new guild

There is a new guild in the EQ world, our name is Chaos Operations. If you see any of us around feel free to say hi. We are currently keeping guild minimum level entry at 15 but this can be waved under special circumstances. Basically, we are a guild of friends, new and old, commited to helping each other out and being there for one another. If you tire of a guild because the members of it seem to either not care or are just never online, then you might wanna think about joining us. We are young, yes, but we will be around for a long time to come. So send us a tell if you are interested in joining.

Thanx!

I have an idea for a guild I want to run by you all. See if its just a bad idea or if you have some ideas or even interest in helping me make it.

First, some backround. As of today, I was in a guild on this server called "Prima Nocturnae". Chances are you have not seen many of us because not many of us are left actively playing. Because of this we voted to disband and join other guilds.

So, I'm shopping for a new family. Whatever your opinions, I think a 55+ wizard needs the support of a guild to make it to 65. Not dissin the solo people out there. I have respect for the lone wolf; the free agent. But as a 57 wizard; I just can't see me storming the Plane of Time by myself or with anyone else that I have no connection to or loyalty to me should I perish.

But as I look (I jot down guild names whenever I see them and look them up on the net) and check out various guild charters; I see what I consider to be archetypes in guilds.

There are power guilds that are only interested in you for your level, stats, and AA points. They demand you show up for mandatory raids and meetings. They could care less what you are like as a person.

Then there's formless chaos. Guilds that never do anything together and cannot get anything done.

Occasionally, rarely, you get a happy medium.

But how does a good guild form? The chaotic guild indoctrinates anyone that asks. The raid guilds require blood samples, a decades long probation, and a 500 page essay on what they can contribute.

So here is my proposal:

What if a guild existed entirely dedicated to placing players in the right guild for them? Not like a dating service.....I'm struggling to put the concept into words. Rather, a type of mentor guild. An organization so respected that guilds would automatically accept a proposed member from them. Like West Point graduates are to the Army. And the best of the best being asked to join this mentor guild.

There exist Guides picked by Sony. I know this. But when has ANY one of them ever been any real help? Their hands are so bound as to make them worthless except as lost item retrievers for quest items that were eaten by npcs.

I heard a new player yesterday ask the PoK zone what to do about getting his corpse in Blackburrow. His pleas for help were met with derision and jokes. Okay, I am no saint! I am not saying that at all. But I told the guy to not panick; and I went into there and recovered the body. And you know what? It was a blast. He treated me like a hero and it was the best feeling I had had playing EQ in many months.

Now, this guy didnt proceed to go back in and stupidly get killed again or worse, beg for plat and gear. I would have translocated him to Cazic-Thule and forgotten him in a heartbeat. He asked intelligent questions and was polite as hell. A player with potential. I ported him to various locations appropriate to his level and pointed out which mobs to try and made sure he had a decent grasp on things before I left him on his own. I didn't make much experience that day; but it was a fun diversion.

The guild wouldn't likely be huge. People willing to help others are pretty rare in EQ.;-)But the guild I propose would have the respect of the guilds it would be helping and plenty of allies for those times it did decide to raid.

I realize this sounds pretty high and mighty. But the image I would hope for would be one of respect as a guild with maybe just some envy towards its members for being picked. But approachable; not snobbish.

I kind of like this name:

The Mentor Legion

So, any ideas? Critiques? I'm not even suggesting I lead the guild. I just wanted to see what people thought and what the iterest level would be.

i for one would love to see just this kind of guild forming on this server as well as the others that i play on. when i first started playing EQ it certianly wasn't always about l00t and equipment - and to be honest i've been spending more time helping newbies/lowbies than worrying about leveling. not saying that i am the best player who knows more than anyone but i've had a blast. i'm not even on that much anymore but if you're around and still thinking about trying to get this kind of guild together, please look me up, i'd like to help in any way i can.

I think that is a great idea. I like the name too. I dont think too many people check these forums looking around at the dates. You might want to try posting this somewhere where more people are involved. =)

I have taken up jewelry, fletching, and smithing, so as you can imagine I am poor. In fact I am a lvl 9 ranger with 4pp! Any ideas on how to get some more money? Send tells to Wenolian or put it up here. Thanks!

Drop jewelry making and smithing for now. Raise the fletching then go back to smithing. Jewelry making is going to seriously shrink your purse and you're going to need a Chanter more times than you care to in order to enchant your metals. Smiley: banghead

Fletching at this point May be the most useful skill. I'm not sure about smithing, though.

At lvl 9 you may want to put your foraging abilities to use. Folks who bake (such as myself) are always looking for cinnamon sticks (forage-only) and pixie dust (there is a tower with Tons of pixies in LFay who you shouldn't have a problem mercilessly slaughtering--keep your tracking up for Equestrielle, though! She's made mincemeat out of me three times now!). They pay up to 1 plat per each stick or dust. I've seen plenty of /ooc's and /shout's for morning dew, another foraged-only item.

Seeing how as this was posted sooo long ago I'm sure you're well past lvl 9 by now, hehe, but I thought maybe another young ranger might happen upon this post and find it useful.

Happy hunts!

Good Morning!

I am Aeldwan the Enchanter of the Guild Wanderers of the Realm on Morrell-Thule. Ours is a Roleplaying Guild one of only a few on the Server. We are basically a good aligned Guild, despite Scathar who we are weaning to the light side. We accept most any Roleplayers after 10th level of so far any race but Dark Elves and Trolls. We have members in all ranges from 10th to 51st and friends in many of the 40+ only guilds whom we join up with to beat on things in scary places. We are very loose and friendly, and demand very little save an attempt to stay in your character while on. Alts are always welcome as well. Goods are available usually as trickle down items come available and often are given not purchased. We have masters in most crafts and a few grandmasters in some for those special items you may be looking for.
Come join us for fun and a laid back atmosphere. Just be careful of the Ice Giants, they walk through walls.

I extend a hearty and magnanimous invitation to this new section of the Alla boards. As my Kingly obligations and duties demand, I welcome you to post about this server so that others from your land may learn about your guilds, grouping and mob rules, items for sale, the location of friends and comrades, and other pertinent information.

This is a great opportunity to set up meeting places and times for bazaars, raids, wild drunken parties, and weddings.

Post away, all you domesticated cattle!

Besides the guild list here on Allakhazam's, are there any other guild listings on other sites? I have a few guilds that I've become interested in, but can't find any information on them.

(follow-up from later)

Okay, I found a pretty good site (and if you interpolate the numbers, you can figure out what the server populations are, kinda):

Most of the members are in their mid 30s to low 50s, and we have been recruiting in the 20 to 30 range. Just look for any of us in game and we would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

I'm a lvl 21 iksar monk looking for a guild. Currently I'm soloing LoIO mostly, but considering a change to Runny Eye for the Sporalli gloves. I have a RL buddy who is a lvl20 h8man Monk that will follow me to what ever guild I end up chooseing. I play mostly 11pm to 3am spt or 10am to 4pm pst depending on the day. I have kunark (hence the iksar) and he just has the base EQ for now, soon to get Kunark as well. We're both planning to upgrade to Luclin, and Velious when they are needed.

Anyway, if your looking for a monk team who is interested in getting to the high lvl game, we are the guys. Contact Mathazar
