The Iksar

race logoThe Iksar starts off in Cabilis in the continent of Kunark. Iksar are killed on sight by every other race in Norrath. What is the best strategy for playing a Iksar? What zones and cities should you take him to and which ones should you avoid? Which factions should you work on improving, and which factions should you be wary of decreasing? How can you safely play your Iksar beyond Kunark? What are the best quests for the beginning Iksar? Where are the best shops? How should you role play your Iksar?

Post your strategies on how to best play a Iksar, and read, rate and comment on those posted by others.

Getting Evil Faction
# Jul 08 2001 at 6:52 PM Rating: Decent
IF you want to get in good with the Evil races of Norrath, go to Crushbone (located of of GBay), then kill slaves (Dwarven, Elvish, Gnomish, etc). This will rase your Evil faction up. If you kill some Dwarven Slaves you get your Faction up with Ogres, although im not sure what faction goes up with the other races of slaves. Hope this helps.

I gave up on reading the rest of these post. Looks like this isn't being used for the design of this forum. Lots of waisted posting on how great each of you are and nothing about how to become a great Monk, SK, Nec. Just a bunch of kiddie posting's The webmaster might need to think about deleting post that have nothing to do with the topic.

You can allways tell when the kidds talk or post. They use CAPS and !!!! and RULZ.

Lets try and use the site and thre forums for what is should be.

I am an Iksar Warrior lvl 18 and I want to Travel to the Over There - which route should I take? and how not to get killed? this will be my first trip out of Cabilis - should I try traveling somewhere else first?

RE: Travel
# Jul 27 2001 at 4:36 PM Rating: Default
You may have found out already that the way posted is not safe & you have to travel through some high 20's mobs while zoning into OT with low 30's & high 20's mobs. You are 18 so this way should be safer for you, run west through WW you will see a trail that leads to the zone if you dont zone before that. You will zone into OT at the low 20's mobs area, much safer than than running through a zone full of mid to high 20's & then zoning into OT at the low 30's to high 20's area. Head north, you will see a "Mudpit" there is an Iskar merchant there that will sell most of the supplies you need. Good Luck & safe travels

The best way to get to the Overthere that I've found is through Lake of Ill omen, to Frontier mountains.. from the entrance zoneline between FM and LOIO run along the right wall till you get to the OT (overthere) zone. Just try and watch all around you fer Gobbies, some of those spell casters are really nasty if you dont have SOW.

iksar survival strategy
# Jun 30 2001 at 12:23 AM Rating: Excellent
Hail fellow iksar bretheren. I have found a truly effective way for an iksar to survive out of Kunark and on Antonica. But Cazic-forbid you must make friends with a 39+ Druid. Guild, family, however you would like to go about it. Upon my completion of level 5 my close druid friend ported me to the Karana's (with an invis mind you) and bound me right next to the wall at the zone edge in NQeynos. She gave me a pack of 80 food and 80 drink, and I fought my way to 16 in Blackburrow. Now you might ask "Where did you sell?". Go to WK and sneak around the barbarian village to a female merchant all gussied up in steel armor. Her name is Anala or something. She will con indifferent and sell to you. And as any good iksar knows, it takes much more than making Lvl16 on gnolls to enter Qeynos. Well, I hope you kept all those gnoll fangs! Have your druid friend escort you through Qeynos in WOLF FORM. Warning: Wolf form wears of when you hit zone. Well, once you have made it into the Warrior guild hand in those gnoll fangs 1 by 1 to Captain Tillin. Make sure to keep your moonstones. Note: If you are a warrior and you are in wolf form Captain Tillin will train you! Ok now you should be filled up to your ears in moonstones. Have your druid friend escort you into Fishes Ale with wolf form and invis. Get past Trumpy and friends and go up to McNeal Jocub. Hand in those moonstones like crazy! After you are done with this, not only have you gained a huge chunk of good faction, you have got some beer to party with your friends! And BTW did you leave anything in the bank back in Cabilis. You can bank in wolf form in Qeynos. Ok now, haul you scaly butt out of Qeynos, and have your good druid friend get you to Lake Rathe. Join some good aviak groups and get to 24. Note: You will not gain any faction from birds. Need a place to sell when you are encumbered from these bird's loot? Swim over to the orge camp. The orge merchant will sell you you. Well once you make 24, birds will con green to you. Ok, heres the painfull sting, head to the Karana's and kill bandit camps. You will be able to take on the camps by yourself. Downside. No XP. Then why did I send you out here. Not only do bandits give you Qeynos faction, they drop Bandits Sashes for yet another quest worth quite a bit of XP and cash. Once you are bored right straight through to the core, have your druid friend sneak you into Qeynos yet again, and go the the Temple of Thunder in SQeynos. When you first walk into the area you will see two men. One is a merchant and on is a human male in chainmail. Hand the sashes into the fellow in chainmail and his will give you serious Qeynos faction, PP, and bronze weapons/sheilds. Head outside to the gate of Qeynos and back away out the the guards argo ranges. Return into you iksar body and con the gaurds. If you worked hard they might con inddiferent to you. And in some cases you may have to return to BlackBurrow and work on you merchant faction. They roll out the red carpet for me when I stride into Qeynos. But, still, even if they regard you as an ally, there are still some unrepairable factions (i.e. Bards of Antonica, Currupt Qeynos Guards) and the fact remains you are still in danger, this strategy will enable you to have a small save heaven where you can sell and rest. (Watch out for the Monks). Plus, some things like training, and banking will still require wolf form. Who knows. Maybe if you put your iksar nose to the grindstone, you can turn any city you like into your paradise. This is the first step. Special thank to Darsha, my incredibly bored high level druid friend. If you have no clue where some of these locations mentioned in this strategy (for all you pure 100% iksar out there) go to www.eqatlas.com for some great maps. Muse does a wonderful job making these incredibly detailed maps. I hope you find this usefull, and look for Zevonath on Bristlebane!

check out misfire's post above (or might be below). He's right on target. I'm a L18 SK who has been doin' the bone chip circuit in Kurns since L13. Due to the time of day that I'm on, I've been soloing most of the time. at L13, you can solo the first couple of floors without too much trouble. Lots and lots of Greaters and regular scalebones. Also a secret room on the NE corner of the first floor where you can med/rest in peace. Once you get to about L15/L16 you can start soloing the top floors. The upper floors of Kurns should hold you till 18, at which time everything is pretty much green (with an occasional blue/black to keep you amused).

If you spend more time in a group, you can start a level or two earlier, and take on more skellies quicker.

Kurns has great xp, great loot, and of course more bone chips than you'll know what to do with.

You should have been hunting Kurns when you were around level 13. Hunt Kurns in groups. I know, youo are thinking 'if I group, exp and money is divided' right? That is true. But Don't forget the old adage: Strength in Numbers. Since you are grouped, you will be able to take yellows, and even reds, with very few problems. And that should help you level. Now, I have heard of people hunting Kurns well into thier 20's. I don't know how well that is. I am level 17, and at level 16 most everything was blue to me except in the deep basement. And to get there, I had to get through a bunch of annoying furbies. Anyway, if Kurns doesn't suit you so well, you could try the Lake of Ill Omen, Swamp of no Hope, or Warsliks Woods. I suggest you hold off on WW for a bit. Remember to group a bit. Garuntee you will like it. Nonetheless, Kurns is the best dungeun for everyone. Not to mention all the money you will save on bonechips! That is where 25% of my income is from is bone chips!

Go go Kurn's Tower. The first floor and upstairs areas are geared towards SK's and Necro's, so you shouldn't have any problems. The mobs drop more coin than in FoB, the xp is better (since it's a dungeon), and the mobs will drop armor on occassion. I stayed in Kurn's until about 23rd level.

Faction w/ RiverVale?
# Jun 22 2001 at 1:21 AM Rating: Decent
Hello:
Is it possible as a Iksar Monk to get a crap load of bandages and do that Bandage quest near RiverVale that raises faction by giving the dude outside RiverVale (near the druid circle I believe) 4 packs of 4 bandages each. And if once I raised my faction to good amount using this method would the RiverVale shopkeepers let me buy and sell from them? I have heard of Dark Elves doing this quest like 9 times or something and getting very good faction to the point where the halflings LOVE there Dark Elf evil selves :-) hehehe Plz email me the answer.
Faction!!!
# Jun 22 2001 at 12:32 AM Rating: Default
Why am I anonymous? Oh Well!

My question is about faction. I don't want to play with the other lowly races but would love to kill creatures in other areas for faction for the nearby cities. I was wondering if anyone had done this for fun and had an idea as to where to hunt and where to continue after one dungeon is played out. I was thinking of BlackBurrow until about 12-15 and then Warrens from 14-18 and so on to increase factions. I just can't seem to find what dungeons increase what cities. Anyone have any ideas, toss them this way please.

Thanks, now get out of here and kill something!

Yeah Tangrin must be it, and hes right near cabilis. If your looking at Kurn's from inside the pit, go up the ramp just to the left of it and follow that path down to the beach, and then look out to see and you'll see two islands, the one to the left is where Tangrin is, but be careful he's level 54!
