This spell is a sad joke. It lasts a measly 6 minutes at an emerald a cast. Checked yesterday in bazaar on emerald prices - 25pp each. Cast 10 times per hour per tank. You do the math.
I won't be using it.

Emeralds are less than 14pp a pop. And, hey, it provides +100 Dex. Outside the battle scenerio world.. tradeskills! +100 Dex will be more than made up for when tradeskilling up on more expensive combines.
As pharminatrix pointed out below, Ferine Avatar is a later upgrade (and quite a nice one!) which does not require this component. If you can't see the holiness of this spell, I'd suggest you ignore it until you have the chance to use its upgrade.

prices inthe bazaar 25pp per emerald?? I do believe that my brother's cleric when he's imbueing emeralds gets them for a lot less in felwith. I would suggest you try going to your home town if you're not KoS ther and have good faction.
As to the rest, my brother's shammy isn't high enough to cast it yet.

It's an expensive 6 minute ride no doubt. But I must disagree that its useless. It can be a life saver in a sticky situation, and against tough Nameds or Bosses. A tank can hold more aggro by proccing and having higher ATK, as well as survive longer with the extra AGI. Especially if the buffee has caps high enough to utilize those 100pts of boost, I consider using it on a case by case basis. If the group helps to defray costs of the emeralds I'm even more inclined to.. 
BTW you shouldn't be paying more than 13.6p per emerald. They are sold in unlimited quantitys on countless vendors throughout the game. Here are two links which have a partial listing of where to buy them.

One other thing, the lvl60 Avatar has a recast time of 3 minutes. So you need 3min before it will come online after memming and you must wait another 3min to do a second Avatar. The lvl65 Ferine Avatar has only 1min recast and no reagent required, it also raises stats by 140, and lasts an extra 30secs. All for only 25 more mana. A Very nice upgrade.
