Wood elves are a good race and have a lot of advantages ----- SOE has a problem though. The Wood Elf Cultural Forge in Kelethin is labeled Half Elf Forge, it does not let you do any Wood Elf Cultural Smithing.

Advantages of the Wood Elf

Advantages of the Wood Elf:

1) They start with Forage at 50, so while everyone else is skilling up in forage Wood Elves are already foraging items to sell in the baz, or for tradeskilling.
2) They start with Hide at 50, so they can hide while they meditate, etc.
3) Wood Elves can see in the dark, so toss out that space taking latern...
4) Wood Elves can wear more armor sizes than most races.

Advantages I have noticed while playing the following classes:

Warrior - agile and therefore harder to hit. Yes they have lower HP, but this is mitigated to a great degree by agility.

Bard - High charisma and again, agile. The Hide skill serves in a pinch to break charm. Granted not as reliable as invis, but works in a pinch.

Druid - Nobody looks better in leather. Oh yeah, and agility and charisma help in battle and when charming animals.

Ranger - High Dexterity/Agility helps in both Ranged and toe-to-toe combat.

Most of the stat related benefits listed are limited to the early levels when stat-enhancing equipment in scarce. After attaining good equipment most of this wont matter.

Finally, my reason for playing the Wood Elf has very little to do with any of what I just posted, I simply love the IDEA of being an elf - the lore, the look, the connection with nature, etc - and that makes playing this race even more important to me than any particular class. Also I enjoy the home city and its design. There are few better places to learn to run in a straight line...

I'd thoroughly recommend wood elf. As you get further into EQ, the base stats matter less and less as they're quickly maxed with items that are cheaper and cheaper due to the falling enconomy. The price of innate skills is priceless throughout. Wood elves are able forage, hide, and have night vision. Barbarians, on the other hand, have the innate ability to wear a skirt without looking too girly, and dark elves are able to stay in the sun longer.
RE: hi and plz help
# Feb 18 2006 at 7:57 PM Rating: Decent
Id personally say that barbarian or dark elf would be the best class for a rouge. Barbarian because STR/STA are highest and dark elf for a high AGI and not a bad DEX. A wood elf would proabably not be bad for a rouge..

Hi. I just started too. I am playing a wood elf ranger. I am currently only level 3. I think ranger may be worth considering. Check this site: http://members.shaw.ca/ceinwein/Ranger.htm for tips on how to play one.

Oh, and I also spent like 500pp on a 2h sword, only later to realize that WE Rangers aren't supposed to use 2h swords ("they do much better with 1h slashing").
Is there any 1h swords that I should use instead, or should I just keep the 2h one (I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure its DMG is 23; I can't get on EQ rite now).

Get up all of your weapon skills, 1HS, 1HB, 2HS, and 2HB. You never know what you'll come upon, or what will be added to the game, that you'll want to use.
RE: Where to next???
# Feb 13 2004 at 11:06 PM Rating: Decent
I strongly advise you to stay around Kelethin (CB) till lvl 15-16. It's not that hard you'll learn your way around. You can go to EC or Quenos Hills but you'll suffer on NPC selling prices in Freeport/Qeynos a lot while SFG has no bank & it means A LOT of running back & forth.

About 2HS: KEEP it! On higher levels 2-hander sometimes is a must. A lot of higher level mobs have DS + high ripost rate. Keep training your 2hs along dual wielding 1hs you'll need both. Good luck

Yes, the racial abilities cap at 50 though. So if you were a wood elf warrior, for example, who gets neither as a class ability, you would still get forage and hide, but they would start, AND stay at 50.

My wood elf DRUID on the other hand, has a forage of 200, since it is a class ability. Since he started with 50, due to race, it didn't start goign up, until I hit level 10.

The same thing would be true for a wood elf rogue, and the hide skill. Starts at 50, doesn't go up until you hit level 10, then goes up 5 points per level (if used) until it caps at 200 at lvl 39. The rogue would have forage, but it would stay at 50.

Hope this helps.

Quests for Wood Elf?

Hi all

why are all or at least the most of the earlier armor quests which are for druids only for halflings or half elves and not for wood elves?

There ARE quests for low lvl Wood Elf Druids. Seek out Aliafya Mistrunner in the Kelethin Druid Guild.

You say, 'Hail, Aliafya Mistrunner'

Aliafya Mistrunner says 'Pleased to meet you Ralen, I am Aliafya Mistrunner Preserver of Nature and loyal servant of Tunare. I have resided in this guild house for many of my years. I pride myself on being a mentor to many young druids of Tunare that come up through our ranks. If you are a [druid of Tunare] then I might have some work for you.'

You say, 'i am a druid of tunare'

Aliafya Mistrunner says 'I am always pleased to see new faces amongst us indeed Ralen. However, I must learn if you are loyal to your house and your god by asking you to complete a series of training exercises. These tests will enable you to learn your way around this great land we call home and to pick up some very valuable hunting skills that will aid you in all of your battles to come. When you are [ready to begin your training] I will present you with your Leafrunners Assembly Kit.'

You say, 'i am ready to begin my training'

Aliafya Mistrunner says 'Here is your Leafrunners Assembly Kit Ralen. In this kit you will place a number of [magical components] that will be infused together to create armor materials used to crafting Leafrunners Leather Armor. Once you have created the armor materials you will then take them to a loom along with the correct pattern to fashion together your armor piece.'

You say, 'what magical components'

Aliafya Mistrunner says 'The components you will need to collect for your armor will take you to all parts of the faydark. These items can be found on some of the deadliest creatures and also on some of our most trust worthy merchants. Once you are ready to begin creating your armor pieces simply tell me what piece you [want] to craft. I can provide you with the material recipes and patterns for Leafrunners [Caps], [Bracers], [Sleeves], [Boots], [Leggings], [Gloves] and [Tunics].'

You say, 'i want to craft (whatever piece you want)

Then, once you say what you would like to craft, she will tell you what she needs. Go out, get what you need, you then sow it together using the loom and you assembly kit. Use the loom near the orc lift. Go over two bridges from the orc lift and up the ramp and you should see a white loom. Combine all the items together and you should have your piece. But, I would still ask around in the game, about the last sowing part. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hope this helps. (Taken right here from Allakhazam)

Hubby and I both have woodelves and are working on our tradeskills. We are ready to start the cultural skills, but are unsure of the Fier`dal part. We have to smith our kits in the Fier`dal Forge, but haven't found any info on this. Where exactly is this forge, or am I just reading too much into it?

Hello tyanitenderfox and co :)
I am rather new to this also, but, I will try my best to explain.
The forge that you talk of is a royal forge that is specific for either class or a specefic item for armour. All cities have their own forges as well as normal forges that everyone could /can use. More info on this can be found if you study just on making armor, not only at this site but also other sites.
The forge that u refer too is in Kelethin and I would love to point you to it but I get lost where ever I go....lol Just have patience and look around, I think its on the third flr near the newbie lift. Also casters realm is another good site for finding things as well as links that may be assoc with the item of concern.
I am sure there are others out there who know more bout this??!!
Take care................Releb

I have a Vah Shir Beastlord and would like to try a Wood Elf. I am thinking about a Druid. Never played one. How hard are they? Any benefits or negatives? Is there a better class for a Wood Elf to choose and are there going to be tons of WE Druids when I start? I want to control the Wood Elf population (remember spay and neuter your Elf ;)

Thanks

Druids are fairly easy, and fun to play. Statswise, Halflings have a very slight advantage, but wood elves make very good druids.

Yes, there will be tons of WE druids in the zone.

Well, by a better class, it depends on what you mean. Druids travel very well. getting places is never a problem. They also solo well.

However, in dungeons, many of their spells don't work, and low ac and few HP make it easier to die in close quarters battles.

All depends on what you'll enjoy playing. Try one! If you don't like it, delete, and try something else.

WOOD ELF WARRIORS ROCK!!!
Smiley: bowdownSmiley: king
why you ask because they dont get as much hp or ac as the HUGE orge or troll?? well simple really.. dex and agi DUH Smiley: rolleyes !! Yes we don't get large amount of HP like other warrior classes. BUT LOOK AT A MONK Smiley: glare don't stare!! Well here is s monks train of thought "HAHA YOU MISSED ME!!! :P So what you big orges and bad trollies can take some damage and keep on kicking... big WHIPDEDO.. us elves ( dont forget the dark ones they good warriors too!!) We don't take damage very well (literaly) we DON'T get hit any where near as often as our big burly warrior friends. So once again haha you missed me. You can't die if you dont get hit thus wood elves make BAD **** WARRIORS trust me got one of my own..... (HINT: make female wood elf..... THEY ARE HOT!!! SO ARE THE DARK ELF ONES!! Smiley: inlove)

When I pass you on the street please... don't be scared!!! Smiley: yikes
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 25 2003 at 1:35 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Let me tell you about an idea i had one day. I was running through Grater faydark and i had accedently attacked a nexus at the wizzy spires. Needless to say that i was killed Instantly. I was extreamly mad because i lost my exp. Through my hatered i studied the creature and i devised the most extravagant scheme ever. I was wondering if my fellow Citizens of norrath would aid me. Darkies and Lighties come together in a mass horde to take one down. "What's in it for me" a person might ask. Well i think that not only the feeling you get from uniting with all of the inhabitants of norrath to squash a common evil but a great possibilty of an uber pay off and Extream exp or maybe nothing just a cold hard defeat.I am not really sure if they drop anything or if they even give exp. They are most likely the least killed Npc in the game. I have heard of one or two being killed but to my knowlage no loot has ever been identified. There are only a couple of reasons why i have not been able to find the loot items either 1. The uber guild who took one down came up with an awsome item that they dont want to get nerfed because of 1000000 crying lowbies saying its too powerfull so they did not add it to new item lists 2. None of them have ever been killed 3. Normal Loot for lvl of mob 4. No loot :( Now i am not really sure yet of the master plan but i am thinking along the lines of a massive head on attack group attack at random with no aperant stratagey.A person could even make a mule char and lvl to 5 or 6 toe just for this battle.Toe to Toe with the Unchecked Evil of the world. Or i have got a more methodical aproach. Either way i could be just stupid or really tired but that is my idea and i am willing to set up shop on any server. e-mail me at massive_nexus_strike@YHAOO.COM if you have any ideas, you want to join (( lvl is of no importance 1-65 doesnt matter Class either warriors clerics shaman monks i am in need of warm bodies :) )) or you just want to flame about how stupid i am either way i will welcome your emails and i will try my very best to email you back .No matter what it says. More information on nexus is always welcome. E-mail me and give it a chance.

The Scions are perma-rooted and melee, quickly, for 2k a hit.

No one absorbs, or heals, damage that quickly.

I've also never seen anyone successfully land a spell on one, nor have I ever seen anyone successfully reduce their hit points by more than 1% (the default reduction with a minimum 1hp of damage).

I have, however, seen lots of people die, quickly, trying to "take" one.

I'm pretty sure they're immortal, given that they're meant to hand out shards to make the Luclin spires take you to the Nexus. I do know, from experience, that all the NPCs in the Nexus itself are immortal, and ignore any combat action taken against them. They're also 100% immune to magic.
