Hello ever-body,
I'm back!! Ok nobody knows me and nobody missed me but I missed everyone.
It's been a few years since I played. I had to stop when my computer wouldn't accept Velous. Then life kicked in.
Now a new computer and a new life. And my characters are still around. So I have to ask, what makes my old stomping ground a preferred serve? Not that I mind. I just want to know if there are any special rules I need to learn along with all the changes in the last half decade. (geez EQ has been busy adding stuff)
Thanks.

Sorry for the lenghty post in advance, but sadly we just don't know what else to besides to try and make this public.

I am sure that many who are in Time enabled guilds are aware of the recent rash of bugs that have crept up since the GoD beta went live. Now, if there is a correlation or not, who knows, as the dev team at this point isn't giving any information besides that they are working it.

Over 3 weeks ago, our guild received a bugged Time instance, meaning that after clearing phase 1 and expecting every subsequent phase to be available, we were greeted with an empty zone and got ported out 5 minutes later.

We petitioned but received no help at all that night, and decided to petition the next day and let our Instance ID expire as has been suggested on numerous websites now. However, a guide told us on our following rotation day that PoTime was reset and that we should be good to go. This was 3 days after our initial problem.
However, the same problem occured after clearing phase 1, an completely empty PoTime.

We escalated this problem to an GM-admin and he tried to get some information from the devs, but came back with only that we should wait 5 days to let our instance ID expire.

Now, here is where it gets interesting. We have 3 guilds on our server on a rotation for PoTime, and as of now only our guild has been affected. We decided to wait a week before trying again. The night before the 7th day, the first guild that made it into PoTime on the server was struck by the same problem. Now, it seems that some of their members know some Devs and were told a patch was coming down that night and they should be able to raid the following day.. the day our ID should have been gone and our planned day. Now, due to an agreement with the other guilds that I wont elaborate on, that Sunday was given to the other guild, their bug was gone, and they cleared the zone and went home happy. So we were left with going on our next rotation day the following wednesday. But guess what, even with every member being out of the zone for a minimum of 9 days now, we were still bugged. A dev checked some members and it showed them with Instance ID's of the other guilds even though they hadn't zoned in at all for over a week.

So, now we've been trying to get some information why a) the other guild got a fix that worked and we wont, b) why the devs aren't even letting us know what is going on or what to expect and c) wont even give us the common curtesy of getting back to us on this issue without us mass petitioning.

This is a log, edited to remove anything but the conversation between the gm and our GL.

Quote:
Keep in mind, this is after the escalation to the GM, which was a few hours of Guide talks, that i will post later/tomorrow:

[Fri Jan 23 22:59:52 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'Greetings, I am GM Vaylin. I understand you are having trouble with the plane of time and instance issues. Unfortunately we are aware of this issue as you are also not the only guild having this problem. We can not help you with this issue as there is no ability GMs have to fix this. I ask that all those effected leave the zone for 5 days and do not come back as doing so will further this problem for you. I also ask that you /bug this matter with full details.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:00:15 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'There is nothing we can do for you on this. I do apologize to you.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:00:48 2004] You told Vaylin, 'Thank you for responding, but can I ask how 'staying out of the zone for 5 days', when we have done that for 3 weeks going on 4 now, and in fact, stayed out for 9 days last week is going to be different this time ?'

[Fri Jan 23 23:01:43 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'It may not do anything however if it doesnt work then sadly nothings changed however if it does work then at least you can use the zone.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:01:49 2004] Greang tells you, 'You are the leader of the guild correct?'

[Fri Jan 23 23:01:50 2004] You told Vaylin, 'Can i also ask why the zone has been reset for other guilds on this and other servers who were not blocked from the zone for 22 days as we have been ?'

[Fri Jan 23 23:02:17 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'No ones reset that zone. I'm sorry who ever gave you that information is misinformed.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:03:00 2004] You told Vaylin, 'and because I dont want to push that issue.. its not about 'fairness'... its about not cancelling our accounts, can I ask that I have the email or name of someone who is your supervisor so I can explain the dire nature of the situation and possibly give you more power to correct it ?'

[Fri Jan 23 23:03:30 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'The only resets that have been done on that zone have been due to them taking it down to attempt to fix this issue. We do not offer any customer service except the basic assistance in plane of time as developement has has asked us not to.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:03:32 2004] You told Vaylin, 'please Vaylin... we have been locked out of Time for 22 days.. do you think we don't know when an instance is reset by this point on our server, or that we are unaware of Drinal server time reset last night ?'
[Fri Jan 23 23:03:55 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'I'm sorry but theres nothing we can do to help you with it'

[Fri Jan 23 23:04:47 2004] You told Vaylin, 'Ok, I can accept that answer.... I am sorry for implying anything shady.. but I would like to have a contact of your superior so that I can enforce how big an issue this is for our guild. We are on the virge of loising 80+ accounts and a guild i have been in since day 1 of EQ'

[Fri Jan 23 23:05:11 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'You can email eqcs@soe.sony.com however please be aware they will not reset the zone for you.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:05:37 2004] You told Vaylin, 'I dont even want a reset anymore, I want someone to know why a guild and 80+ accounts cancel their subscriptions'

[Fri Jan 23 23:06:22 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'Then contacting my supervisor or any GM supervisor is not the correct course of action. As this is a developement side bug you need to voice your concerns about this zone not working to development.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:06:23 2004] You told Vaylin, 'i want a guarantee that something is done on Sunday after 4 weeks of being told to 'wait 5 days'.. I dont think that is unreasonable, and I dont think it is impossible or unprecedented that the 'bug fixes' be attempted for the guild who has endured it the longest'

[Fri Jan 23 23:08:46 2004] You told Vaylin, 'I just don't know what to do anymore... I want answers more then anything, I dont want special treatment, I've never asked for it before. We've been so good with this.. we've stayed out of the zone.. we've allowed the server time rotation to continue even though we have been blocked. It is monumentally important and I guess we need more communication on the issue then 'go ahead and try in 5 days and be disappointed again'.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:09:39 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'I'm sorry you dont like the answer I've given however its the only answer we can give you. As I said you want the correct people to know how you feel about the problem in time let developement know. You can reach them by going to everquestlive.com and posting on the fourms there, doing /feedback in game, or emailing eqfeedback@soe.sony.com. All I can do is tell you I understand your situation your not the only one going through it. We sadly can not help you.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:10:42 2004] You told Vaylin, 'And, sadly, as much as I'd like to really be irate with you, I believe you... However, I am deeply saddened at what is about to happen with my guild, and I just can't express the anger of this guild disbanding and cancelling in words, really.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:11:22 2004] You told Vaylin, 'I fear what will happen, and I fear the crap you may have to put up with with 80+ people at their wit's end, because it is likely to come through the petition queue and be a pain that maybe you don't deserve.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:12:54 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'I totaly understand you and know how annoying this is. I've spoken to many people about this I do know their working on the matter and this week alone have attempted to fix the matter at least three different nights. Let developement know thats the best I can say.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:13:51 2004] You told Vaylin, 'I would love it if a simple status could be relayed to me or one of my officers, either via email or via game as they work.. it would help me to keep my people in order and to help me in keeping them from cancelling.. is that even a possibility ?'

[Fri Jan 23 23:14:33 2004] You told Vaylin, 'Something I could use to keep them from going crazy, official word, something.. if i say 'wait 5 days and we will retry' one more time, they are going to lynch me'

[Fri Jan 23 23:14:59 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'I'm sorry that wont be able to happen. I can tell you game masters are very busy as most of us are currently covering two to three servers.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:16:19 2004] You told Vaylin, 'You have to forgive me then if I say that is completely and totally unacceptable that noone can even communicate to a guild who has been bugged and blocked from enjoying a game they pay for for almost an entire billing cycle of 1 month.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:17:25 2004] You told Vaylin, 'I can understand if you tell me you can't reset the zone.. but I absolutely demand communication on what is being done... absolutely demand it.. and whether or not that matters to you, I absolutely know something as simple as a status report is not unreasonable and something that, frankly, I cannot accept.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:17:45 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'I understand your feeling here best I can say is check the offical website.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:18:06 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'there will also more than likely be a patch message as well when they fix the problem.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:20:33 2004] You told Vaylin, 'Nothing I say at this point really matters, but im deeply saddened that you would take the position that you won't communicate a status report to us and lose, conservatively, 30 accounts and possibly up to 80 and a PR storm as well... It seems ludicrous to me.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:24:06 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'I'm sorry that you feel that you are not happy with us contacting you personally on this matter. However we just do not have the man power to contact ever time enabled guild personaly about the status of this bug. As I personally have three servers that I do look over. The only thing we can do and that is up to developement again is post something on our web page and or patch message.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:25:29 2004] You told Vaylin, 'I think you do, at least, owe at least a status to the guild across all servers who has been bugged the longest.. .maybe working with people on Drinal is better for the dev team, and as a programmer, I wont say it isn't.. but you do owe the guild who has the longest time blocked from the zone at least something.. can let us handle the communication from there if ya like.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:28:10 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'Again I am sorry thta you are not happy with the whole situation. However as I said you'll need to contact the developement team on any dissatisfaction with how the fixing of this zone is going. As for communication the best we can do for you is to ask that you check the offical website and patch messages. I am again sorry and I do hope you have a better night.'

[Fri Jan 23 23:29:59 2004] Vaylin is not online at this time.
[Fri Jan 23 23:30:12 2004] Players in EverQuest:
[Fri Jan 23 23:30:12 2004] ---------------------------

[Fri Jan 23 23:30:12 2004] There are no players in EverQuest that match those who filters.

We are at our wits end. We can't raid in PoTime and are forced to compete in elemental planes for mobs that are trivial and uninteresting against several other guilds. Another guild on same server gets problem fixed over night, while we are now after 3 weeks still waiting for an answer, and the best we get is sorry, send a feedback.

I know to most of you this might be completely uninteresting, but it's the epitomy of how SoE handles serious issues that is seriously affecting gameplay. As an officer in this guild I am trying to talk people out of cancelling their accounts, but even some officers are thinking about just moving on. The treatment that we recieved so far has been abysmal at the best. I even had 1 guide suggest to me that our guild should go play alts.. all I could do is laugh.

Short of abusive bahviour we have no more recourse left. We've talked to the GM's, even had a dev talk to us and check some members instance ID's to verify the problem. But nothing else. We know they can remove instance ID's from characters to at least remedy the problem temporarily, and while some guilds get this treatment, we with probably the longest running bug don't even get a feedback on what is going on.

We've emailed dozens of times, we've had officers petition every day about these issues, and 3 weeks later we still get a "sorry, it's being looked at but can't give you any more information".

Sorry to make this abnormaly long post, but we thought it be nice to show how a serious problem affecting a good 70+ people is being handled by Sony. I hope that none of you will ever fall subject to such horrid and dissatisfying customer service while playing this game.

--------------------------------------------------

The most interesting part of the long sorry conversation was in my opinion the following:

Quote:
Fri Jan 23 23:03:30 2004] Vaylin tells you, 'The only resets that have been done on that zone have been due to them taking it down to attempt to fix this issue. We do not offer any customer service except the basic assistance in plane of time as developement has has asked us not to.'

If the statement is correct (and i am not implying that Derringer changed anything - but the GM might be dumb) this little snippet means:

that Sony know that there is a bug with Time
that Sony know the bug is a gamestopper for high end guilds
that Sony do not know how to fix it at this time
that Sony know there is a simple temporary fix to the problem
that Sony by using the fix would let us - the subscribers use the service we are paying for.
that Sony deliberately chooses not to to use the fix
and
that Sony consecuently deliberately denies us a service we are paying for.

Okay Hail all,
I am making an alt on this server to play with a friend. I have taken a look at Guildmagic.com and noticed that the majority of character's are either Warriors or Druids, so based on that what character class is needed (see in Fironia Vie I can never find Clerics). I just wanna be able to group with others when myself and friend can't get on at the same time.
Anybody with a comment?
I was thinking of a Vah Shir Beastlord because that class has the lowest numbers.

Hey guys i just wanna know what Verrant's problem is with people selling there characters on eBay. I got my account suspended for placing 2 adds on eBay and they cancelled the other 2 auctions I had going at the time... so i just made a new account... anyways, the characters are still available and i'm looking for anything higher then $100 for them. 47 enchanter, 32 druid, and 7 warrior on Tarrew Marr, send me an email at travischase@comcast.net if you want to buy them please. Look below for the ebay description.

chanter (gnome,
male, name - Ravo {no last name yet}) - Follower's sleeves, crystal chitin head, incandescent mask, netted
kelp gloves, sarnak somethin necklace (like 4int 8cha and some focus i cant
remember), 2 batskull earrings, kobold boots (for extended infliction mezz),
incandescent wand (for melee), opal stein, stein of moggok, some robe
similiar to crystal covered but with a better graphic, blue velium diamond
wrist, chipped bone bracelet, braided ivy chord, in bank the chanter has 2
bags full of half/full research pages, nightshade wreath, 60 or so silk
swatches (was gonna start on tailoring skill), another braided ivy chord,
sheer bone mask, CCS, crude stein, crinthia's ring, shimmering orb, bone
mask of jarsath, petrified erudite heart, about 200 plat in bank, and 10
tashania coins i never turned in because the zone was down at the time, on
warrior (kinda hard to remember havent played him in a while, lol) orc fang
earring, owlbear claw earring, spider fur collar, mammoth hide cloak,
turtleshell helm, buryani hide mask, bloodstain mantle, crafted armor (i
think), bracers of erroli, Centi short sword, black ice sleeves, some stuff
in the bank i bought by mistake (like another necklace and a couple other
things), kylong greeves, on druid i have forest loop, +3 wis earring, kunzar
cloak, slivery mask, warden symbol of tunare (clickable root), thats +5wis
mantle, foreman's tunic, centi warhammer, centi warspear, a bunch of fur's,
and a bunch of cooking materials in the bank (140+ baking), and that +20 svc
cloak you get where mammoths spawn, i dont think there is any money in bank
for either druid or warrior but if there is i guess thats a bonus.

I havent have time to look around to see, but i think we have more low lvl, to mid lvl ranged guild on this server then any other out there.. just think its funnie is all.
When it comes to high end guilds we all know the names. ED, Syn.B&L, MoKB, BRR. just to name a few because i cant reamber the other ones.. But my point is, if these high end guilds would pull toght, form an aliance, just get along for one day at least, they could do some GREAT!! things.. like take down sleeper for one, or get to the last hall in ToV. TWINK EVERBODY IN THERE GUILDS.

But hay im just a druid, what do i know?
Other then the guild issue, i think this is by far the best server for the game, the nice out rank the mean, the noobs are trained quickly, even tho we like to use the name in place of MORON!!, and its just an alaround great place to play.
Ok im done

Hi, I want to know where is a good place for a 51 ogre war to group at OTHER than Karnor. I've grown so sick of not being able to get any groups in there then once I do my group dies off shortly after I get there. And also at 51 half of the mobs that are OK for soloing in DL turn green so it makes soloing there out of the question.

Does anyone know of a good place to group at on Tarrew marr other than Karnor? Or at least a nice place to solo at?

First I'd like to say how amazing this game is, I've had the pleasure of meeting friends from all parts of the world and have had many adventures with them.
I am from Australia and the only thing that bothers me with the game is most of the time those friends I have met tend to go to bed 2hrs after I log on : (.
With the introduction of chat channels I was hoping/wondering if a channel named Asiapacific would help us keep in touch with other people within this timezone.
This idea is not to isolate us from other players but to simply increase our groupage playtime.

Another thought in regards to finding a specific class to complete a group is to create channels for Druid, Cleric, Monk etc etc
for example
/join Cleric
/chat 1 Group looking for a lvl 50 to 55 in KC

These are just some ideas, what do you think?

I have been watching this unfold and I am pretty much heartsick about it. I am not ready to kill RF and I honestly may never be. So, I am a kinda looking at this with a more or less fresh pair of eyes. I have an idea and a proposal. The idea is lined out at the address below and the board that the idea talks about already exist and is up and running.

http://www.nordbergonline.com/RAGEFIRE

There are a million message boards out there an no one board is THE board that all clerics look at. No guild has a board that is "the" most popular so it is hard to establish a vote on this thing. Here is what I propose. http://www.nordbergonline.com/RAGEFIRE

This will NOT fix the problem today, or even this week. BUT If by seeing this here you go and post a link to it on every message board that you know of and we put up a vote on ONE message board that everyone has access to, we should be able to get a good representation of clerics on TM.

Hi guys, I'm a relative newbie to the fascinating world of Norrath, and I just wanted to talk about a few things, and ask a few questions, hope you don't mind

I have begun my EQ career with a troll warrior. He has worked his way up into lvl 12, working his way through Innothule Swamp, then to the Orcs in South Ro. But he has itchy feet and the travelling bug has overcome him.

He has some good equipment for his level, believe it or not being nice to people has it's rewards. He is carrying a Blade of Xorgos ( I think that's it), wearing a Brigandine Tunic, and has some decent armour (AC 146 AT THE MOMENT)

Where should I head now. I was thinking of going to Nektolas, so I am near Neriak, and then into Lavastorm Mountain, I think this would be a good place to hunt. Or maybe I will go for a run through Feerott, Rathe Mountains, Lake Rathetear, South Karana (where if I'm lucky someone may help me with some Crafted quests:),and so on until I get to Qeunos Hills as I am interested in hunting in Blackburrow aswell.

Anyway, was just after your views and advice. Lodge them here or e-mail me personally at rippah30@hotmail.com

Is it Tarew Marr or no?
# Feb 20 2002 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
I have a question that i have to ask because i'm too lazy to test it out myself...wait, not lazy, i just would rather play than log in and out of every server to see how they are. ANYWAY, my question is this: Is the lag i experience in Luclin the same on all servers? I remember when Kunark came out, that continent had some pretty bad lag for a time but that has pretty much been taken care of over time, at least for me. But Luclin, with the exception of a couple zones that I don't really want/need to hunt, I can barely do a 180 without getting a huge amount of lag. Fighting is scary as hell because i think i'm going to go LD every other second.

Anyone else having problems up there? I have the recommended or better on everything, adjusted my clipping plane & gamma correction, did everything I can think to do and all i can get is a minor improvement...but I avoid Luclin for now simply cuz I hate dealing with it.

I can't speak for all the other servers either but I can contribute this bit of information, if for nothing more than FYI.

I've played EQ since the first week of Kunark's release and I got my brother hooked about a year ago. I used to lag BADLY everytime I went into any zone in Kunark and thought it was just cuz it was new, bugs hadn't been worked out, etc. etc.

I was (still am) playing on a PC I built myself that has solid specs for gaming (processor a bit on the slow side but RAM is buff and vid card is right up there) and my brother just bought a KICK *** machine with all the trim for online gaming. I went to his place this past weekend and I'm tellin' you...he has very little to no lag in most zones except for a few on Luclin. He still gets spikes here n' there but for the most part, he's smooth as can be.

That led me to believe that it's not so much the servers VI has us on but the machine we are playing with. I'm upgrading my processor to match my brother's and replacing my vid card with a top-o-the-line and I feel confident that I'll see the same performance as his.

While not sure if it's just our server, I lag my way through everything except The Nexus, and even then I'm a little choppy.

As an example, it took me 1 hour to get across ShadowHaven to by a level 12 wizard spell... all be cause I had a framerate up there of about 1 frame per 2 seconds.

I've tried the Lanys server as well, and lagged my way around Shar Val, so it's *probably* not just us.
question...

Hail and Fair Greetings all of you who dwell in Norrath on Tarew Marr!

Just found this forum :)

Does anyone know the avg population of this server and/or how old it is? The number of people on at any given time used to be posted when logging into game, but it hasn't done that in a long time (unless I need to choose an option someplace that I'm missing).

I most often play Terrillian and welcome any tells in game.

I know TM is one of the oldest, if not the oldest. Last count I had on this server was well in to the 3000's, but that was before they did a server split a while ago.

This is a copy of a post I put on the Spirits of the Night guild website.

-----------------------------------------------

Anyone interested in putting together a group to raid The Liberated Citadel of Runneye, post a response or send me an e-mail.

I'm mainly looking for low-mid twenties and would like to put together a well rounded party. Personally, I am after a black alloy medallion (+5 INT/WIS, 6 AC, Neck slot) and will pretty much let any other loot go to whoever.

I know that everyone in wants to hunt Kunark as soon as they hit there twenties, but this zone gives a 20% exp bonus, a fair amount of loot, and can easily be handled by a well rounded group of people that are willing to work together. Plus, it is VIRTUALLY DESOLATE since Luclin has come out -- We'd most likely have the entire zone to ourselves! NO LAG!

-----------------------------------------

I am not a guild officer, and this is not a "guild sanctioned" event. It is open to anyone interested, and will be a lot of fun if we can put together. Hope to hear from you soon!

I too am a member of the Spirits of the Night. I ALSO would like to do a Runnyeye raid. I just can't seem to find anyone that wants to do it.
I have a 31 cleric: Leenk Deaad, 25 paladin: Lowedown Rottenscoundrel, a 19 druid: Linamas (SotN), and an 11 war: Lillun. Send me a tell in game and I will drop everything to raid this place.

Happy Hunting
Shadows of Pain... err... Luclin

Having tons of trouble getting on EQ since installing Shadows of Luclin. Finally installed all of the patches. However, can't get EQ to run. Keep getting a message that says "no 3d devices found". Odd, eh?

Went out and reinstalled the most current versions of my drivers. No luck.

As bad as it sounds, I hope this is a Verant problem... not localized to my PC.

Are you still having problems?

Did you look on everquestlive.com? There is a lot of helpful information concerning what equipment is compatable directX 8.1, and SoL.

Good luck. And if you are still having problems, post another note.

I apologize for not having made myself known earlier, but I've been busy. Officer of Mistwolf Awakening... just got into a hell level... thinking about marrying the Enchanter I've been grouped with for the last nine levels... Busy busy.

We're out there... we're just busy beating down the opposition.
Welcome!

I extend a hearty and magnanimous invitation to this new section of the Alla boards. As my Kingly obligations and duties demand, I welcome you to post about this server so that others from your land may learn about your guilds, grouping and mob rules, items for sale, the location of friends and comrades, and other pertinent information.

This is a great opportunity to set up meeting places and times for bazaars, raids, wild drunken parties, and weddings.

Post away, all you domesticated cattle!

There's really nothing server-specific to post about i guess....i am curious, however as to the server rank in terms of age. Not how old the actual server itself is but which was the first one EQ was played on, which was second and so on. I'm guessing Tarew Marr has to be right up there....
