation, but having both would be a great benefit.

When you start getting later in the game, the 50 mana adds up and becomes quite precious. Another thing that makes rapture a GREAT mezz spell besides for the unresistable fact is that it makes a GREAT mezz TIMER. For the mezzes that have no downtime you just use your internal head clock to time the mezz. With this, I can usually count to 12 (1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, ...) and then I can start recasting and I make the best of my mana. For heavy cases this is also great because I keep this and one other mezz memmed. If a whole bunch of mobs are coming, I can initially cast this Rapture so that the first mob does NOT resist. (Guaranteed, not even just "VERY LOW" probability of resisting) Then I can liberally throw around Sleep or GoK, whatever for the other mobs who have come. It's great to be able to rest assured that the mezz WILL land. A mob resisting mezz during a critical situation can be very detrimental.

What does 2/61 mean?
RE: Anyone?
# Aug 22 2003 at 1:57 PM Rating: Excellent
2/61 means
a)this is a type 2 mez, and will overwrite/be overwritten by any other type 2 mez.
b)it can effect mobs up to level 61.
