unfortunatly, sony has made this spell the way they intended it to be with the release of the last expansion. it can now only be placed on wizard type pets, i.e., fire pets. however, as vileblade said earlier, you park your pet outside of melee range with the root factor of this, it starts nuking mob, and it's regenning 50 extra mana a tick, now if our wizzys would actually nuke like lvl 70 wizzies, we'd be ok.

um dude, do you play a mage?? Our DPS as a class is complete crap. We do have the best pets out there, but that' isn't saying much, my 4 year old son hits harder than they do, and we are by NO MEANS WHATSOEVER the best solo class in the game. Necros can solo con red mobs all the way to 75, druids can do the same thing, hell even clerics can solo effectively now with vow of valor...we have our pet, and RpS, which will quickly run even a beefy mage (12k mana) OOM, meaning our solo is fight, wait for ooc regen, ooc regen for 2 minutes, fight, gate cause we got an add, etc. versus other solo'ers fight, fight, fight, dual kite cause you got an add, fight, med, fight, etc. My advice, play the monk, you're deluded about the magician, conversely, go on a demi raid, and parse yourself vs. everyone else.

A few things I wanted to point out in response to sumlaan, and then something back on topic.

1) My pet tanks Crystallos now. I'd like to see a necro or a monk do that. I realize that's not "soloing," but it's still impressive.
2) You can't kite something that summons you. Mage pets can stand in and stand up to it. Yes, necros can kill things that we can't. We can kill things necros can't.
3) Our RS pet is not meant to be an all-the-time spell. Its DPS is insane, and if you can convince someone to be quick with a single-target haste, it's absolutely mind boggling. The Gift of Mana line of AAs makes this spell very useful.
4) On most of the raids I've been on, I'm in the top three on the parst list half the time, and the top ten 90% of the time. I've never seen a necro make the list, and I've only seen a wizard beat me once. Our DPS isn't bad at all.

Now, as for the "on topic" part... Has anyone else noticed that you can't cast this spell on your higher lefel Fire pets? The 73 and 78 Fire pet self buff seems to block it. It's very limited use for me, so I haven't really looked into it, but tried it recently on Ture, and it wouldn't take hold.

I just noticed i could not cast this on my level 78 fire pet, but can on my level 73. When i try to cast on 78 fire pet i get "Your target does not meet the spell requirements" (not verbatim). Even if i take off the pet's self buff, it still wont let me cast this on them. By design or spell bug?
Also, just my 2cp, im very disappointed in the fire pet's melee damage and spell damage. Yes, it is slightly more than the 73 pet, but not exactly what i thought it would be. 73 fire pet casts for 2-2.1k DD, and melee's for under 110 (max). The 78 fire pet casts for 2.3k, and melee's for up to 130......
Since the 78 pet cannot use this spell (Blazing Stance), my lvl 73 fire pet casts faster, thus out DPS'ing my 78 fire pet. It' makes no sense to me...
Someone please tell me if i'm mistaken, or doing something wrong. (BTW - I'm only using Elegant Summoner's Earring for my pet focus)

If only our Earth pets would tank like Warriors their level. If only our Water pets had the DPS of Rogues their level. If only our Air pets...

You do realize that if the Fire pets nuked like their equivalent level Wizards, Mages would be the most broken class ever, right? We're already great DPS, with a multitude of useful spells, we already have the best pets out there hands down, and we're already (arguably) the best solo class in the game.

If we had a level 70 PC Wizard as a "pet" do you have any idea how nasty that would get? Mobs completely ignore pet agro if there's a PC in range. Think of a level 70 Wizard chaining its most powerful nukes. Think about how much DPS that would be (until it ran out of mana), and how paste-like they would be for getting the agro that generated.

If our fire pets nuked like Wizards their level, the only reason to have a Wizard in a group or raid would be to port.

*flame on* wow....both of you are completely useless. this has nothing to do with spell damage dolt. this transfer's 50% of the damage your pet takes from a melee hit to his mana. so.....if your pet took a hit for 1000, 500 would go to HP, 500 would go to mana. the damage shield portion is obvious, it stacks with other DS btw, and the mana increase is to keep this spell from dropping off too quickly....any questions? next time, get some levels before you try to talk about a spell that's several levels higher than you are.

*flame off*

For the few mobs that are Very Melee resistant, this spell is very nice.
Definitly Fire pet only. Has a longish recast time ~ 45 sec?
park your pet out of the mobs melee range, cast this, then pet attack, nice little nuke machine.
