This is a hard recipe, but probably the faster and cheaper way to skillup tailoring:

* Tunic Pattern (1) sold very cheap in npcs
* Sacred Tunare Silk (3) , the hard part, should be easy and cheap (<50pp) if you have:
- an account with a cleric of tunare / a friend with time to imbue some bags of emeralds
- you can always count with a good stock of spider silk and celestial essence in the bazaar
* Gem Studded Chain (1) is expensive (about 1kpp) but is returned in fails, that is:
- 95% fails from 0 to 204 tailoring (but I would not use this recipe before 188)
- up to 60 % fails from 205 to 240
* Embroidering Needle (1) , make one, then you have it forever, it is returned always

Depending on race and availability of a researcher, Cultural robes may be a better option.

As a human tailor, I did mostly cultural robes up to 250, with a few wyvern combines, black panther and cobalt drake belts when materials were cheap.

The nice thing about the cultural robes is that often the pages, and other materials are vendored by people who don't know what they are for, and can be bought in bulk cheap.

Don't forget LoY robes for those proficient at vendor mining and Othmir fur for those proficient at farming.

I don't get it. This is supposed to be a great skill up, on the premise that you fail pretty much every time and get the gem studded chain back...

but even so, it's eating up three imbued emeralds every time, and they ain't exactly cheap. emeralds are like what... 14pp each? x3 = 42pp? granted, at only 42 per combine, that would be cheap (for tailoring), but they also have to be imbued... unless you can imbue them yourself, it seems unlikely to be able to get such a large quantity of them that you could skill up on this.

I'm a ranger, and, I hate to admit it but I actually went out and farmed enough silks to make 800 silk swatches, only to realize that I had no source of imbued emeralds. a dru friend of mine said it really eats up mana (and he's 65) so it seems unlikely that anyone would want to do it for cheap...

Any thoughts on this?

Carry a few stacks of Emeralds on you at all times.

During downtimes (group waiting for tank to get to group, raid formation), send tell to players who can imbue and give them a stack.

On a raid with 4+ imbueing, can get done very very fast.
