ROAR!

HEFFLINS Are the best! Alot of fun to roleplay, and on raids everyone needs a shrink but you ;P
All Class / Races have there disadvantages. At Level 60 I can standup to any other Level 60, so really it all evens out.

Hey Tyrin, I just quit my 34 gnome war on rathe for a halfling war i totally twinked him out with the gear from my other war i think halflings r the best wars so far..... Ogres, trolls=evil bad faction. Barbarians=no nightvision bad in dungeons or at night. Halflings= Da'best small so good in dungeons, nightvision, 2nd best starting stats for a good race, fastest leveler(got to lvl 10 in 2hrs), and best of all looks great in plate! Hehehe i have better gear then some 40+ wars *grins evily*. Hope to see you on the rathe somtime Tyrin we can mock the wars too tall for there own good! till later..

Halflings and Class
# Dec 26 2001 at 3:11 AM Rating: Excellent
Havig played Halflings of various classes--two over level 50--for around two years, I feel inclined to put in my 35pp (inflation)...

Halflings simply rock.

Cleric: Your wisdom is a bit below average and you can't wear a lot of the "standard" low-mid-level gear, (such as a Burynai Legion Gi, *shudder*)...but you have sneak and hide. Hide is indispensible while medding solo. Sneak allows you to buy and sell from the most recalcitrant merchants. Bump up your stamina after you have maxed out your wisdom and you are a decent tempora
rty tank, too.

Warrior: Did I mention hide? Hide while regenning hitpoints solo. Go AFK without worry (as long as you've hidden in a sensible place). Sneak up on opponents to pull them singly. Dump all of your starting points into stamina and put the rest into agility or dexterity...strength is a terribly overrated stat for warriors. Your job is to TAUNT, and you'll be better off if your taunt skill and AC are as high as possible.

Rogue: All Halflings have a little rogue in them. You start off with high agility and dexterity, plus innate hide and sneak. Spread your starting points evenly between agility and dexterity and strangth.

Druid: Almost too easy. Dump all starting points into wisdom that you can. The extra points are cake; put them wherever you want. You can solo well into your 50's if you want--bad idea, but you can.

That's it in a nutshell. Have fun!

Firt of all there is no reason being a halfling druid or anything besides a rouge when there are better races!!!!!! But I would have to say that definitey halfling rouges are great! :) I just started 1 with a little twink and were off! of course I did not put any into str but into agi and dex! You can always get Str items and after 100 str you do not see much of a difference! so know I have like 110 dex 125 agi i barely get hit and I always hit the npc's. My displines like parry kick in a lot more! i'm a hell of a lot faster hitter then any other rouge my backstab is like 10 below everyone elses :) but I hit faster and the mob is always trained on me because i'm the damage dealer :) Whats the name: celabrea

No doubt that a halfling rogue is wonderful to roleplay. The race/class combo has a lot of advantages and is just plain fun to play.

On the other hand, I chose a halfling Druid myself, largely because I think they absolutely kick ***** You get the soloability and exp bonuses so you can fly through levels compared to some other race/class combinations.

Plus, I love the rush of speeding along so close to the ground when SoWed.

Okay, the medication will kick in soon, so I will be all right. Just need to lie down until the delirium passes. Heheh.

Absolutely have to have sta over 100 if you plan on using any type of haste item. Your stamina drops FAST, and unless it's above 100, you'll get penalties when it runs out.

Halfling Warriors
# Nov 06 2001 at 5:38 AM Rating: Excellent
For all of you out there that want to be halfling warriors =).

There are many advantages to being a halfling warrior as opposed to ogres or barbarians, and a hell of a lot of disadvantages =)

Starting off, our base skills are not warrior orientated. I started of with 25 points into Agility and 5 in strength =p which I have not regretted as of yet.

Advantages of Agility are plain and simple:
1) More AC
2) Skills kick in more often (dodge, parry, riposte)

It also allows us to use armor with less AC and more resists/stats and still have the same AC as other warriors, if not more.
With more AC and with our defensive skills kicking in more, we take less damage overall.

Some warriors believe stamina is more important and in some cases it is. When you get higher though and fight stronger enemies the hitpoints added by your 25 points in stamina can be removed with 1/2 strikes. Where as the agility will keep you from getting hit as much or at all. Agility is *the* hardest stat to raise on a warrior, asside from Wis/Int (althought the crafted bracers would disagree) and Cha (mine's currently at 37), so get it up at the start.

Most max out their strength, believing it to be the most important attribute for a warrior. In most cases they're right, I've never been in a situation where more strength wouldn't help. But traditionally I believe it more important to focus on taking damage rather than putting it out.

Another advantage to being a halfling is that we're small =D. Makes it easier for chanters and casters to target over us (difficult to try and do it through an ogres legs, unpleasant aswell, unless they get shrunk)

The most important advantage to the halfling warrior is that they are among if not the fastest levelers in the game. This may not help you when you're level 60, but you'll sure as hell get there faster.

I haven't tried to play a warrior in any other race, so I'm not sure which one is the overall best, but I do know halfling warriors are fun to play, there aren't a lot of halfling warriors on any server and quite simply, we kick righteous donkey.

i agree with you all completly i my self am a 41 halfling warrior, and people say i do an awsome job as a tank and puller, i'v also noticed that i have higher ac than most other warriors even ones 4 or 5 levels higher than me, i love havin high dexterity which lets me proc me wepons more and crit more than most warriors.
after playin many other class/races i chose to be halfling warrior because: i think we start off with some of the best starting statz imho, i think i fixed up me strength and stamina pretty well, we do level faster than most all races even humans i think, and the hide and sneak skill has been a very help full skill to have, ive retrieved many a corpses for people in places most cant go with the skill and people love me for it.
I have the strength and stamina of an ogre the dexterity of a dawrf, and the agility of a woodelf, i think i chose the best race =)

Shortness really does pay off in battle when grouped with taller spellcasters! Of course, the spellcaster has to purposely look down in order to target us.

I wish I had put more points into Agility! Strength boosting items are much more common than agility boosting items. Hiding is indispensable, have located many a corpse in bad areas with patience and hiding. Halflings enjoy mana-free inconspicuousness!

Also, I have heard from many folk that Misty Thicket is one of the friendliest newbie areas.

I have a HFL WAR as well and I would recommend putting all possible skillpoints into STR to get it above 100 to start with. Halflings are pretty weak by nature and in my eyes STR is more importent then AGI. But both options will fit quiet well as long as you don't dump points into INT or CHA, hehe.

Yeah totally man.. I am a halfling war.. 40 and I dumped it all into str(wish I had MORE even!) and I don't get hit near as often as ogres =P I wouldn't trade ol' Mully for any other race either ! Think of the roleplaying possibilities! And the WOWS when you critical hit like 5+ times a battle! And when you outdamage that big slow sloppy Ogre! Yup... I love my halfling cleric and wouldn't trade it for any other race. The starting stats are among the best races for a cleric.

Arguments could be made that a dwarf is a better choice, but I'll take the better defensive attributes of the halfling over the strength of the dwarf. After all, a cleric can only melee for so long and then the idea is NOT to get hit.

RE: Which City?
# Sep 25 2001 at 3:08 PM Rating: Excellent
Halflings start out in rivervale. You want to divy out your 30 points depending on your class. I have a halfling druid. Druids use wisdom to determine amount of mana and spell casting success, so I put 25 points (the most allowed into one attribute) into wisdom. The other 5, I put into strength. Most will disagree with my choice of putting 5 into strength, but I HATE being encumbered, so I pumped up strength a little. Find out what attributes are important for your class selection, then decide where you want to put your points.

And i only see him every 10 weeks for a short 2 week stint on eq. me and him a big fans and play togeather, and do the father son thing. I haven't been down there in ages so have been out of touch with my character for ages. I've tried a few classes (wood elf ranger, human warroir, troll). Out of all these i have selted on the halfling cleric as my main character on the xegon server. As i have been out of touch for so long and just got a new computer for home, i want to start a new character, halfling cleric. I just wanted some tips and suggestions about charcter creation, skill traing - i want to become a tailer - and all round tips and other stuff that will help a red neck New Zealander out in the big wide world of everquest.

And what is good stuff to get like amour. Currently i have a bronze helmet and all the rest is leater. I forget what kind of weapon i have.

sorry for making you read my life history, i just thought i'd explian myself a bit

i'm also looking for friends.

Well, I can tell you what has worked for me so far.

Here are my feelings about each of the stats and which are important to the halfling cleric:

WISDOM
The cleric is a Wisdom based caster. The more Wisdom you have the more mana you get as you gain levels. Put as many of your starting points into Wisdom as possible.

STRENGTH
After a certain point the cleric simply cannot melee well. Strength allows you to hit for more damage and carry more. Unless you really want to carry more or be able to hit like a weak warrior rather than a wimpy warrior I wouldn't put any of your points into Strenth. There are plenty of Strength enhancing items out there. I would increase Strength with items rather than starting points.

STAMINA
Stamina helps you stay in a fight longer before becoming fatigued. It also determines the number of HP you get whenever you level. The extra HP is nice, but once again, after a certain point the cleric won't be meleeing, so I wouldn't put any points in Stamina either.

DEXTERITY
Dexterity helps you learn your weapon skills and makes your weapon proc more often. Again, these are primarily melee considerations, so I would save my extra points for something else.

AGILITY
An important attribute for a cleric. The higher your agility the less often you will get hit, the less damage you take when you do get hit and the quicker you will learn your defensive skills. After your melee days are over your support role as healer will get mobs quite upset with you. It's always good to not get hit. I would suggest putting all points you have left after Wisdom into Agility.

INTELLIGENCE
Unless you will be heavily into trade skills, which intelligence helps you out with, I would leave intelligence alone.

CHARISMA
I don't understand it. Halflings are soooo cute! Why do we have low charisma? The rest of the world must be jealous of our foothair. Again, unless you will be heavily into trade skills, where charisma will help you buy and sell at better prices, your points are better spent elsewhere.

I hope that this has helped anyone who wants to give the halfling cleric (a very wise combination) a try.

Good luck to you from Botten Baggens (only distantly related to Bilbo), Halfling Cleric of Saryrn

ORE What?
# Sep 02 2001 at 11:07 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know if HQ stackable ore still drops off MOBs in Runnyeye?

If not where do I get some?

I have spent months raising both my smithing & tailoring skills to suficient level to start making Halfling cultural armor & need to make a Vale sewing kit.

I have spent days in Runyeye without ever having seen any HQ ore drop, and have sent out shouts to anyone in the zone that I will buy the Ore - no one to my knowledge has looted any there since the Pickclaws took over

Any information would be appreciated :)
RE: ORE What?
# Sep 25 2001 at 6:35 AM Rating: Decent
In answer to your question. "yes" is the answer. Here is the trick. the ore drops ONLY off of the goblin Janitor. That's right off the Janitor. I've made 2 vale sewing kits to prove it. Now the janitor can come up to level 2, but is found FAR more frequently on the lowest level, cruising the cannal. If you do not ruin your faction with the GENUINE pickclaws, you can go down to the cannal, sit down, have beers with the gobies there and wait for the janitor. I say Genuine pickclaws becuase the ones on level 2 are on runnyeye faction, even though they say pickclaw.(just watch your faction report when you kill em) If you've wasted your Pickclaw faction, just go out into the gorge of King (whats his name, right off runnyeye though) and kill the muddites. this will INCREASE your faction so that you can safely venture into the bottom of runnyeye. The pop seems to be about a 2 hour wait. Once he does, he will wander around the cannal and sometimes up towards level 2. drops are fairly rare. I experienced about a 1 in 6 had the ore. (janitor is on runnyeye faction btw. He was the only mob that would agro on my down there, so it was easy, if SUPER timeconsuming.) Hope this helps

Rock Climbing in Rivervale-It can be done
# Sep 01 2001 at 9:01 PM Rating: Default
Have you ever thought there might be a way to get to that ledge waaaaaay up high above the tagglefoot farmstead? Well, there IS a way!

First of all, this might sound funny, but you CANT do this rock climbing with levitate, it is impossible, well, anyway, lets start.

First you must make your way to the small bridge that goes across the river. You know, the one with the little wooden planks. Well, there are four ledges right by the river and close to the bridge. 2 of them can be jumped up on, this might take a little time to get up on these, but, soon, you will be able to jump them in no time! Now, only one of these ledges has another jumpable ledge ontop of it. Find it, this is the ledge that can only be cleared by jumping, and can't be passed over using levitate. Now, jump on the ledge ontop of the first ledge you jumped on. You should now be on a large rock, so, look around and explore on top of it if you want to. Now, the next part is the absolute HARDEST JUMP! there is a slope on the rock shaped like a V, sloping downwards to the point. You have to jump from this point to the ledge on the other side, then you will be able to rock climb in rivervale. But, this jump is very tricky and is almost gauranteed to be done more than 10 times before you can jump it.

Here is what to do:
First, get as far down the slope as you can without falling off and position yourself so you are facing the closest part of the adjacent ledge. Then, push forward, and immeadeatly jump! Any of you who fail the first few times WILL be fustrated, but I can tell you, it CAN be done.

An alternate, and much easier strategy for this:
Now, this is simpley if you just think you can't do the jump, get a caster that can cast levitate to go rock climbing with you, and after you pass the second jump(The jump that cannot be cleared with levitate, and can only can be cleared by jumping), get your caster to cast levitate on you both, and then just levitate over the jump by running over the peak of the rock facing the other ledge, although I have not tried this, I think it will work.

Now, what you just did(If you didn't use levitate) was probably the hardest jump you will ever do in everquest.

Exploring:
Now, the fun part, you can get to many amazing heighths around rivervale by just getting to that one ledge, you can go and see where the rivervale waterfall comes from, and that there are actually rivervale rock golems running around the cliffs! Just kidding about the golems of course. There are many new places that I have explored, and they can be very scarey, or very interesting. But I would advise you NOT to jump off, just a little sensible advice.

Well, thats it for me, and if you think you might go and rock climb in rivervale, I'm glad you listened, and hopefully, you can get a-bazzilion miles above the TaggleFoot farmstead.
