A specialty skill possessed by gnomes, tinkering allows the gnome to create specialty gadgets.

i have noticed that most tinkering items are only for gnome wariors and clerics this may account for there low starting stats for there race class combo
Its there a List?

I am a lvl 6 gnome rogue... and I'm new to the game. I would like to start to Tinker. Is there a list of items one can make and a list of stuff meeded to make them anywhere? Thanks in advance. Sheggo - Vallon Zek

I found a short list on Caster's Realm under the skills sections. First you need to buy a tool box to combine objects. You can't advance in tinkering until Level 16... But unless there is a specific item you need or want, I would suggest choosing a different tradeskill. Tinkering is by far the MOST expensive skill in the game.

Ingredient Locations?

I got skill up to 102 this afternoon, but now I'm stuck. Where can I find Steel Lined Gloves, Fine Coral Mesh, or Lime Coated Meshing for various other tinkering items? I am trying to get skill high enough to make Rebreathers, but I'm having trouble finding the components. I've tried searching the tinkering site, this site and EQTraders site. No luck anywhere on component locations.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

These sites are good enough to help get you to master skills, so i highly recommend them in addition to allakhazam's magical realm =o)
Although I recomend Raul's site over EQ traders, you should check out both.

What are the benifiets?
# Aug 17 2001 at 2:24 PM Rating: Default
I am lvl 17 atm. I have been reading into tinkering and am wondering what I would get outa this if I were to spend the time/money on it. Can any money be made with this skill? I've heard that there is no money in it....why is that? If you can't make any money out of this, that means that the things you make are either pointless or no drop. Last question, are there any tinkering guides out there that would make this easier? Thnx fer yer time.

Money can be made out of tinkering. But, like most "big money" making tradeskills, it will cost you to get your skill to a point where you will start to earn.

For tinkering, the starting point is 175, when Rebreathers become trivial. Warriors need 2 rebreathers as a part of their epic quest and will pay substantially for them. A rebreather will cost roughly 950pp to make - and I have heard of them being sold for up to 2.5k.

Please note, you can make money tinkering things before this level *but* by far the most needed/popular/best money-making item until this skill level is the rebreather.

Some geerlok devices also sell for a bit of cash - but they trivial at 215.

The Velious recipes (gnomish armours) trivial at above 215 and could be good money makers if you can find the gnomes who need and are willing to pay for it.
Human tinkers

My brother is a level 50 human warrior, and he tinkers. He has made fireworks. I thought you had to be a gnome, and told him that, but he showed me and made some and I saw him do it.

You can't put points into Tinkering. Gnomes already start at a level of 50. You can raise your Tinkering skill at level 16.
A gemcutter use?
# Aug 02 2001 at 2:10 PM Rating: Default
Maybe there's a use for the gemcutter...

Has anyone tried sticking a gemcutter and JUST a gem in a jewelery kit or toolbox? Because you can sometimes loot gem shards, such as pearl shards, jade shards, etc. Maybe the gemcutter makes shards out of full gems. This is just a theory... can someone try it?

An anonymous source close to Verant recently emailed me with this tidbit of information!

i have it on good aurothority The Gem cutter is used for the production of 2 items which where originally in the BETAgame, but due to the inbalancing caused by these items they where dropped from the game, However the mighty wise gods at verant decided to keep the gem chopper in for use in a later quest/tinkerable item....
The time is upon us soon

fireworks use
# Jul 11 2001 at 11:47 PM Rating: Default
How the heck do you use the fireworks. They don't equip in an melee or range slot and right clicking on them does nothing. I have tried targeting myself, a mob and the sky, but can't figure out how the activate them. Do I have to create a lighter for the things?
