As far as I know, we have the recipe producing the correct item (although the recipe isn't displayed above). Please let us know if not.

Failure

This tends to wear off as soon as it lands, even on blue mobs (reminds me of how Grasping Roots lasts longer than any of its upgrades, actually).

Can this be researched with Runes?
Researchable?
# Jun 28 2005 at 8:41 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, If this is researchable, what words do necro need to do the combine for this scroll? Yes I see pages 400 and 401, however Necros do not do the page combines. Any help would be great and appreciated!

Crippling Force is the only words necessary for this spell. The spell can be bought in the bazaar on Tribunal for under 20pp. The words seldom sell for that price (usually over 50pp).

Good Luck,

Looked for this in bazaar and could not find, used wizard to research it. The scroll fom the wizard combine is seable by CLR SHM WIZ. It required Rune of Rathe, Rune of Crippling, triv 182.

Crippling Force and the words for all the lvl 49 spells drop fairly commonly off the Vampyre Bats and Reanimated Drudges in the Maiden's Eye. The bats, drudges, and coterie along the eastern zone edge are all undead, and shackle of spirit is a huge help. A group of lvl 49+ can camp drudges and bats with the necro using Shackle of Spirit and the various vs. undead spells to great advantage. Coterie, by the way, are immune to our undead Charm spells and our undead pacifiers like Rest the Dead.
Look for the right spell.

There are several versions of this spell. All have the same name but certain scrolls can only be scribed by certain classes. Just check scrolls in the bazaar for the appropriate class. I bought one scroll for 15pp on xegony that I couldn't scribe, then realized I had to buy the right one for my class for 50pp. The spells are there, you just need to find the correct one for your class.

I got the spell Paralyzing Earth and it doesn't say it is for a Necro 49. It does say it is for the Cleric. Can I still use this one?

Use your lvl 34 Root - Its MUCH Better!!!
# Oct 22 2003 at 7:13 PM Rating: Default
According to the Lucy website, the level 34 root costs only 30 mana, has a 2.0 second cast time and a 2.25 second recast time AND 25 Fizzle Adjust (a modifier that lowers the chance your spell will fizzle).

Paralyzing earth takes 0.5 seconds longer to cast, 0.25 seconds longer to recycle and has no fizzle adjust (so its more likely to fizzle). Considering that your normally casting root or PE in a hurry (i.e. an angry mob is bearing down on you), the extra cast time and recast time (in the case of resists and/or multiple mobs) is a big disadvantage.

The supposed advantage? 3.0 min max duration v.s. 48 seconds on Root.

I most often use Root when root rotting. As I'm sure you guys know, each time a DOT does damage, there is a chance for root to break. When a mob has 2-3 dots on him, there are 2 to 3 "rolls" to see if root will break every single tick. As a result, even the lvl 34 root rarely lasts its full duration. So the chance that you'll cast PE on a dotted mob and watch him stand in place for a full 3 minutes w/o your spell breaking is almost non-existant. And even if that were possible, with affliction efficiency, Root only costs 20 mana, PE costs 75. I can cast root almost 4 times for pretty much the same mana cost.

And just so you know, the resists on both spells are the same - standard magic resist with no resist adjustment.

P.S. I personally have noticed that PE gets MORE resists. This just may be due to the fact that I just got the spell (I kinda suspect that "new" spells resist and fizzle a bit in the beggining until you have cast them many times).

Actualy this is not true at all root has a chance to break each time direct damage is done to the mob, but dot damage does not give root an increased chance to break with the exception of any dot that has direct damage. Example- 150dd 149 per tick - the 150dd gives chance of root to break the 149 per tick does not.

You have it backwards, the Fizzle Adjust makes it MORE likely to fizzle than another spell of the same level and school. Nevertheless, it seems like the opposite maybe because you are comparing a 34 spell to a non-fizzle adjusted lvl56 spell (which will fizzle a lot because of its newness and high level).

Is 2 different spells; for instance depends on who does the research...as opposed to dropped loot...other one has 3 classes that can use, wiz and enc among them.

This spell is no longer usable by Enchanters or Wizards. Don't know why or when, but now it is only cleric, necro and shaman.

I don't know how you figure that... seeing as how my 49 wizard researched it and yes... scribed it just this morning...

Because s/he sees it on the spell probably. Same spell name, but different "copies" are scribable by the listed classes only.
