No, you didn't. You bought Dead ManFloating from Ealyson in EF. The group version is researched or looted. This spell is the group version.
dead "men" floating random duration

i would just like to note that the group version is random duration. i learned this while camping Lord Bergugle in Lake Rathetear (for the cleric epic in the underwater tower). the single version is innate, but the group version is random duration.

Are you sure you were not dispelled? The mobs there (at Lord Berg camp) are casters and they do dispell.

This spell has a set duration and does not fade early.

on my server, if you want this spell, you either save up 6-10k and buy it in bazaar, or loot it from chardok. Words of Agony are harder to get then the spell itself, several dozen times over. When Words of Agony finnaly pops in bazaar, its ussualy 10-20k! I vote to just save yourself the trouble of another hard to get spell that you dont really need, be a little more patient with DMFing your group, and just single target cast everyone, it doesnt cost much mana.
Trivial
# Nov 05 2004 at 1:18 AM Rating: Decent
Dead Men Floating is trivial at 176 - unlike the other four level 49 spells which are trivial at 182. I just Combined it at 174 Research w/ Geerlok and was almost expecting a failure, since Caster's Realm reported GDMF as being 188 trivial.
What a pain

Not everyone has options to do raiding in chardok and the worst part is if you ever do see this spell for sale in bazaar.. 10k+ easily. It would be nice if there was an alternate way to get it as well.

What a pain? 25pp? 400pp? I WISH
Have yet to see agony under 4k on karana!
Been hunting merchants for weeks with no luck. Oh well, someday this spell will be mine.

There IS an alternate way to get this spell...

spell research.

Words of Agony + Words of Asylum + Quill + Parchment. Combine them in your Warlock's Book of Binding.

I see from your Magelo profile that you have a spell research of 200. You should have no problems creating this spell.

Words of Agony can be found in the bazaar... they're kind of rare. However, if you get lucky, people are selling them for 25 plat. If you are unlucky, people are selling them for 400 plat. Words of Asylum can usually be found in the bazaar for less than 100 plat.

My main server is Quellious also, and I have been playing EQ since it came out, and I have yet to of seen words of agony for sale for anything less then 10k. So I *know* you are getting words of agony mixed up with some other one.

With the no drop research book words are

Agony + Asylum. Think it is trivial at 180ish
This Spell

This spell is especially usefull because it gives up to 70 to PR, gives the caster an especially long lasting enduring breath with no reagent needed (fish scales), and enables see invis to the caster. The Levitate is also nice, but some people who would like the buff for all the other stuff it does, don't get it at raid time because they don't like to Levitate. This is one of the must have spells for a Necro.
LORE
# Jun 17 2003 at 6:54 AM Rating: Decent
This spell is LORE! If you should happen across 2 or more copies of Words of Agony, make sure that you scribe first copy of GDMF or give to alt before researching 2nd copy. Even if you succeed in researching you will be left crying with "duplicate lore items not allowed" message and an empty cursor as I was. :(
Researchable Now
# Mar 03 2003 at 2:20 AM Rating: Good
This spell is researchable now with the LoY expansion. You need a new research book from Researcher Alvarik in Gunthak--say to him "I am a necromancer." The words required to create it are Asylum and Agony. These are new words that drop with the expansion and I have found that all of the new words are kind of hard to find and drop off high lvl mobs(eg. Words of Constancy drop deep in Chardok).
Incidentally, this information is thanks to http://necro.eqclasses.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14758.
