How To Make Money

How to make money as as Barbarian:

LEAVE EVERFROST

As soon as possible, get out of everfrost, go to Qeynos and bind. If you're 8th or higher, this is no problem. FOR MONEY, I suggest staying in the newbie area or Qeynos and killing RATS. YES RATS. The rats in Qeynos drop a lot of stackable items (whiskers, ears, meat), and Plague Rat Tails which sell at around 15GP EACH.

Go into non-stop killing machine mode and kill every rat you see for an hour, and loot EVERYTHING they have. I've done this and made 30pp+ in an hour. That's awesome for level 8. Also, if you run out to the IG camp in Everfrost, I'll bet you could buy a Fine Steel weapon off one of the upper level people that're camping the IGs for 5pp or less, hell, they'd probably give you one.

For experience, go into the Qeynos Hills area, or right up at the top of Blackburrow, you should do ok. You can stay in BB until about level 12, then get a port, or WALK to the Oasis of Marr which is south of Freeport. This isn't the endall strategy to making money/exp, but it's quick, time-tested, and effective.

Even better place in the Paneel newbie area. Kill everything there. Bring a spit with you to make food out of Rat Ears and Firebeetle eyeballs, and Rat Meat and Bread. Great loot.

Also go into the Warrens at level 7 or so and make even more money. Just do not go in too far and don't let the Kobolds run away.

Actually a better place to get money is in butcher blocks mountains, Aqua goblins are good 100pp+ an hour for a level 8

At least the decaying skellies in everfrost drop coin. They don't in GFay.

Banking for the Ice Giant hunters is good, you can take a percentage cut, give them 1 plat for 11 gold for exmple, and buy the fine steel off them for 3plat and sell it in Halas for 5 or 6. The hunters will often be very appreciative and buff you too. This works best if you bind at the Halas bank. THen you can get totally weighed down and gate back, since you can't run fast, if at all, depending on how much coin and stuff you have on you. I also made money buying mammoth tusks off people at a discount and selling them in town.

If you get a High Quality bear skin, you can sell it to a tailor for 30pp or so, they make hand-made backpacks out of them.
That's how I made money in Everfrost, at least until I could kill Ice Giants. They drop up to 40pp, as well as gems and other goodies. That's why there are always lvl 50+ characters camping them.

Well, you could either hunt in the second floor of Blackburrow, or in the Tundra in everfrost. In Everfrost get a partner or try to solo the Mamoth calfs.

i think the only thing wrong about barbs are that they have no newbie armor quest and they have poor eyesight if they had better eyesight i would like them a lot more, but other than that they rock!!!

This is wacked thay have a kit for all races to make themselves armour and even wepons the barbarians and a few other races dont get this oppertunity. In all fairniss i think thay sould give all races and classes the newbee kits to obtain a start in the game. this would give them a better chance of survial at low levels and increase the diversity of the game!

I have to agree with you but I think the thought was that with Babarians having such great stats it would be an unbalancing factor for the game. But you at least would think they would offer a nice newbie magical weapon. I guess its part of the price for playing a large race :((. The first magical weapon offered in halas is the Langseax which can mess up your faction with the banker Oh well guess we will overcome and adapt.

I want to find the racial and class, XP penalties and bonuses.

Does anyone have this info and could yah give it to me.

I have a barbarian Shaman, he rock and levels quite nicely.

I have a halvling Bard and leveling with him is like pulling teeth, no matter where I go what I kill (except in the Hole) others with the same time played level way faster than him.

I want to make the fastest, class race comob that will level very very fast, I was told that halvlings level the fastest hand have an experience bonus, true?

Appreciate the help thanks mucho.

Probably the race/class combo that levels really fast is a Gnome/Warrior.

Do Barb beastlords have to go ALL THE WAY BACK TO HALAS to get any training at all? how can they get the ShadowHaven trainer to talk to them? lol, I thought kitties were supposed to be pretty faction neutral, but the kitty beastlord trainer told me in no uncertain terms that he didn't deal with barbarians! Any clues at all??
RE: Beastlord Training
# Aug 11 2002 at 8:34 PM Rating: Decent
Barbarian Beastlords can train in ShadowHaven if you use the ShadowHaven faction quests (talk to Staeon Alarenier in a room near the Nexus drop point to get started.) Indifferent is good enough to get them to train you. They can also train in Shar Vahl, the cats are indifferent to everyone and they WILL train you.

How can the tall in stature enter doorways to access certain NPCs. I collected a supply of raider headbands and bracers to give to Capt Keatar in FV, but he is too far from window and shrink says only works in dungeons. Why the inequitabilty in races?? Is there something I am missing?
RE: Entering Doorways
# Apr 21 2002 at 5:42 PM Rating: Good
Find yourself a kind shaman and ask them to sell you an Ant's potion (Shrink) that should do the job for you. Please note they are not cheap to make so you will probably pay around 20pp for it. Hope this helps=)
RE: Entering Doorways
# Apr 18 2002 at 4:59 PM Rating: Good
With my shaman I use the bear illusion (luclin spell, I forget the name, but it buffs plus 5 on wisdom.) This lets me in any door I have ever tried. (I haven't tried the halfling huts in Misty Thicket...those are SMALL!)

But, I am looking for a solution too. My barb beastlord probably doesnt get that spell, and there isnt always a druid around to give group wolf form.

Tagging a small beast that triggers guard reaction, (like a wasp) and running it past the NPC sometimes draws them away, so, if you are quick, you can trade with them while they are outside their barb-proof hut. I used that technique to get my gem inlaid gauntlets.

ok as a Lvl 23-22-24 barbarion warrior (dont go onto the kos city just after leveleing) Here is the low down. Barbarians get the inate abilty as do all large races to slam. Slam by itself is not a skill but does require a magical shoulder piece in order to affect magical creatures. Warriors gain the ability to Bash witha shield come lvl 3 i think (been so long ago). To bash you need a shield ;Howevere, bash is a skill and can increase in skill and once you know bash your slam abilty allows you to increase and work as a bash. With this abilty the larger warriors (barbs trolls ogres) still have the abilty to bash when they reach higher levels and gain the abilty to dual wield (lvl 15). So Bashing requires a shield and to strike magical creatures a magical shield, Slaming is not a skill till you have bash and then tacks on to bash but uses your shoulder and thus a magical shoulder piece is needed to slam magical creatures (although the animation has always been using the hand its just not accurate) Personally the bash skill is not useful after lvl 15 because of dual wield but is ok before then just for your slam abilty to increase & i personally have not had bash in my hotkeys since lvl 12 since slam is much better and preferred

Remember the true strength af a barbarian warrior is to have a weapon in each hand double attack high ac all fighting skills maxed out a talented cleric behind you(preferably one who can keep you alive but still beserk) an attitude of reckless abandon and a bloodlust to match no other thats when groups love you not just a tank but a QUISINART

Cleric: OK i need to mem an undead spell in this zone

Necro: I always have an undead spell ready

Warrior: I dont have an undead spell = [

Necro: Baby, You are an undead spell!

In order to slam magical beings, you need to equip a piece of magical armor in your shoulder slot.

Taludor...Why even go so far?? The xp is quite good i admit it (for crocs and aligators) and u can also hunt orcs at orc highway, but if you die - and even if you have a bind at Freeport it is a long way to go...Nah me friend thou should go to Qeynos and take the boat to Erudin - toxx forest and then thou should get a bind just outside the Zone to the warrens!! Enter warrens and when thou get 16 you go through warrens to Stonebrunt Mtns and you only leave for banking...either at Paineel (but thou will have to kill a lot of Kobolds to get faction enough for going there) or you bank at Erudin...i meself went there at 15 and me been here 8 lvls and made meself a small fortune 800pp...

ok first off this is real easy to do if you are careful and all you have to do is run. First you want to have about 30pp when you start. Ok get out all of your pp and run to the Ice Giant fort it is not dangerous i was lvl 10 when i did it and never got killed by an ice giant but on the way i was attacked by orcs, leaps and thats about it. And by the way if you have SOW on its so easy but it is alot easier if you are a shammy but ok here is how you do it. Leave town with all of your pp and thats it go to the mammoth ground plain thing then run left until you hit a wall then follow that wall then you will cross 2 rivers and then you will see a fort enterance just stay outside and ask if anyone needs a baner if they give you 300 gold then give them 25pp its easy you get 5pp profit from running out there. And if they are nice they will give you the IG loot which is 5-7pp worth weapons keep em for yourself and sell the rest then follow the wall on your right then run back to town then just repeat and after awhile you rake in the money...
