Can you actually buy this spell or do you have to quest for it ?

The Divine Might spell is not No Drop, so you can buy it from another player, but it's not a spell that's normally obtainable other than by quest. I think I've seen it for sale once at the Bazaar on my server.

You'll probably need to quest it, or be prepared to have around 5k handy when (and if) it's offered for sale.

Inst of Nife better?
# Nov 25 2002 at 2:14 PM Rating: Decent
Seems for the time, money, and effort needed for this, it just isn't worth it. The Instrument of Nife proc is 243pts for me @ 47. I stack that with my good ol' Ghoulbane when fighting undead (162pt proc).

I guess if you're hardcore in to doing all the Pally quests, then yay for you. If not, just drop some plat on Instrument of Nife.
Where to find the Froglok Yun Shaman

I am 39 shaman and just got all 4 pieces. The Black Shaman Powder off the Froglok Yun Shaman was the hardest to get. I belive I got the answer not and I hope this helps everyone. In Trakanon's Teeth at about -600, +200 you can find the Yun Shaman.

What you do is hire a tracker if you do not play one, and track around the Arched Wall that runs between Lake and Ancient City where Sebilis is.

As I traked around the area I found a Froglok Vin Knight I think it was called. Well anyway I truly think these are Places Holders because I kill the Vin Knight and about 30 seconds later, Froglok Yun Shaman poped on my track.

Also once you kill the PH's, then you have to fight everything in the area to keep Yun Shaman alive because everying from Tigers to Keeper's aggro on the Yun Shaman

I hope this helps

Who drops this spell? Is it random mobs in Velks?
Only one part is NO DROP
# Nov 04 2002 at 7:17 PM Rating: Excellent
Only the Greyish Bone Chips from the Skeletal Warlord in Karnor's Castle are NO DROP. The rest, Strange Ocre Clay from Army Behemoths in City of Mist, (Black) Yun Shaman Powder off Yun Shaman in Trakanon's Teeth, and I believe the Crushed Dread Diamonds (ground spawn in Timorous Deep) are droppable.

My question is, since I was lvl 53 by t he time I finished the quest, and you get Cannibalize III at lvl 54, how much can I sell this spell for?

Where to find spell...
# Oct 24 2002 at 2:58 AM Rating: Decent
I got this spell tonight after doing a quest wiht a Erudite named 'Burninghands'. He is located in FV outpost. Simply hail him abd he will tell you 4 spells he needs. He needs Atol's, Inferno of Al'Kabor, Tears od Druzzil and Pillar of Frost. I purchased the above scrolls in the bazaar for under or around 100 plat.

Once you have go back and turn into him. I did one at a time, Inferno got me Thunderbold, and the other three (Im not sure on the order) got me Abscond, Tishans Discord, and Tears of Solusek.

Tishans is Level 51; Abscond, level 52; Thunderbold, level 54; and Tears of Solusek, level 55;

Jsut thought Id post, as I figured a nice set of spells for around 100 plat.

Phinigel
# Aug 18 2002 at 2:05 AM Rating: Excellent
I just got the dusty fingerbone from Phinigel's room in Kedge Keep. I was on a raid with 18 people. All I can say is you have to be on a raid to do this. Theres no other way. All in that room see invis. Read about the spawn and you will see why you need the raid party. As for the cost of the gems I just had a chanter friend buy them for me.

As a paladin I too believe in doing all the pally quests I can. And this spell is useful. What, another 130 or more points of damge in a fight isnt good enough? Crazy. I have a Club of the Ice Ocean (149 cold proc). Stacked with that, well hey, thats alot of procs.

I play on a pvp server so my views are totally different from the blue servers. I can tell you procs freak your opponents out, and if you are double procing thats a good thing. I dont worry so much how im going to survive against mobs. I worry about fighting uber darkies hell bent on wasting my Honorable ***** I will have the spell next week and let you all know how it does in pvp.
RE: Phinigel
# Aug 18 2002 at 4:44 PM Rating: Excellent
Not so, I quested this spell for my 50 paladin with my then 38th bard(Now 54), give the bard an eb item, play invis song and when phinny is NOT up, swim in, grab the piece and get out, makes the mistmoore piece and the steamfont one cake as well, just do the quest with a bard alt and give the final spell to your pally and voila :)
BTW the creatures in phinnys room DO NOT see invis when phinny is not up, as soon as he pops he slaps see invis on any pat or stationary mob in range, so only do this several hours after phinny is dead up until he pops....

I was unable to gain access with Gr. Camo or Mage invis. We decided to wait for phinny to spawn and make a raid of it :) With the assistance of the
alliance (Sacred Band) We beat the entire fishbowl
to a sushi pulp :) I then just swam down and
grabbed my item.

I don't know for sure because I don't have this spell yet myself, but the name implies that it keeps updating you the position of the corpse in relation to where you are, a lot like the Tracking ability of Rangers and whoever else gets it. Maybe it even gives you the /loc, I don't know. The other one is only called Locate Corpse and only points you towards it once.
Stacking issues?

I've seen several references implying that there are stacking issues with the Divine Might spell, and that it does not stack with Instrument of Nife. Can someone who has experience with these spells please confirm one way or the other?

Thanks,

Kamgar

My Pally obtained this spell today, so now I can answer my own question. Divine Might and Instrument of Nife do not stack together.

If you cast Instrument of Nife and then cast Divine Might, you will get the message "Your spell did not take hold." You must first cancel Instrument of Nife before you cast Divine Might.

If you first cast Divine Might, and then cast Instrument of Nife, the latter will overwrite the former. The Divine Might is automatically canceled and the Insturment of Nife takes precedence.

Both Divine Might and Instrument of Nife stack with Valor of Marr. Since Instrument of Nife procs vs. undead for more damage than the proc for Divine Might, you should use Instrument of Nife vs. undead and Divine Might vs. normal mobs.

Good question. I will get enough pp to buy my gems and finish this quest and then will post whether this stacks with Nife spells.

more details; seems like not-so-good spell
# Jun 11 2002 at 2:31 PM Rating: Decent
maximum duration: 16 minutes and 30 seconds.

This spell adds a random proc to all your attacks (any weapon, bash, hands), and stacks with any other proc that the weapon has. The proc is magic based and delivers 65 hitpoints of damage. This spell does not stack with the Rodcet Nife spell. You can expect the proc to go off "2 or 3 times per fight".

eq.castersrealm.com has more complete and better written information on this spell.

Click on the "Scroll Info" link above to find out about the quest.

I have not personally solved the quest nor do I have the spell; I'm just collating research done by others since the description of the spell in this database is vague and incomplete.

Based with what I've read, I am not very impressed with this spell. If the costs of the components for the quest are 1000pp to 2000pp and 10-20 hours of time and since the amount of damage is relatively small and if it procs somewhat rarely (is the proc rate solely based on dexterity?), this isn't a very good return on investment. Maybe when I'm older and richer and I don't have anything better to spend that kind of money on, I'll do the quest.

Spells that add procs to your attacks are completely random...by that, I mean there is no way to increase/decrease your chances of having it proc (except for possibly your level when you cast it). Dex only helps item procs.

Hours upon hours of parsing, by others - not I, I have no patience for logging/parsing - shows that nothing helped increase the # of procs.

Again, this is the passing of info from sources that I deem extremely intelligent and accurate.

As for the cost, pp and time, to get this spell. It's a quest. Paladins are THE questing class. All of our (large) quests are designed to increase one's honor. These quests should be attempted, if at all possible, because you are a Paladin.

I have no use for the Silent Watch Shield, and would do the quest if I had aligned myself with the Silent Watch (faction wise and RP-wise), but I do not want to be "part" of the Silent Watch.

I will do a good amount of my Ro armor, not to wear, but to at least say I did it. I may not actually MAKE the armor, but I will turn in the items needed to show my loyalty to the certain factions (the ones I wish to, anyway).

I have almost every Paladin-only usuable weapon that is obtainable solo...I don't think I've ever used any of them, besides the Ghoulbane. Deepwater Harpoon, never. Falchion of the Koada'Vie, never. Those are just examples.

It's all part of RPing your Paladin. And, don't forget, the game is called Everquest for a reason, and in my opinion, Paladins "personify" (if you will) that reason.

Stacking?
# Apr 29 2002 at 12:41 PM Rating: Decent
OK, I know I can cast this on my pet with any other buffs on it, but my question is does the haste stack with alacrity? In other words, does 20% haste on this + 40% alacrity = 60% haste on the pet? Yes, I know both can be on at the same time, but that doesn't really mean it's doing anything does it?
RE: Stacking?
# Jul 16 2002 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
Alacrity is the upgrade to quickening (haste). They shouldn't stack...
