The pure casters can research and write their own spell scrolls to add to their spell books. A number of different spells can only be gotten through research.
For each pertinent class, what it the best way to use and develop this skill? What researched spells should you be concentrating on learning? How can you develop the skill high enough to learn the right spells? Where can you find the spell materials?
Post the best strategies for researching spells, and read, rate and comment on those posted by others.
built into the game that some spells research ony which is fun and also can be fraustrating when words hardly ever drop that you need to do the research. then you finally get the need words and then you fizzle.
I badly need a triv list (with all info) for necro spells. sooo tirred of searching for a good necro site, and spending hours here looking for what words for what spell at which triv.. Can anyone help?
there is a research list for necromancer on eqtraders, which i printed off, and use religiously in order to find which words i need. I also used spreadsheet and put the words in order of the maximum skillup they are good for. Which lets me know which spells i'm working on for practice. it is a long boring thing trying to look for a components list which already lists this for me. and almost as much fun typing it myself...BUT, necessity is the mother of desperation. :D
I'm a 24th Mage trying to get my everfont and Pet spells. The Elemental grimorie gives me no advise as to what componets I need. Anyone know how/where I can find the componets needed for 24th level pets or what skill level is required?

Posted:Sep 03 2003 at 8:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am looking for a place where it is not to boring to level my 32 ranger, I am currently in DSP, with cleric friend, I want to know where I can go with good XP< LOOT< and not be boring, from levels 32 through 40.Went to Ranger Glade for information on zones and places< but no luck.
ive never asked this before so i dont know what kind of response im going to get, but as a 53 wizzy and a 31 necro i do a bit of researching, could i have my wizzy research necro spells with the right book, words, and stuff? or is it restricted to a certain class? it would be great if i could just use shared bank to do things for my research but i havent had time to test it, anyone know? thanks
I'm pretty sure that the answer is no. Here is a summary of what I have learned from browsing other sites:
There are also new LoY spelly recipes for 50+ INT caster spells, BUT they like the original recipes, can only be made by the class that uses them... so you cannot use wizzy to make necro spells. Only necros can research necro spells.
Only the new spell recipes that were made available with the LoY release for PRIEST Classes are able to made using research by any int caster class.
at lvl 30 i decided to hunt the dwarves on sister isle after killing about 10 cycles of them i got Detachment, allure and another word not related to the haunting corpse spell....they are on a 5 minute spawn and there are 3 of them on the island. only faction lowered is KaladimCitizen and its a very slight reduction they are blue at 30 and are easily fear kited you could prolly do them at around 25 - these are usually really hard words to get thats why i posted =) Good luck and happy hunting
I cant get my skill points into the skill. The GM keeeps saying "You have already reached the limits of this skill." Can someone help me? If that problem isnt figured out can you tell me some low level research quests?
Level 32 Enchanter working on Research. I cannot find any good information, so I am hoping someone can help. Research seems to have a level cap and I am guessing it goes up 5 points per level gain. I think mine is currently 90. I have bags of pages in the bank, but I do not want to do the combines if I can't get skill points.
What is the level cap for Research? If it is 5 points per level, does the cap relax at level 40 or 50, of is it simply 5 points per level gain?
The good thing in Research is that it has no 20 skillpoints cap, so you can put as many skillpoints into the skill as you like. That saved me a lot of headaches once I discovered it. I pooled every skillpoint, that i did not use to activate another skill, into research, and now have 200 in the skill, and an Automated Quill.
Druid spells (and others) can now be researched by pure casters with LoY expansion, but how do you figure out where to find the components? Anyone seen Yaeth's compendium pages or rune of synergy?
Is there a list of where Mage Components can be found off of mobs and vendors and such (i.e.word, pearl shard, gloves of rallos zek, ic eof velious, eyes of serilis, etc.)
Some 29 Enchanter spells from lvl 51 to 60 are now Researchable with the LoY expansion. It looks like all the pure caster classes have new research opportunities for existing spells. I've put up all a little bit about the new Enchanter research at
i am a 19th lvl wizard i have obtained a wizards cannon and the runes listed. How do i make the runes into the completed spells? I am a member of the Knights of the Phoenix Sun on Luclin sever. Any Help will be greatly appreciated.
I had them drop off of a kodiak in West commons and they are frequently sold to the merchant near the druid rings. Also lots of words can be found in the shaman guild of east cabilis.

here is the site you should go to www.magecompendium.com and it will more than likely be a rare drop. look under research there should be a link to componets there is where you will find what is all needed and where they are. kay adios
Can anyone please tell me if the completed runes, that you recieve on succesfully combining Azia and Bezia runes(im doing training rune at the moment)are used for anything?
first thing stop practice reseach and use your skill points. yes they are give them to a wizzy they use those ruins, or for minimum amout of money sell them.
I am currently a lvl 20 Enchanter and after finding a number of left and right sides of pages I decided to start skilling up on research.
I know all about the runes and how to get the book to make them (GLS, gypsy camp, etc.) and all that. But I cant seem to find any suggestions on how high I should lvl up on research before I start trying to create my spell scrolls. I'm assuming that the lvl 20 spells will be harder to make than the lvl 16 ones but I cant seem to find any trivial info on either.
The spells Iwill be working on are mesmirazion (of course) lvl 16, berserker strength lvl 20, color shift lvl 20, and endure magic lvl 20 in case this helps.
I have both halves of the pages for most of these already and have only placed 1 point into spell research so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a level 18 Dark Elf Necromancer and I put a point into research at level 16, boosting my skill to 16. I then set about doing the Concordance Quest and making the training runes, only to find that my skill didn't go up. Puzzled, I went to the trainer and tried to put points in but was told that I'd maxed out the skill for the moment. I went away then and came back at level 18, hoping that my higher level would mean I could raise the skill one way or another, but both methods still failed. When am I allowed to increase this skill again? Level 20?
The formula for calculating your research skill is as follows: Your level minus 15 multiplied by 5. In other words at level 18 it would be 18 - 15=3, 3 * 5= 15. But when you first purchase a point in a skill that requires a certain level to be obtained, your skill automatically becomes whatever level that was required to purchase it. Ex: Spell Research requires level 16 to buy it, but at level 16 your skill cap is 5, so after you get your first point in it you cannot increase it until level 19 when you can increase it to 20. 19-15=4, 4*5=20. I hope this clears up all of the confusion :)
