how come no one says anything on how to get the spells all i hear is bickering about how hard it is to get if i worried about how har dthings are to get i would never get anything i for one have my first concussion spell and it took alot to get now i wanna go for the second one and i hear it is really hard to get anywho where do u get the spell??!!!
I belive level 60 ancients came from Luclin boss encounters?

Where does this spell drop ? what zone and what mob drops it ? any info would be very helpful.

can someone tell me where this drops at? or if can be made, what runes?
this is one of the best spells to chain with ice spear at lvl 60 and with all the focus items and ice flame it can be very powerful but now with the expansion of LoY we have frozen harpoon which is exactly the same spell as ice spear if i remember correctly,so for those who dont have capabilities of getting this u can always get FH
Not the same, worse ratio. Personally I'd be casting my draughts with a -50 resist check, but if the debuffs are really on good I'd ask a druid to cold debuff and wail away with ancient ice and ice spear. Though I wish they had just given us a lvl 64 lure of E'ci or something. Lure of Ice doesn't cut it sometimes...

Everyone says this spell is crap, though I beg to differ. Ice spear is a great spell for mana and damge output. This spell is basically the same spell 'cept for being less mana. Ice spear has a refresh time of about 6 seconds. So coupled with this spell, you can chain nuke ice spells. They also have a lower cast time than the other big nukes. Then once you get the ice spell focus at lvl 63, the damage will be up over 1600 + with focus items.
Granted that wizzies love to complain, but the ancient spells for wizzies are not to be complained about. I for one, wish I had em.

Ice Spear and Destruction of Ice are totally identical, except for the fact that DoI is no-drop and uses 50 less mana per cast. That's it.
You can cycle both every 17 seconds doing 2400 damage for 550 mana. That works out to 141 dps @ 4.36 mana efficiency. If you're on a horse, these are the spells that will let you cast forever without going OOM.
Both spells are focused by Iceflame of E`Ci, which boosts their damage another 30% at level 63, for a DPS of 211 @ 6.54 mana efficiency.
Add in focus items (MP3+ & SH3+) and you've got yourself a large damage output with a low mana cost.
These spells are far from "suck". In fact, they're pretty damn decent if you use them instead of just looking at the numbers.

3120 / 17 = 183,5 DPS
3120 / 550 = 5,67 mana efficiency

So Let me get this straight. Verant expects a wizard to gather, lets say about 20-30 experienced level 60 players. Take them into arguably the toughest zone in the game right now. Fight their way through to a level 75 dragon that summons other dragons to help it. Kill it, all for the chance of looting a spell that only difference from Ice Spear is that is cost 50 less mana to cast?
Or it could be the fact that 2 expansions later Vulak STILL drops some of the best items in the game, getting ancient spells is a nice perk to killing Vulak.

Not denying that there are great drops there. But the point of the Ancient Line of spells was to give the Casters of the game access to the same increase of power that Melees got with the Uber drops in this zone. The other caster classe's Ancient spells give a substantial increase in damage, lower mana cost and faster cast times. The wizards ones are not worth the trouble. Not saying I wouldnt go on a raid in this zone if invited , its just that this spell would'nt be a factor in the decession.

did nobody notice that there is no resist modifier on said spell so debuff with spell to lower cr and this is one kick *** spell for maintaining average damage it does coupled with concussion or ancient concussion and a wiz can pop of nuks like mad

It has the exact same resist as Ice Spear. Yes if you look at this spell on its own it is pretty good. If they put in on a Velious mob in a normal zone I would have no problem with it. The main point of my first comment still stands THIS SPELL IS NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE YOU HAVE TO GO THRU TO GET.
