Update: 05-23-2020 --> Trivial 212 tailoring. The level required to create is 210. Also, modifier items don't count for that.

Need actual skill points

I have 212 skill with my items equipped, and it won't let me do the combine. You need to have 210 actual skill to do the combines, which means unless its your first Specialized tradeskill above 200, you'll need to purchase at least one rank in New Taanan Crafting Mastery aa, and spend a long time and a lot of plat farming mats to get your skill ups.

Fabled Akhevan Shadow Shears + Freshman Tailor Trophy equipped, 212 skill total, not enough to attempt combine.

It does not seem to work for me in a Collapsible Sewing Kit.

What would be the cost to make such and item if one had the appropriate skills? I'm sure it is a sellers market but what would a reasonable cost be if one wished to hire a craftsperson to make it? Yes I realize that reasonable is subjective. I'm just asking for a helpful answer. I am not into the time and effort to make such an Item and I am in Awe of those that have such perserverance. I would also be know how you find a craftsperson that can be hired to craft items. There should be a directory in the bazaar where one could go to find a list of crafts people and associated skill. I do not have the time or patience to stand around and send /ooc asking for a crafter.

Using Ethereal Silk Swatch to increase his Tailoring skill
# Jan 12 2004 at 5:50 AM Rating: Decent
You can try this receipe at 210 in tailoring by using a Geerlock (Skill +5%) or, if you are lucky, at 192 by using a 'Akhevan Shadow Shears' (Skill + 15%) from Shei Vinitras of Akheva Ruins.

Yea its lame

I can see using a Tanaan loom so that we have to have the expansion and Sony makes more money. But why not let people skill up more on this item. Its already hard enough to skill past 200 in tailoring. Brewing is profitalble to break 200 same with jewelery but tailoring is a waste given the price of acrylia and rockhopper hides,
should have read ahead
# Aug 12 2003 at 2:06 PM Rating: Default
bah, i should have read ahead...that sucks, i made everthing up the the brewing and got them message "you are too inexperience to even think about attempting this combine" or something like that :( my brewing is like 162. that does suck.
?

wouldn't it be 202 + 5% geerlock (5% of 202=10 so 212 or 202 x 1.05 = 212? So you can at least get 10 skill ups?

Nope the TRIVIAL is 212, but to attempt, you need an EFFECTIVE skill of 220.

210skill +5%geerlok (10.5pts)=220.5 (rounds down)

trivials at 212. therefore, with a geerlok, you can obtain 2 skillups on these:
from 210-211
from 211-212

At this point, you get the trivial message.

you get no skill ups. to get a skill up the item needs to be above the trivial level. once you use the geerlok to improve skill, it goes over the trivial

As someone who has personally gained 2 skillups when my tailoring was 210 raw skill, and I gained these 2 points to 212 raw skill. Had 210 skill and used a 5% geerlok to reach 220 to be able to make them.

So yes, it is possible, and actually extremely practical to stop whatever recipe you are doing and gain these essentially 2 "free" skillups once you get 210 skill, due to the ultra-common availability of the ingredients, and extreme cheapness of them. (2-5pp in most servers bazaar)

If you're one of the extremely lucky people to have akhevan shadow shears, and are working on tailoring, this recipe is a fantastic cheap skillup path.

Yes, you get the skill ups.
Only the basic skill level is counted for the trivial-limit.
hmm...
# Jan 05 2003 at 9:16 PM Rating: Decent
If you have to be 220 to even attempt it, then how could we possibly know that it's trivial at 212?

You need 220-modified skill to attempt.
210-raw + 5%-geerlock = 220-modified.
You can start attempting combines at 210-raw skill, and you see it become trivial at 212-raw skill.
Trivial?
# Dec 07 2002 at 5:34 PM Rating: Default
So you cannot make this to build skill? Sheesh this would be simple to gain skill up hehe.
past trivial to even attempt
# Nov 28 2002 at 4:05 PM Rating: Default
what is up with this new thing, requiring something to be past trivial to even attempt it?
This is realy agrivating to not be able to use this combine to advance your skill. As if tayloring is not already difficult enough to advance why have they done this to this trade?
