For the soloing mage, this spell is brilliant.
Don't waste your time complaining that this pet isn't a massive DPS boost, that's not it's purpose.
Spell lasts for at least 30 minutes, depending on your enhancements.
During that time, if you get hit by any adds, an earth pet spawns and takes on the add with melee and roots, giving you time to readjust.
It will even multi-spawn if there's another add and it can also trigger on rampage damage, giving you a nice feeling of revenge.
Not sure on its retrigger delays but it's a minute or two, I guess.
DPS-wise, it seems to be comparable with an unbuffed pet of this rank, so in 10 secs will do a fair bit of damage.
Saved my butt several times.

Just a bit more information on this spell for anyone who's interested.
The earth pet will root your attacker "%t is entrapped by the Rathe". I'd estimate the root at 8-10 seconds, similar to the regular earth pet. Max hit for mine was 274, with some flurries (negligible DPS).
You can have several of these up simultaneously, though their duration is limited (5-10 seconds apparently).
This is a fairly nice spell to have up in a pinch, especially if you're swarmed by low-hitting mobs.
