Call me stupid, but could someone please tell me what this spell is used for?

It's targeted AE mem wipe. Usefull for multi pulls. Tank pulls 5 mob's, mesmerize (ae mez which does have some agro on it) then Mind Wipe then proceed to Mez' them with a longer lasting mez. Or AE MEZ -> Long lasting mez -> then Mind Wipe. What I usually use mem wipe for is to clear me from hate list when my group is going to kill my charmed pet.
It is used to attempt to wipe a mob's aggro list. If I read the data correctly, it has a 15% chance of doing so.
I've used it in the rare instance that my party has a partial wipe and there are mezzed mobs still around. There weren't enough party members there, or they were too low on health/mana, to be able to kill the mobs once mez wore off. Move everyone out of the mob's aggro radius and cast this spell on the mob, and there is a chance that he will forget ever knowing you, and will return from whence he came. Only used it twice. First time he didn't forget us, and I think I re-mezzed and we zoned. Second time folks didn't listen and stayed in aggro range, or kept hitting him, so I don't know if it would have worked or not.
It is AoE too, so it works on more than one mob.

The beauty of this spell is its targeted AoE...if your mage AEs and suddenly everything is on him, target him and let this or mesmerization fly. This also works for areas where you aren't KoS...tho I can't think of very many places where you would be hunting and not KoS...
On second thought I would just use the AE Mez Mesmerization and our single target Blur...in most situations you're going to mem blur everything around your target, only to have everything jump back on your target because A) he forgot to turn off attack, or B) He's KOS to the mobs even if he isn't attacking.

This spell is sold in the PoK Library by Illusionist Sevat along with other lvl 39 spells.

Okies.. Will check in the bank, but would like to know where the left side of 288 is.. I have 6 right sides and no lefts to be found. ACK.. Please help thankies tons. :-)
According to the useless people that were on chat, this spell may or may not cause agro when cast on guards. I personally have had the goons in OT, and the DE guards outside of Neriak attack me for casting this on them as they chased someone around trying to kill them. Just info you might want about your spells.BTW, they both con'd indifferent or better to me.

Not sure wether this is for better or for worse but this is yet another formerly research only spell that can now be found in the library in the Plane of Knowledge.
And where, pray tell, in PoK can I buy this spell?

This spell is aquired through research. The required research pieces are the left and right halves of Salil's Writ Pg. 288. See the Mythrian Tower website for details.
