I want to also add that worn DS does not wake up the mob when this spell procs. Only DS from buffs will wake it up.

I've had enough experience with this spell to know just what it can, and cannot be like. It's a very excellent Defensive proc to have, its procs quite often. HOWEVER, there seems to be a slight bug (or that is how it is intended) which damage shields waking the mob after this has proc'd. I have found that if I have any form of a DS on me, and this procs, the DS immediately wakes the mob. So my solution, no DS, but I would hope this is not how Sony intends this spell to be used. Makes no sense that AFTER it procs, a ds wakes the mob, but that is indeed what happens.

well... it does make sense, although finding out the hard way isn't fun. think about mesmerization (sleep spell, basically) in general. any damage will "break mes," which is essentially a sleeping mob waking up because it received a fresh wound.

when the mob attacks you, you have a chance to proc sleep on it. IF the mob misses and you proc on it, you're fine. but if it HITS you and you proc on it on that swing, it gets put to sleep and takes damage at the same time. so why wouldn't it wake up? since when has damage of any kind not broken mes?

my solution? any time i want to use ward of bewilderment, i ditch the damage shield. i have most blocked, since an enchanter with a damage shield poses little threat to norrath, and breaking your own mes with your damage shield 3-4 times in a row (i've had it happen, not fun) will make your tank work overtime to pull aggro back.

great spell, though. i have it loaded almost all of the time.

Yes the solution to this: block every last darn spell that contains any amount of damage shield in it (even bard songs have them like Psalm of Veeshan).

However, the whole damage shield breaking mez thing isn't really sensible. The Ward spell is a defensive proc spell, meaning the proc happens in RESPONSE to something... it occurs AFTER the cause event has happened. Cause: You are DEFENSIVELY challenged. Effect: Your defensive challenge registers with this spells functions and the computer generated equation to determine probability will result in a proc, or will result in no proc. The damage shield your character may be buffed with at that time occurs with the Cause event, it occurs when your defense was challenged. Whether or not you were actually hit, or whether the mob missed you, or whether you dodged, or whether you parried (enchanters cannot parry though lol) the damage shield will still bounce its damage back but this should be occuring with the CAUSE... then the Effect event follows. Anyways, that is the ideal and sensible way that this should and hopefully WILL work... but until then we just have to sacrifice (blocking Psalm of Veeshan just for its small ds and losing a serious boost to your resists) some minor benefits in order to make this extremely utilizable benefit a success.

When you consider all you have to go through to get that spell, Ward of Bedazzlement, that's rather offensive. It makes no more sense to do the skins if the spell is going to be removed 5 levels later.

Why would you make this argument and think for one moment it would be valid? Ward of Bedazzlement is a spell that you would never use once an upgraded version was available. And it just so happens that one is, THIS ONE! Matters not that it overwrites it, you'd never use the previous even if it did not. Now if Voice of Intuition overwrote, say, KEI then maybe that would be cause for concern. This.... is not.

Well, you're obviously such an uber Enchanter that you got your focus effects upgraded to 75 level spells the very nanosecond they became available. I don't always fight at my own level, often I farm things for myself in lower level zones, such as Bastion of Thunder. But since us Chanters who are so far below your uberness, I would prefer that the spell last as long as possible, so that I don't have to keep casting it every 15 minutes. If I can use a buff that will last longer, even by a few minutes, I'm going to use it.
