The popular use for this item is cutting augment stones from OoW expansion. The trivial on a Radiant cut augment stone is around the 350 mark.
This has made the diamond dust a farmed item.

I know 2 people who failed the combine to make this with tinkering skills in the mid 50s. Just a word of warning if you are trying.

mid 50's skill is only going to give you about a 85% chance of success. Given the difficulty in getting the Dust, that's probably not a high enough chance of success to try (well, I wouldn't try)

100 tinkering (which is easy to get to), will put you into the 5% failure rate area.

From the Tinkering Compendium

Can be used in the level 50 Shadowknight Life Leech spell quest. NPC Darfumpel (+4130, +900 in Rathe Mountains) normally charges 1000p to turn the rough edged Hyacinth into a faceted one. The rough edged Hyacinth Darfumpel
initially gives you for 2000p is placed in a high-skilled, jeweler's bag with the Gemcutter. When combined sucessfully a faceted Hyacinth
is produced avoiding the 2nd 1000p charge."

Now that this is up here...

Maybe we could find a use for this!

True.. Greasy Diamond of Innovation is tself a component for a higher end (197 Trivial) Pottery item called 'Ceramic Hammer of Innovation'. It is a +12 Agility and +10 SV Poison all/all item... looks good for rogues :)
