The Dwarf

race logoThe Dwarf starts off in the City of Kaladim, on the Continent of Faydwer. The typical dwarf hunts in the Butcherblock Mountains during his or her formative years. What is the best strategy for playing a Dwarf? What zones and cities should you take him to and which ones should you avoid? Which factions should you work on improving, and which factions should you be wary of decreasing? Is there a way to develop anough faction to be accepted in the good cities? What are the best quests in Kaladim for the beginning Dwarf? Where are the best shops in Kaladim? How should you role play your dwarf?

Money for Newb Dwarves
# Dec 21 2005 at 11:46 AM Rating: Decent
This may have been posted elsewhere but I found that while playing a Dwarf for the first time that Butcherblock can be a money making opportunity to the lower level character. All I can say is Goblins, they drop Green Goblin Heads and Green Goblin Blood Vials each of which sales for around 4 and a half plat to Dwarven merchants (when you are amiable to them) I see many Dwarves selling these things to the adventurer camp merchants and only making 4p at a time (loss of money) when the Dwarf merchant is a short hop away. Also the greenblood insignia's sale for roughly the same cost. I made 34 plat in just one camp clear of goblins. Highly recommended once you're above 8th level.

This is still valid as of 2006 reply. The wife and I made a move to a new server and went without transfering anything including platnum.
aside from all the free stuff that the game practally throws at you in the toutorial these days platnum for spells and such is still hard to come by. We started Dwarves and did find that the green Gobbies heads and blood vials do sell for a nice chunk of pp.

Saidly, this no longer works. I had heard about this and decided to see for my self. I grabed a Goblin Head/blood/Greenblood insignia and ran to the dwarf merchant (my charature is a dwarf rogue). Well...I only got a few silver for the insignia, and around 8 copper for the head/blood...

Dwarves!
# Jan 18 2004 at 7:37 AM Rating: Default
What other race has the two best classes?
Dwarven Knights of Brell
or the Dwarven Priests of Brell
Blessed be Brell for he created beer and ale
Some people call the gnomes-we know they are dwarven runts
Some people call them halfings-we know they are hairy footed dwarves
Some people call them ogres-we know they are dwarves with a thyroid problem.
DWARVES RULE!! BRELL IS BEST!
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 25 2003 at 1:31 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Let me tell you about an idea i had one day. I was running through Grater faydark and i had accedently attacked a nexus at the wizzy spires. Needless to say that i was killed Instantly. I was extreamly mad because i lost my exp. Through my hatered i studied the creature and i devised the most extravagant scheme ever. I was wondering if my fellow Citizens of norrath would aid me. Darkies and Lighties come together in a mass horde to take one down. "What's in it for me" a person might ask. Well i think that not only the feeling you get from uniting with all of the inhabitants of norrath to squash a common evil but a great possibilty of an uber pay off and Extream exp or maybe nothing just a cold hard defeat.I am not really sure if they drop anything or if they even give exp. They are most likely the least killed Npc in the game. I have heard of one or two being killed but to my knowlage no loot has ever been identified. There are only a couple of reasons why i have not been able to find the loot items either 1. The uber guild who took one down came up with an awsome item that they dont want to get nerfed because of 1000000 crying lowbies saying its too powerfull so they did not add it to new item lists 2. None of them have ever been killed 3. Normal Loot for lvl of mob 4. No loot :( Now i am not really sure yet of the master plan but i am thinking along the lines of a massive head on attack group attack at random with no aperant stratagey.A person could even make a mule char and lvl to 5 or 6 toe just for this battle.Toe to Toe with the Unchecked Evil of the world. Or i have got a more methodical aproach. Either way i could be just stupid or really tired but that is my idea and i am willing to set up shop on any server. e-mail me at massive_nexus_strike@YHAOO.COM if you have any ideas, you want to join (( lvl is of no importance 1-65 doesnt matter Class either warriors clerics shaman monks i am in need of warm bodies :) )) or you just want to flame about how stupid i am either way i will welcome your emails and i will try my very best to email you back .No matter what it says. More information on nexus is always welcome. E-mail me and give it a chance.

Well, i prefer dwarven warriors tpo other classes. You have good strength (not as good as trolls or ogers though), decent hit points, ok agility (not as good as halflings or elves), and they look cool. You can find me on the Luclin server. I am Khandagroh. You can most likely find me in the pub or attacking random bushes in a drunken fury. Peace all.

8 the level? You pay the same fee as a 65 and to Sony just as immportant, you'll be 65 before thay are 66 and without you Sony, a multi billion dollar corporation, would see a lagging Branch of the empire and pull the plug on SoE or Everquest, These companies don't like Steady money, they like increasing revinues. Withouts the 8's, or the 1's for that matter, 65's would be wiped out in one short blow.

This game has made an unsocialble machine into a get together of people from all over the world. 1 or 65 your just as big as contribution as anyone else.
Dwarven Paladins
# Feb 07 2003 at 4:43 PM Rating: Default
I have been an Evercrack fan and player for over 3 years now. In my best opinion, Elves may look cool in platemail, but given the starting stats for the different races that can be a Paladin, Dwarves are the better choice. Sure, we Dwarves may be short, but we are a heck of a lot stronger than any oter race that has Paladins, plus we can see in the dark, a good bonus above Human Paladins that have to have items or buffs to see in the dark. If you want to have a Paladin for a PC, choose one that can actually carry loot and wear plate armor at the same time. My lil ole Dwarf has one favorite saying, it goes like this: " Why to Elves have pointed ears? ... Well, there has to be some point to having an Elf m'friend. " he he he no real Paladin should worry about looking good in armor, but should worry about being good at their job. Sincerely Grumph Greybeard, Paladin of Brell, 36th Circle, Quellious

a really good place to get free {no drop} armor for dwarf pallies is thurgadin B. people normally don't bother looting it because of the no drop thing. just go in and ask groups if you can loot the dead bodies. normally the groups there for xp will say yes but occasionally you'll get grumpy people who'll charge you. just ignore them a loot around till you get the nice free armor. the only thing you'll need to worry about is the whole level 50 mobs thing

You should get more, and better armor, as soon as you can afford to or you win the roll on some. ALWAYS be looking to upgrade every slot, if the opportunity arises.

There are lots of armor types that would be upgrades from what you now have.

Use the equipment search to look for upgrades.

You want ac, hp sta, str and wis. In my opinion, in that order, with the exception that I would make getting to 100 stamina an immediate goal.
RE: Armour
# Jun 20 2003 at 9:23 PM Rating: Decent
A few pieces of crustacean shell armor can get someone easily to the 100 sta mark. I started with 105 STA, only using the shield and one bracer, and have 129 STA (may have a 5 SSTA item, but thats still quite a bit of extra STA from only two items). Every crusty piece lowers your CHA, but just unequip it if you need good prices when selling loot or buying vendor goods (such as food and drink in bulk). The armor is fairly cheap, so hope that helps!

Hunting levels 26-40 (luclin)
# Aug 31 2003 at 6:28 PM Rating: Decent
26-early 30's: My suggestion for this level is to hunt in HighKeep: Theres usually many people in there, and if you solo you can make decent ammounts of money (as with grouping). Fight everything in the dungeon/celler. You'll level up in no time
30s-40s (Luclin only): If you have Luclin you must go to DP, and get a group at GE or ME i think they are called, I wouldnt know I just started hunting today! My friend stayed there with his gnome rogue until his forties, and during your stay you can hunt lightcrawlers to make some Lightcrawler (Crafted i think its now called) armour, in case you havent been twinked or arent that rich) Just my opinion, and if you excuse me im getting back to hunt. Later!

Ok this is my situation. A friend of mine play EQ and i sometimes watch him play. Then one day he said hey why dont u give it a try. Well after 1 week i was hooked. I think i played for a total of 54 hours that week. Anyways. I Then decided to get my own account as my friend felt i was just visiting to play EQ ( which was partly true).

Well im getting my game sometime after christams cuss teh store was out and had to order it.

my friend promised that id get all the stuff i had collected transfered to my new charachter.

Im a Dwarf Paladin and in teh bank i have over 240 bone chips pluss some crush bone belts ( not many). I also have the complete Paladin armour ( newbie quest stuff) and a nice 2hs weapon. So should i start right of and use my 240 odd boine chips to level up or should i go hunting and then level up ???

Work on your skills max them out first for the level then use the bones to turn in as part of the quest.
I made the mistake of useing a bag full of bones on my dwarf warrior and before I knew it he was level 5 easy and he could not hit anything. It seemed to take a lot longer to catch up my skills up afterwards.

Ok, First of all, I play a Dwarf Warrior of Brell, Level 32, on the Tarew Marr Server. I cannot stress this enough. Work on ALL your weapon skills. Slash, Blunt, Pierce, both one and two hands. I know its a hassle, and you might prefer one type over another, but trust me. When you get higher levels, and you have been working on only your slashing, you will be mad at yourself when you find an Aggression, or a Heavy Velium War Lance. Put one point into each combat skill at level 1 and improve im combat. Save your other skill points for smithing, tailoring, and brewing. You will need them later on, trust me. When you hit 16, head up to Paludral Caverns in Luclin, great XP bonuses, and good groups from 16-24. Bind wound is a MUST for all classes. Out of mana, and need hitpoints fast, high Bind wounds helps. You bind yourself for 1/4 of your skill per bandage, so when you hit skill 100, you can bandage for 25hp. Thinking about Cultural Armor? Crank your smithing, brewing, and tailoring skills. Dual Weild at 13 is a must!!! Get High damage low delay weapons. Crystalline Spider Fangs and Centi Longswords rule. With great Dual weild and Double Attack skills, QUAD hits plus kicks for 50-250 Damage (that was at level 25) Get items that crank your Strength for mega damage, stamina for good hitpoints, and both Agility and Dexterity for Weapon Procs. I am hunting in the Great Divide myself Killing Frost Giants, Drakkel Dire Wolves, and Ancient Shardwurms. Going to pretty mch stay here until 45. Then its Kael Drakkel Raids and Velektors Labyrinth. Oh, and One last thing, GET A SUPPORTIVE GUILD!

You are not hiding. You tried to but at level 5 skill trying to conceal yourself behind a blade of grass is difficult. Keep trying. You will get better and get the message "You have hidden yourself". I think that's what it says. Keep practicing.

You can also hunt the three crazed goblins that are just to the east and south of the city from levels 30-35. For druids, you can snare and kite them. For rangers, you can snare, melee, and kite a bit if needed. They drop ringmail about half the time and the exp isn't bad either. Also, for those doing the pally quest, the blade of nobility drops here though it looks like a silver baton rather than a blade.

For those that solo, this is a great camp because they can be hunted one at a time and by the time you kill the third one (back behind the trees beyond the stone markers), the first one spawns again!

Good hunting!

I am a dwarven cleric. I have the disciple of Brell amulet. At the moment, I have Kindly faction in Thurgadin with the Coldain dwarves. I am in a BIGTIME roleplaying guild. Up to this point I have been roleplaying my character to be friendly with the Coldain, meanwhile my entire guild goes on raids to Skyshrine and WW and areas which would hurt my Coldain faction. I have been toying with the idea of switching to Giant faction, but would have to roleplay being a traitor to my Deity and race. Was just wonderin how other dwarves play ther faction game in velious?

Hunting in Skyshrine and Western Wastes will not hurt your Coldain faction, though it will destroy your CoV (Velious Dragons) faction.

I think deserting your deity in Norrath would get you the boot of said deity, with the consequences.
i.e. no spells and such.

All this would be RP wise, and wouldnt bother a "normal" player.

Why dont you try to convert your guildmembers, they should at least appreciate the RP effort. :)

However. the Scarab armor pieces are QUITE nice. for a new character... the helm is not great but matches the boots and the breastplate. But for AC and lvl to obtain without twinking the breastplate cant be beat.

I would say take the Paladin. Warriors are THE most boring class you can play. They have no strategy. They just go in, take the hits, can't cast spells, taunt, kick, bash, slice, whatever. However Pallies get to cast, can taunt and bash (no kick, but what's another 1 point of damage every 3 ticks?) and have the kewlest quests. Long live the Pallies!

it all depends on what you like to play. a fighter that can cast some spells or a straitout warrior that ONLY fights, taunts, kicks, bashes, and slams. (which i think rocks) in my opinion i'd rather be a warrior because if you really want to cast take a magician or a wizard. a dwarf fights. no matter what you say. sure the clerics can't fight so well but the othersrock while in battle. so i say go warrior and bring pride to our name or... don't and go palidan.
