QUICKER KILLS USING CLICKY NUKES ARE FAR MORE EFFICIENT NOW DUE TO RESTING MED SO ANYTHING THAT HAS A CASTING TIME REALLY SUCKS CEPT MAYBE LURES WHICH ARE ONLY USEFUL WHILE RAIDING IN THE 3 SECS IT TAKE TO CAST THIS SPELL AND REFRESH I COULD USE 2 CLICKYS AND BE MEDDING THAT MUCH QUICKER
this spell is much more mana efficent than the instant nuke lines. Sure you can just burn through mana ASAP using the instant cast nukes, but there are certain times when you don't want to do that.
first off the instant nukes are pretty large on aggro where as this spell is not. secondly, the mana cost is so low, it's useful for when you are nearly OOM in group/raid situations, and i'm pretty sure you can use it to proc gift of mana/radiant mana then use that freebie on a spell that Is high mana cost unlike this one..

looks like a good chaos flame upgrade. wish it was a little less mana or cast time though still. we need to up our dps more for long term fights

Who cares? This spell sucks. And its part of the new expansion.
Perhaps if you looked at the numbers and saw the ratio of spells rather than just the spells that have the highest one shot damage, you could understand why spells like this are very nice. Any wizard that classifies a spell such as this into the "suck" catagory, is the wizard that is either always OOM, or is always looking for a rez.

have you looked at the numbers to this spell? at the lowest damage, 1158, with a cost of 304 mana that's an effeciancy of 3.81. that's not bad.
Supposing its completely random then the mean damage comes out to 1737.5 still at 304 mana for an effeciancy ratio of 5.72 now that is a nice ration.
Now at full damage thats 2317 for the low price of 304 mana (still) resulting in a damage to mana ratio of 7.62! that's freaking awesome really. and that's unfocued and not even looking at the 3.0 sec cast time~! not only that but you can get pyromancy and give this spell a chance to proc a fire dot! how can you go wrong with that?
