When your new character enters the world for the first time, you might get this message:

Maesyn Trueshot strings his bow as you orient yourself amongst the treetop city of Kelethin. 'Greetings, young recruit. Should you wish to learn the ways of the Ranger, read the note in your inventory and hand it to me when you are ready to begin your training.'

Your new character comes with Tattered Note in inventory. Right-clicking this note opens a scroll which reads: "Hail young woodsman. If you wish to learn the ways of the Ranger, then join Faydark's Champions. Give this note to Master Ranger Maesyn Trueshot, and he will train you well."

Maesyn Trueshot is the Ranger Guildmaster standing in front of you. Upon handing your Tattered Note to him, you receive Dirty Green Tunic* and the following faction adjustments:
