It should be noted that the Haste cap (the maximum effictive Haste, excluding v3, or "overHaste") is 100%. This spell grants 70%.

By the time you're in your late 50's, most melees are almost certain to have 30%+ Haste. This will grant max. Most high-end will have above 40%. That means that, the % Haste of your upper-end Haste spell doesn't matter in most situations.

This is important to remember since, well, people in posts below are debating whether or not to get the extra Haste of this spell, the extra stats of some later forms in the "Augmentation" line, or to cast both at the cost of mana and time.

Because even your stat-Haste spells will cause most of those you'd buff to be at the Haste cap already, it isn't neceissary to use this spell at all.
Not to knock it. I love 70% Haste! Just, there doens't need to be a headache over this.. you can simply use the Stat version.

Now, if you love to Charm (I know I do!), you're back to the same issue. Then, you'll have to decide:
-Augmentation line (Less Haste, but stats)
-Quickness line (More Haste)
-Both (Haste will be given by Quick line, stats will be given by Aug line)

Personally, I think both would be a headache, and I tend to finish off my low-life pets with other pets by forcing a decharm (normally invis self), so I'd go with Quickness. This is truly preference.

Icons stack, but not the haste
# Oct 19 2005 at 1:14 PM Rating: Decent
The icons for Sov and WR stack, but the haste doesn't. Tested it directly by examining bow firing rate with WR (70% haste), SoV (68%haste) or WR+SoV. Firing rate was essentially identical in all cases. Tests were performed without worn haste or any bard songs and all tests were performed on Al'Kabor ie the Mac server that only has expansions through PoP using the code base of approximately March, 2003 (the PC code at the time it was ported to the Macintosh). I do not know if the way haste is handled has changed on the Pc since March 2003, but on Al'Kabor, the icons stack, but not the haste effects.

Finally, worn haste + EITHER WR or SoV clearly do stack and increase bow firing rate up to the 100% haste cap for worn+spell haste. Certain bard haste songs and some AA abilities (Guardian of the Forest for Rangers for instance) allow the 100% haste cap to be exceeded.

Worth it?

Ok...

Aanya's Quickening:
  • 64% Haste
  • 24 Minute Duration
  • 275 mana to cast
  • 4 cast time

  • This spell is only 6% more haste.
Its duration is 5.6 (57) to 3.5 (65!) minutes SHORTER
    It costs 50 MORE mana
It takes 3 LONGER to cast

The only gain is 6% haste over AQ. Every other part of it is a flat out loss.

Well, it's a higher level spell for one thing, so what did you expect? Less mana cost? The haste is 70%, which makes it the fastest haste in the game.

As for the shorter duration, so what? You're telling me that you don't have a single option to extend the duration of your beneficial spells, like AA advancements, maybe? 20 minute haste, compared to what we've gotten in the past, like 15 minute haste, is still pretty good.

Longer cast time? No biggie. I usually haste between pulls or before pulls, not during.

A good way to stay on top of this is to simply haste your pet first. This way, you'll know when your pet's haste is about to drop that it's time to haste everyone else, too.

My thoughts, with many players around level 60 their weapons and item haste are just so fast that a level 58 chanter (who gets 240 ticks from AQ at ANY level and 184 ticks of WR at 58) will probably put them at the haste cap or close to it using either spell.

As far as buff extension works, it would apply to either buff proportionally, meaning that ratio of mana cost per tick of buff would remain unchanged between two spells. So you still spend more mana to cast a lesser lasting buff, which will fizzle more and add a small (if any) amount of haste, why bother?

Now for the numbers: I am going to leave out effects like mana preservation and buff extension, because as mentioned before they affect both spells the same way, so when comparing ratios between two spells, they factor in twice then cancel out.

Now, assuming you cast these outdoors on a horse so the longer cast time of WR which is longer than a tick doesn't cause you to lose an additional 20 mana each cast:

    AQ -- 64% haste. 24.0 minutes for 275 mana.
    WR -- 70% haste. 18.4 (L58) to 20.5 (L65) minutes for 325 mana.

AQ is 1.146 mana per tick.
At level 58 WR is 1.766 mana per tick. Thats more than 50% more mana.
At level 60 when you can scribe Speed of the Brood WR is about 190 ticks which is 1.711 mana per tick.
At max duration WR becomes 1.585 mana per tick, when you should have multiple better hastes in your spellbook.

Now Wonderous Rapidity is still the highest haste in the game (70% and 2% more than next best) so arguments can be made to that end, though situations where you are only interested in highest haste % are few and far between.

For the practical chanter, keeping AQ over WR until you get SotB will mean you spend less mana for little to no difference in players' combat rounds per mob.

the thing I think is being missed here is that VQ does more than just haste there are stat increases too where WR just does haste. So the upper level spells would be more of a benefit that this spell for that fact alone. Plus as said earlier that there is a capp on haste. you are allowed on spell and one item haste and the rest even if they stack dont count!! :)

OK, I agree with this post and here is my reason.

Let's assume you have an average weapon, let's pick a 1hs with 10 damage and 20 delay.

    using the haste formula:
    New (Hasted) Delay = Delay/(1+Haste)

    Swift would be 64%
    Rapidity would be 70%

    So, with swift you have 20/1+.64 = 12.20 as your new delay, that's 20 - 12.20 = 7.8 improvement

    Now, rapidity, you have 20/1.70 = 11.76 as your new delay, that's 20 - 11.76 = 8.24 improvement

    So, 10 damage /12.20 delay = .81 compared to 10 damage /11.76 delay = .85 is trivial.

Not much difference for the cost of mana.

Add a 41% item in, what do you get?

(semi-trick question, just to make an additional point for thought and fun)
