great when shammies and chanters aint around
# Dec 24 2006 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
This is a must have when a slower isnt present.
Yes it produces aggro , but with jolting blades and having a jolt spell up that shouldnt be too much trouble. When presented with this situation i melee till this procs then i jolt and back away and use arrows.
the slow that this procs is rather good :)

The Ranger epics by far are the best melee class epic combo. you get 40%+ slow, the DoT, and 40% haste + attck. that in it's self is impressive, second like already mentioned dont use the damn thing in a raid unless you want to wipe the raid :) causing MT to lose aggro causes everyone a vrey painful death and possibly you lookinjg for a new guild, from lvl 50-59 i would expect it, after 59 if your not a gimp or MT you should be hitting with your bow, as your bow dps with AM3 and EQ plus the fury 3, max dex should be around 700 DPS, with having a decent for lvl bow :)

there is only the truth, everything else is a lie!

Ahem, 700dps? I don't think so buckoh. And I'm not going to bother backing up my claim.

the swift wind is ultimitly the better of the 2 if u think about it u can endup have a 13/10 weapon wich hits every 1 second and if u get a chanter or shm to give u hast u may end up with 13/5 or better u will have a steady stream of hits litteraly u may want to see if there is a fillter foryour own hits lol

First the lowest delay a weapon can get is 10. Second there is a filter for your own hits. Third the swifty IMO is better. Can't beat 40% haste from an item (you can but by only 1% not much differenc to me) and the 30 Attk. is icing on cake. :)

*edit for thrid reason :)

There is no minimum delay. That was true when it was not possible to haste somebody with the weapons that were available below a certain point. Remember, however, that the haste cap was 74% for a level 50. Even hasted 100%, however, Swiftwind delay is 10.5 = 11 (21/2). This is a great weapon for soloing or when there is no other slower with you, as the 50% slow combined with the 40% haste gives you a distinct advantage. Plus, against a mob with 5K HP, this can do 10% of your damage for you, not a small amount.

Curved Claws or a Wind-Worn Handblade at 100% haste (Which you can't achieve without Bard overhaste until level 59) are 11/9 weapons.

EDIT: Technically, hasting doesn't change the delay of a weapon. It speeds up your swinging. But you take the delay to figure out how often you will swing. Players can hit 125% haste now with the right combination or items/spells/Bard overhaste. So, no, there are no weapons I know of with less than 10 for a starting delay, but how often you hit is determined by: (delay/1+haste%) /10 = seconds between swings. Let's just say for an example that the Ranger has Swifty and Earthcaller, plus an Eyepatch of Plunder (20% spell haste), but no other haste on them (60%) total:

Swiftwind becomes: 21/1.60 = 13 effective delay. 13/13 weapon swinging every 1.3 seconds
Earthcaller becomes: 24/1.60 = 15 effective delay. 14/15 weapon swinging every 1.5 seconds

My bow, BFT, would go from 30/38 to 30/24 at 60% haste. Even if I had better melee weapons, the 40% haste helps archery a lot. The slow helps a lot.

No, at level 54 most groups will have a slower, but sometimes slow doesn't stick and a 500 point DOT is nice added bonus.

Ranger Epics are definitely worth it.!

42 wasn't enough to get started.....

Today, at level 42 my Halfling Ranger got the 'not experienced enough' message.....gonna retry everytime I ding and post again when I begin.....the 1st half sword is the hotness and this one might be better.....which do my fellow Rangers think is the better of the two.....?

46 is the minumum level, I tried at 40-45, and as far as Telin was concerned, I wasn't experienced enough until 46. Swiftwind is FAR superior to EC. Trust me. Especially in raid scenarios when the aggro from the slow will get you a whole lot of unwanted attention.

By the time you get this <Stupid SEoC drop rate> you wont be doing no slow in raid as by the time assist is called Shammy or Enc will already have slowed the MoB

it is true we don't need to slow in groups by the time we have earthcaller, but many rangers still embrace the fact that we CAN solo, and fear kiting ravens in nightmare for aa is much nicer when panic animal breaks and theyve been slowed.
