Temperance vs Stacking
# May 02 2006 at 1:16 AM Rating: Decent
Temperance
AC: 18
Max HP: 800
Mana: 550
Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

Heroism
AC: 18(Lv 52) to 19 (Lv 60)
Max HP: 360(Lv 52) to 450(Lv 70)
Mana: 140
Duration: 1 hour 12 minutes

Fortitude
AC: 17(Lv 55) to 18(Lv 60)
Max HP: 320(Lv 55) to 380(Lv 70)
Mana: 175
Duration: 2 hours 24 minutes

Symbols of Marzin
Max HP: 640(Lv 54) to 700(Lv 60)
Mana: 350
Duration: 1 hour 3 minutes

Shield of Words
AC: 31
Mana: 300
Duration: 1 hour 12 minutes

So putting it all together...

Fortitude, Symbols of Marzin, and Shield of Words
AC: 48 to 49
Max HP: 960 to 1080
Mana: 825
Duration: 1 hour 3 minutes (then spells start fading)

Heroism, Symbols of Marzin, and Shield of Words
AC: 49 to 50
Max HP: 1000 to 1150
Mana: 790
Duration: 1 hour 3 minutes (then spells start fading)

Temperance
AC: 48
Max HP: 800
Mana: 800
Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes

If you compare the three, the best HP/AC buff would be the combo of Heroism, Symbols of Marzin, and Shield of Words. Yes, you may have 37 minutes less but I would rather have the hit points and better armor class than the length.

better than hb
# Mar 07 2004 at 3:03 AM Rating: Decent
Seems you guys dont understand that HB is a lower level HP/AC buff combined with Symbol and AC buff. All lower level buffs.

This spell is a higher HP/AC buff. if you were going for max hp/ac then you would use this instead of HB.

Maybe I don't understand. Here is what I found from this site:

Symbol of Marzin
Increase Max HP by 640 (L54) to 700 (L60)
Mana: 350
Duration: 1 hour(s) 3.0 mins

Heroic Bond
1: Increase AC by 18 (L52) to 19 (L60)
2: Increase Max HP by 360 (L52) to 425 (L65)
Mana: 420
Duration: 1 hour(s) 12.0 mins

Fortitude
1: Increase AC by 17 (L55) to 18 (L60)
2: Increase Max HP by 320 (L55) to 360 (L65)
Mana: 175
Duration: 2 hour(s) 24.0 mins

If you combine SoM with HB you get:
min.
AC - 18
HP - 1000

max.
AC - 19
HP - 1125

If you combine SoM with Fort. you get:
min.
AC - 17
HP - 960

max.
AC - 18
HP - 1060

To me HB and SoM is better. You get 1 more AC and anywhere from 40 to 65 more HP. As others have pointed out, the only benefit of Fortitude seems to be it lasts twice as long. I'd rather have the AC and HP. In truth, I'd really rather have Temp. than either of these combos.

Temperance
Increase AC by 48
Increase Max HP by 800
Mana: 550
Duration: 1 hour(s) 40.0 mins

Yes, it has 200 to 325 fewer HP, but it has 30 more AC. Won't a higher AC keep you from being hit as often? If I wrong someone please post.

Not only does Temp have less HP than these spells, but you're also forgetting to add in the AC buff you can stack with Heroic Bond + Marzin... which at this level would be shield of words - adding 31 more AC.

Temp at this level isn't as good for stats as the HB + Marzin + shield of words combo, but does only take one buff slot, is a group spell (w/ ldon), and has a longer duration than all three spells.

Fortitude offers a longer duration, but still needs to be comboed with other spells with lower durations, slightly diminishing it's usefulness.

I'd go with group temp, unless you're fighting something really tough. just don't forget that the heroic bond combo is out there if you need the extra hp on your tank.

-
Temp (and all aegolism type spells) is a combination of 3 cleric buffs.
HP/AC: Valor etc.
Symbol:Symbol of blah blah.
AC: Armor of the faithful etc.

All three types of spells can stack with each other, but won't stack with an aegolism spell.
The problem is that temp is a level 44 spell, so it's weaker than heroic bond (level 52) shield of words (level 49) and Marzin (level 54) comboed at level 55... just so it's clearer.

I Recommend using Fortitude only if you have only one or two people to buff (so you don't use heroic bond), and need the maximum possible HP on your target (so you use Fortitude + symbol + AC instead of temp.)

Temp is loy btw.
Anyway another thing to keep in mind is if you are with a druid 49+ of the same level you should prolly have the druid do there skin series for the tank and the cleric handle the symbol/ac. One thing I really hate is clerics that like to cast virtue when there is a druid in the group. Not only is the hp/ac combo better the druid buff also adds more hp/mana regen (depending on level). Before 60 druids hp buff has a hp regen on it and 60+ it will have mana regen instead.

Yes temp is Loy.. but Blessing of Temp (group version) is ldon ..
and your math is a bit off with skin like nature (49 druid skin). Heroism and heroic bond do not stack with the druid skin. They add 18 ac and 360 hp, which is more than SLN. However, at 49 clerics have Resolution(at 50 ac16/hp250) not HB/Heroism. And instead of Marzin they have naltron (hp 525). At 49 they do have shield of words though (ac31).
We'll figure the numbers at lvl50 since both the cleric and druid buffs cap at 50.
All cleric buffs = ac47 and hp775
If you substitute Resolution with SLN you get the same, just an extra 2hp per tick.
Temp adds 48ac and 800hp. Not a huge difference really, but only a single cast. Being that I have a 58 druid, I know the argument of the 2point regen. After playing a cleric into the mid 50's I say "so what? keep that crap off my tank!" Why? simple, if you are relying on an extra 2hp per tick to keep your tank alive then ALL of your healers suck and your group was doomed from the start. However, if you want to argue using druid skins for bards, rogues, rangers and other dps and your casters, then it's valid. Since they (if they know what they're doing) don't generaly hold agro for long periods, the regen will save the healers mana by making up that much more difference while they don't have agro.
Once druids hit 57 and get natureskin then using that instead of the hb becomes feasible once again as nature skin adds 18ac and 391hps at 57 and hb would only be adding about 385 (estimated) hps at 57.
It's a hard fact to face I know.. I rather enjoyed the days when my druids buffs were considered worth while for all, but now days, druids are better off buffing the dps/casters and leaving the tanks in the clerics hands /nod.
not worth it but was before temperance
# Oct 26 2003 at 6:12 AM Rating: Default
If not mistaken this spell was long before temperance and can be cast on ANY level. Not group to use in a serious group situation, believe it was ment at a buff for little ones before the temperance quest was released with LoY
worthless
# Sep 14 2003 at 7:20 PM Rating: Decent
Just cast HB, you'll have plenty of time to regen the mana by the time it wears off. This is just a dumb spell really.
no not missing anything
# May 19 2003 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
The only way I would add this spell to my spell book would be if I got the drop. And then I would never use it. HB is better with the exception of how long it will last. I think I will take the HP and AC over duration.
Am I Missing Something?
# May 02 2003 at 6:45 PM Rating: Decent
At it's absolute BEST, this spell grants the bear minimum of Heroism, a spell 3 levels lower. It has double the cast time and even costs more mana. The only benefit noticable is the duration which is about double. Small tradeoff for all the other downsides it seems. And since there isn't a group buff version of it, it can't really be used for PLing either. I feel jipped...
