hey ogre sk, I am on Bertoluxxes as well, and I ran from Oggok to Neriak with no help, and not too much trouble with lv1 agnostic Ogre Warrior, I was killed by some sphinx first try, Akenmafoot or some such, can't remember the name exactly, and when I got to Neriak, assuming you mean the ghouls around the necromancer guild? I walked right past them without doing anything about faction. However, there was one or two guards to whom I was KOS, but most didn't pay me any attention. Also, almost everyone in the Necro guild was KOS for me. Hope that helps!

Is it possible to gain enough faction to enter kaladim for the belts and pads quests, and is it possible to gain enough faction to not be KOS by the elven guards in GF?

I have been killing orcs and gobs, but am still either scowled at (dwarves) or glared at (elves).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't hold me to this; but I have been told that if you kill dwarf bandits it will help your faction with the dwarf guards. I know for a fact that if you keep killing Orcs in Gfay, then the elves will start liking you.

Since you are an Ogre though, shouldn't you be eating dwarves and elves like me? ;-)

Killing orcs in Gfay I believe will lower faction with dark elves. If you want to do any tradeskilling at all you will need unrestricted access to Neriak since Oggok and Grobb are a bit limited. As an ogre Id recommend remaining friends ( or atleast not KoS ) to dark elves. Tradeskills may not interest you now, but one day you may need them for quests or to help out your guild.

I posted this elsewhere; but thought it should have a title all it's own. Really valuable information for the aspiring ogre.
-------------------------------------------------
I think Nektulos is much better to level as an Ogre. Quick run to the north at level one since you have nothing to lose, get bound, and commence to making money and levels. Yep, that's right: MONEY.

I killed all the spiderlings and dawgs I could get my rusty two-hander to split open and within TWO days of about 5 hours play each I was level 6 and had made almost 200 Platinum coin. That's right, 200 Plat. Killing decaying skellies and selling the chips is a pretty good way to make money; but there is a better way. Save the chips (for when you start summoning your own pet if a Shadowknight) and make LEATHER PADDING. What is leather padding? Let me explain.

To make leather padding you have to be a pretty good tailor. Start out by placing one of your starting points at first level into Tailoring. Then, when you kill spiderlings, take the spiderling silk and put two together to make silk thread; which I think is impossible to fail at because I never once did. Make as many stacks of silk thread as you can kill the little buggers (while gaining xp). You also want to kill as many wolves (and later bears) as you can. Don't make anything out of the hides yet though; just get as many stacks as you can.

After you have gotten your tailoring up to at least a ten or so, start making silk swatches (which you can make silk armor for monks and casters later) out of regular spider silk. This should help your skill raise even higher. Once you have gotten your skill to at least a 25, whether using points at new levels or just by practice, you can start making armor pieces from the old ruined bear hides you have gathered (you can actually start sooner if you like). You can find the patterns you will need in the Ogre/Troll section of the First Gate in Neriak. You can also purchase your small sewing kit here. This way you can outfit yourself in some armor and raise your skill even higher. By the time you have killed critters enough to get to sixth level and gained about a skill of 30 at least in tailoring; it is time to make money.

You will most likely need a skinning knife; so ask around to get one. I got mine off of a Dark Elf Necro for 2 stacks of bones; but don't really know where you can get one without making it yourself (which I couldn't). You need the knife to make the hides you have WORSE (combine the knife and the hide in your sewing kit and combine). Yep, worse. What you need are as many LOW QUALITY pelts as you can get; not ruined, LOW quality. Do NOT decrease HIGH QUALITY BEAR pelts however. They are worth a good amount of platinum to people who make handmade backpacks that have 10 slots and weight reduction (which at one time sold for 80PP each on my server; but are now going for only about 50PP). I decided to keep all my High Quality Bear for myself and plan to later make several Handmade packs for myself when I get my tailoring well over 100.

Now that you have several stacks of spiderling silk and low quality pelts of any kind; it is time to make Leather Padding. All you have to do is combine a single silk thread with a single low quality pelt in your sewing kit; and viola: a piece of leather padding (I did have a few failures here, so be patient; even though each failure basically costs you 5PP). Make as many stacks of this stuff as you can for one simple reason: each stack is worth about 100 Platinum pieces. I had made two stacks by the time I reached mid-sixth level and was well on my way to a third.

After you have made all the leather padding you can; go to East Commons (unless you are on a PvP server) and auction them off. They may go quickly; unless nobody needs them at the time. People who make plate armors and such need leather padding as one of the ingredients; so it is very valuable. A very good way for low level ogres to get a good start.

I purchased an Axe of the Ironback and a full suit of Banded Armor for my Ogre Shadowknight before I reached 7th level without being twinked; and had a good bit of Platinum left for purchasing all the spells I would need for later with plenty to spare. It feels really good to be legitimate with my character; and I've went back once since then to make a quick 100 plat this way. Not to mention that casters and monks both pay a decent amount for the silk armor you can make them since your tailoring is getting better. ;-)

I hope this helps starting Ogres to make some cash; and I KNOW it works, so give it a try. Heck, even if you aren't starting out it is a good way to make money. I have a friend who plays a dwarf that went to Halas and made over 20 stacks of this stuff and is now quite well off! Not going to go to Everfrost with an Ogre though. ;-)

Good luck to you.

Thinking more on where I want to go with my Ogre Shadowknight now that I'm approaching 20th level; I started thinking about Kunark. How possible is it for evil NPCs to get really good faction with the Iksar and be able to enter their city?

I'm playing my Ogre SK as a true evil monster, so I don't care about hurting my faction with any good races. The only cities besides Ogguk, Grobb, and Neriak I care about are Freeport (not north since I plan to kill Paladins there) and now New Cabalis. Maybe later Paineel or something; but not sure.

I would really appreciate any tips on ways to work myself into the Iksar city and good places to hunt in Kunark. Also, on a side note, is there a possible way to gain faction with the Orcs of Crushbone? Yes, WITH the Orcs. I want to go in there and just kill as many slaves as I can get my dirty claws on. ;-)

On a totally different topic: Am I the only person who gets tired of even Ogres with well over 100 INT being called dumb? The smartest dwarf or Barbarian is only going to be just as smart as the smartest ogre; all three have the same base INT I'm pretty sure. And I'm pretty dang sure I haven't met a dwarf yet with over a 90 INT, or Barbarian either! I've always thought of my Ogre Shadowknight as more like a AD&D Ogre-Magi instead of a lumbering idiot.

Castersrealm just posted the new ogre models.

Not sure how i feel about them, i kinda grew to like the big ol round bastards that i call my ogre friends. They could kick the crap oughta whatever was agged on me, and when they taunted, the MoB KNEW it. And that big ol round gut meant they could drink ANYONE under the table. Yes, even Dorfs. And that was when they weren't PvP winning over any other warrior race assuming gear was even...

Now i just don't know. On the pic the ogre looks like, well, a bald overgrown barbarian.

Trimmed, more dense muscle, but now they look like body builders. Leave that to the barby's. Show over substances is what made them tied for SECOND best tank.

Before, Ogres, they looked like Powerlifters. And who's stronger, the powerlifter or the body builder?

If you want to gain faction in North Freeport (which as an evil ol' Ogre you shouldn't) just kill tons of Orcs in East Commons (even the Pawns give you the good faction). To get faction with the Militia of East and West Freeport I have been told kill the Orcs (which will give you faction with the Paladins of North Freeport anyway) to collect as many Deathfist Slashed Belts as you can possibly carry and (after being changed into a wolf by someone) take them to the Guard Captain in West Freeport at the Militia House. He is out on the Balcony at the back. Giving him the belts will lower your faction with the Paladins in North Freeport again; but if you are set on being able to go to the bank in North Freeport, just go out and kill more orcs in East Commons.

I'm not positive the Wolf Form will protect you from getting killed though; but I am soon going to try it myself after I have collected as many Belts as will fit in 7 backpacks! :-) I'll let you know how it goes.

i got an idea... why not go to nexus and head over to faydwer... then you could go to CB for a bit... raise faction with the tree city and dwarves that way you could use the boat and get to freeport, OOT, TimDeep, and FV at later levels... my best guess would prolly be CB because you would be heading there one way or another and if you get good faction, you won't be KOS...it took me 10 levels <WOW!!!> to go from indifferent to ally with dwarven guards <it'll come in handy when the enraged gobby's get pulled and kick your ***>... OR head to lesser faydark and them steamfont and fight the minotaurs... wait, nevermind, that is gnome faction... kobolds in steamfont is pretty good... dagnor's keep... faydwer is good for newbies to high teens... once you hit 20, leave faydwer and head back to SRo... hope this helps you
RE: Level 8 Shammie needs some advice

You can solo the orcs and snakes and such in S Ro if you're careful. Just don't try anything over on the sand for a while yet. Mobs get pretty tough pretty quick there. You can also make the run to N Ro or the Commons (be careful going thru S Ro sands, and the Oasis) and you'll find decent hunting. The only disadvantage to this is that you'll be kos to al the guards there. My advice is to try to find groups in S Ro until about level 12 or so. Then you can safely solo pairs of orcs and the bigger spiders until level 14 or so, where you can go to oasis and find groups. There's usually someone camping the orc camps in S Ro and if they're at all knowledgeable, they'll welcome a shaman and his buffs into the group.

Got him from lvl 1-6 in like 3 hours. At lvl 5 you go into blackburrow, you get good exp and good faction towards halas and qeynos. ok about the boat question. i was on the boat when we reached sis. isle. i was on the boat walked towards the dock (didnt leave the boat at any time guess i just got to close) and was killed. rule 1) dont die on boats, when they cross next zone your corpse falls into ocean .
rule 2)stay as far from the docks in light race aka. kos ports, jump off the boat when you see the docks and swim to a safe area.
if you follow these rules you should be safe taking the boat. and yes they will come on the boat =(. took me 3 and 1/2 hours to find a kind necro to summ. my corpse. take care and travel safe. get a port and a camo. = )

yooz dont understand, guards in north and south FP be not liken each other. south guards work with thieves. north guards hate south guards. if yooz want to get to bank, use da tunnel. tunnel hide at corner in wall to da left of each gate. walk with head against wall, yooz find it. tunnel on west gate side will takes yooz to da NFP. tunnel on south gate side take yooz to boat, me hear. if yooz want to getz in good with da north guards, kill south guards.
BUTZZZZZ it not worth da trouble--- yooz gonna see alot more south guards in yoorz travels, yooz gonna want to bind outside FP near southies, southies all over da Commons.
