I can confirm that, Nope, this spell can't be obtained via merchant on the Fippy Darkpaw (Timelock progression) Server as of Dec 6, 2011. I've just checked the last merchant and they do not exist as of yet. I reckon that our pets will just have to ketchup and keepup! ;P

As this spell is sold at Abysmal Sea on Luclin, it likely was a Luclin expansion spell so not available on TLP servers until that expansion is unlocked. You can check in at the Commonlands seller after new expansions open to see if they put it in but we probably have to wait a shile.

There are many scenario's as to when this spell is useful, others besides my previous post, when traversing large zones with sow, youll leave your pet behind.... have this spell memmed and if you get agro 3/4 of the way across zone, and your pet is still far behind you, cast this spell and bam pet is there and on the mob with agro, while you either continue on to zone, or get ready to kill it, the uses for this spell are endless
yes its useful

yes this spell is very useful, if you dont think it is do this.... zone into crystal caverns and head to geonids. Once there sit and wait for pet and see how long it takes it to catch up. OR.. once at geonids, cast this spell and bam, theres pet.

I have used the Ribbon of Empathy to summon a dire charmed pet several times just this past weekend. Several months ago I used the spell itself to summon a normally charmed pet. Hope that helps.

As a Magi I can say this spell does have it's uses and is not worthless.

1.) TRUE- Pets no longer aggro mobs by being in aggro range (Thank God).

2.) TRUE- Pets still dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to pathing. They take NPC path vs. the way you want them to go.

3.) TRUE-Pets can NOT be summoned while they are on any mobs aggro list anywhere at anytime.

A good example of the use for this spell was mentioned below in a previous post. If you are traveling in a zone with nasty drop offs and cliffs (Sol Dungeons, the Deep, Velks, etc etc) telling your pet to attack a mob will get you the "Attacking %t master" response you hope for, but it may not get your pet to actually do it. If your pet fell down a pit, under water, etc etc it will not actually get to attack until it 'warps' (for lack of a better description) out and pops ontop of the mob you pointed out for it. This warp can take as little as 3-4 seconds and I have had it take up until I actually killed mob myself THEN used this spell to get the pet caught up to me.

Remember pets are just NPC's that you can boss around. They travel the same lines as what your killing and they 'warp' just like they do too.

4.) TRUE - Telling your pet to attack %t will get you the response you want & if you use this spell, as soon as pet pops to you, it will be off on its attack. If you have changed your mind about wanting that mob attacked, make sure to /pet back off or /pet hold before you cast this or as soon as your pet arrives, or it will be off killing what you asked it to.

To back up what you said, I have been using this spell quite a bit while farming velium in Crystal Caverns. My pet frequently falls off the edge or becomes confused* within the labyrinthine passages of CC. This spell brings them back from wherever they have fallen or snaps them out of their dizzy spell.

*Rapidly paths back in forth in a space of 5 steps.

I have been farming in a cave area. Some of the mobs are trapped in the walls, preventing new spawns from being available. I use the pet to kill the trapped mobs, typing /pet attack a xxxx. However, after killing the mobs, often the pet becomes trapped. Zoning or camping brings pet back. But using this spell avoids that inconvenience.

Just a quick 2 cp's worth...Basically ill get my lil 35 black bear pet buffed as well as poss, he can take all my 54/55 buffs that usuall lowbies cant???, and then ill port to a zone i want to farm in..This case Grimling. I will gaurd him at the port in and soe my way to where i want to farm at...Usually this will entail a lil dodging around camps, but occasionally ill pick up a grim and have to root roit it out of the agro pic for later. Then when i reach my spot ill summon my ready to farm pet. Bear in mind ya can just "gaurd" ur pet at a safe place and zone and he will be there at ur new zone, but this is just but one way to use the summon...Also going thru mazes where he gets lost in walls or hedges or underwater where ya get thru to where ya need to be, and ur pets at the ent??? ready to be ur tool and yet not able to get to??? Im sure theres many ways to use him better, im still figuring out more fun ways to use him since the pathing issues got cleared up...
Also I havent a clue as to why they give us the summon before?? maybe just to make us try to figure out some reason..adds flavor, any new ideas to an old subject??
Any other ideas are greatfully encourged?? Have a Great Norrathian Day Well Met...8:)

Pet Pulling

I am thinking of adventuring into Pet Pulling, can you go 3rd person rotate your view into a room, target a mob, send in pet, pet aggros, summon companion, and single pull?

Will you get multiples and/or does the pet lose aggro when summoned?

I'll experiment myself and let you know what I find out.
RE: Pet Pulling

Pet cannot be summoned if it is engaged in combat.
Pets can get multiples when using them to pull.

Not just for pathing issues
# Mar 11 2004 at 6:49 PM Rating: Good
i have only used this spell ONCE for a bad pathing issue. But i use it all the time when i forget to /follow my guarding pet and leave it somewhere. And the summon pet belt is definately worth it for you int caster pet classes.

This Spell

This is a great spell for combatting some of the annoying pathing issues with pets. Summon a pet a the IZ and tell him to guard. Run to your camp, but if you get agro along the way, summon him by your side. Kill the beast, tell him to guard again and continue on to your camp. Once there, summon him again.

Also, if you don't have a pet focus item so that your pet is slower than you are with R3 or higher, you could use it to hunt a large zone that you would normally leave him behind in while you run around looking for prey.

I will say this though, it is not worth taking up a spell slot to have while you are hunting though. I suggest you get the silverflank (think that is the name) belt that has this for a right click effect. The belt has nice stats and has this effect on it so you don't use a spell slot and yet can still have the benefit of this. It is a must have belt in my opinion for pet class.

All you Druids complain about having this spell before your pet. What about us SK's who have a pet for 43 levels before we can use the spell? That seems a bit more wrong to me

I know quite some druids who don't have it at 60, and with the recent alterations of pets it's even less of an issue, since they are non kos. So the spell has been made more or less obsolete unless you are going to a multilvl place, but with pet being only lvl 35 it's no issue for a druid to have it up.

Summon Pet
# Nov 15 2003 at 10:21 PM Rating: Good
This spell works great for BST. You can buff your warder, have him guard. Run to your destination, summons him to your side, still fully buffed! Also with pathing issues, this spell comes in handy. Some dungons the pets get lost, or even stuck in walls. Instead of having to get a new pet and rebuff him, use this spell...Bingo...Pet is at your side still buffed and ready to kill!
BST also can get gloves with this clickable, no mana wasted either.
There is my 2 CP's, hope it helps someone!

Idea
# Jul 22 2003 at 9:57 PM Rating: Decent
I have an idea about why there is an odd order in when Shamen and Druids get their pet support spells. The reason Shamen get Tiny Companion and Druids get this spell both before they even get their pet spells is probably because fizzles are based on the level of the spell compared to what level the caster is (unless I am incorrect). So that would make sense that their spells would then fizzle a LOT less when they get their first pet spell. Hmm...
Why not free?

This spell should be free as it is used to correct pathing problems. And it should ve available to all levels with a pet.

I think the idea here is if you drop down off a bridge onto a lower level, you can summon the pet to your side.
Doesn't work on charmed pets

Correct, this spell does not work on charmed pets and YES that is really lame. /feedback - use it often, use it from multiple accounts :)
Only for TeddyBear
# Mar 18 2003 at 9:07 PM Rating: Good
This only works on the L55 pet not charmed animals, Thus I have not bothered to get it.
Anyone tell me if that has either changed or is based on wrong information?
What use a druid has for this
# Feb 28 2003 at 12:27 PM Rating: Default
Keep in mind that druids do get charm animal spells. I would imagine that this spell worked on them so long as they are Charmed.

There is a method to every madness.
