Lotta talk on this board about dwarven pallies, fine - I'll not disparage any dwarven class but geez doesn't anybody play dwarven warriors. I'm 17th level wielding 2 vellium battlaxes and my group calls me the buzzsaw. We aren't barbarians or big ole trolls or ogres, but the idea of the grimfaced stalwart dwarf holding off the hordes - twin axes spinning - is something that appeals to me, if noone else. I've never had any complaints by my group and i can stand toe-to-toe w/any barb at my level. I crit alot (high dex?) and im dang hard to hit (80 ag). And despite what the pallies think, we warriors have more hp, more fighting related skills and are more offensively geared than a paladin. Each class has its place along with each race - the game is balanced in that manner. Nothin wrong w/pallies, they just aint warriors! Paladins have their own use - they can take as much as a warrior (lay on hands and buffs) but they cant dish out as much. Paladins are the defenders, warriors take the fight to the enemy!

I've seen a 52 dwarf paly duel a 51 dwarf warrior.

The paly only won becasue of the most perfect use of lay hands i've ever seen (he later told me he had only 24 HP when he used it, how he timed it that good... it had to be luck. no one is that exact in EQ, then again Kistletorf is damn good).

He also had his epic and some very nice planes gear while the warrior was still in stuff he probably used in his late 40's.

I would say that aside from Ogres, who clearly have the best warrior stats, Dwarfs come in tied for 2nd with barbarians and trolls. And the BIG edge?

1.) only one of those 4 that can wear small armor.

2.) their race has clerics, which are a blessing to any warrior.

All in all their a blast too play. Plus this is nothing funnier then a little dwarf screaming in as he chops a mob to bits. it's humorous...

... until you read the damage line and how much the mobs getting chewed up.

Go Dorf Warrior Go ;)
BEING A DWARF PALLY

I have had the pleasure and fun of attaining lvl 12 so far.... I was helped or "twinked" by a higher level friend (lvl 56 cleric and lvl 52 bard)when i reached lvl 9, he helped me pwrlvl to 12... at 12 "I" decided to stop because i knew that my lvl had out-paced my skill... I did this to enable me to start learning and developing some minor spells to help me and whatever group i am in. Currently my character is up to skill lvl equal to my character level. Being a pally i have really enjoyed helping others when i can... when i was hanging out near crush bone i often did minor healing or Lay Hands to other players without fighting.... also improving my casting skills. I found this helpful when a higher level character gave me a platinum fire emerald ring (+5 strength and +5 wisdom) as a thank you for Lay Hands as her character was almost dead. I am looking forward to developing my character as high as possible. if your o the Drinal server look me up... Somewheres......

Oh yeah, and is it better to spend money filling every inventory slot at the start? For say with cloth armor and things like that that only cost about 5 silver to 2 gold? I just purchased the game about 2 months ago and I still have alot of questions. Thanks for the help I appreciate it :)

I'm pretty sure your just s*** oughta luck man.

Don't think it's possible for iksars to get into the dwarf city no matter what they do.

Still if you want to try just go to the bestiary section here and look at differant mobs and their faction adjustment. I think their are some dwarf bandits in BB that you can kill to up faction with dwarf guards.

Have you tried selecting 4 bones (stacked or not, it doesn't matter) and clicking them onto him? (this will trigger the trade screen. Then select give to give them to him). This has worked for me, and I am a Dwarf Cleric. This has helped me fly from level 3 to 7 in roughly 7-8 hours of play time! Woo-hoo!

RE: Skills- Well... it would hav to be 1hs. Why? duel wield, double attack, cool 1hs'er epic.

RE: I need an alt- Starting a dwarf pally would be a great idea, i hav as my main :) As far as getting equip, how did your ranger get his stuff? U could twink the pally with your ranger, or get rusty weps from skellies, and save up enough newbie loot to buy some leather armor. All i can say is, dwarf pallys are very fun ti play, and pay off at high lvls. I hope this answered your question, but if it didnt, fell free to ask away.

Here is a little advice on your Dwarf Paladin. I killed bats and other newbie creatures outside Kaladim until level 2. I then made my way to the Newbie Lift near Kelethin. Collect bone chips (I collected 3 stacks) and turn them back in at the Paladin guild in Kaladim. This gives you good experience and items. If you are not into twinking your Paladin this is the best thing I can suggest. The trip to Kelethin maybe a little dangerous but stick to the path and all should go well. There always seem to be generous people in Kelethin helping newbies. Once you get to level 5 start working on Orc Hill and get those CB belts. This is the place to make a little extra PP to buy better items. I sold off large quantities for 1pp each before turning any belts into the Warriors guild in Kaladim. The danger with using these quests to gain quick experience is your skill levels don't keep up the pace. I am at level 8 and just starting to get my 1HS and 1HB caught up while my 2HS is about half way but I had to use training points to accomplish this feat. I hope this helps you out...

BB hunting
# Jul 31 2001 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
Greetings!

I’d like to let other aspiring adventurers know that there be fine hunting in the ButcherBlock Mts, by the crossroads between GF and DC. I’ve been in faithful service to the Mighty Brell Sereilis for a good six seasons now, and this area is just about right for this difficult stage in my training. It seems to me that lately the lands are either full of vile filth of trifling concerns or mighty beasts capable of sending me to my Master. This particular spot if full of evil I can take on alone.
I have received much aid from noble folk, Thundara, Relex and Blondbeard a mighty Paladin to name just a few. It is my Duty to come to those in need and my heartfelt desire to pass on the kindness shown unto me. If thou art ever in need of aid, send me a tell.

I have recently begun on the Sullon Zek Server and it is my 1st experience as playing a rogue. I leveled to 6 very fast doing 1 quest many, many times. Most dwarves already know about it but for those who don't I highly recommend trying it.
First, kill skunks, rats, bats, snakes, decaying skellies etc. Once you have enough money, buy a BP or a large bag. Immediately kill every decaying skelli you see, there is usualy a lot of competition for them. Save every bone chip you get. Once you get 28 or so, turn them all in stacks of four to the guy in the Paladin Guild. It is great XP, Great money for newbies, plus you get various armor and rusty weapons, and of course, faction.
I hope this helps someone become a succesful Dwarf and good luck to everyone.

P.S. send me a tell if you play on my server, it would be cool to partner up 8>)
My life as a Dwarf Paladin
# Jul 17 2001 at 2:28 AM Rating: Decent
The following is simply a reflection on being a dwarven paladin, it is simply my opinion and should be treated with the proper amount of discreation and so foth. I will also list my thoughts on the various pro's and cons of this particular combination.

I am a Dwarven Paladin of the 31st season by the way.

So yeah, I researched heavily the various class/race combinations of characters before I started up Rondov. The reasons I chose to be a Dwarf Paladin instead of, say, a High Elf or Erudite are as follows:
1.Dwarves have a high natural strength simmilar to Barbarians and thus can learn the offensive skills well and hit rather hard.
2.This, combined with the fact that Paladins have like either the 2nd or 3rd higherst number of HP's next to warriors of course, makes for an excellent tank if you like to melee. The warrior is an important part of this hybrid.
3.Nifty little casters. While dwarves do not have as much wisdom, and therefore less mana, as high elves, we can take care of ourselves and others pretty well. It has been my experience that by the time you get your lvl 22 light heal spell and have clarity/breeze, you are as good as a cleric providing you don't pull massive amounts of mobs.
4.The equipment ROCKS! seriously I love my ghoulbane, and the armor of ro looks really nice.
5.Roleplaying. A dwarven paladin provides a great chance of some really fun roleplaying, since as a dwarf you are destined to drink large quantities of ale (alc tol is the first thing I max out at each lvl) and as a paladin, the cleric side of you kicks in and you can be this holy little dwarf who runs around doing good deads for folks.
Remember that as a pally it is your sworn DUTY to help others.
6.Spells. While we do not have sow or some of the nukes like the other hybrids such as rangers, we do have a nice little arsonal of offensive spells , especially when fighting undead. I would strongly recomend that you spend many lvls (I was there from about 12-20) fighting in the Unrest. Paladins and Clerics get a nice exp bonus for killing undead so you can raise both your skills and levels quite quickly.
6.5 Other spells. As a paladin you also posses the abiltiy to buff the hell out of yourself and others, which makes you a much better tank and keeps your group stronger. It also saves the healers in your group some trouble when you can heal yourself a bit so they can keep the rest of the group alive hehehe. Also spells such as Root, Stun, Flash of Light(especially in duels) can really contribute when trying to fight off a train.
7. Lay of Hands. I cannot even count the number of times this ability has saved my ***.

The downside of being a Dwarf Paladin.

1.Dwarves will have a bit less mana than other paladin races, but this can be solved with equipment.
2.Dwarves will also have to spend a good deal of time building up faction with certain areas.
3.We don't get dual wield. While we cannot duel wield (just think of how great it would be to have both a ghoulbane and wurmslayer at the same time) what we lack in that area, we make up for in some badass weaponry that rangers cannot use. Paladin only weapons are really nice.
4.You have to work for pretty much everything that is a quest. It is frustrating to see lvl 20-25 bards and warriors with their lambent/crafted armor because they can achieve it at those lvls with a bit of help, I also have a lvl 23 warrior with crafted. Paladin armor (armor of Ro) can pretty much only be started at a minimum of lvl 30, but even that low you will need the assistance of a high lvl character.

Well, since this was a long enough post as it is, I will shut up for now. My name is Rondov Bloodstorm and I am on the Nameless server, so if you need any help or advice, send me a tell.

Another good place is Steamfront Mts., and hunt pumas, skeletons, female rats, etc. Pumas especially have good loot if you happen to get a HQ Cat Pelt and the infected livers from female rats can be used in the airtight box quest.

Hope this helps!

The best races for a rogue are barbs, trolls,or ogres.
Trolls and Ogres?
# Sep 26 2001 at 5:40 AM Rating: Decent
Unless this is a recent change, Trolls and Ogres CANNOT be a rogue. I do like Barbarian rogues, the natural slam (i.e. bash without need of a shield) is very nice, and the high str makes for high backstab damage.
