Note: You can do turn-ins for this quest as low as dubious (he just won't talk to you).

Find Lieutenant Milven at the zone in from WL, go through the first gate, turn right, go up the stairs, he's right there.

You say, 'Hail, Lieutenant Milven'

Lieutenant Milven says 'Hmm, the guards at the gate sent a _____ to assist with the rampant problems? They shall have to be replaced with functional sentries so this does not occur again, but that is another matter for later.'

You say, 'What rampant problems?'

Lieutenant Milven says 'I trust that what is said here will not be repeated to outsiders, yes? Good. For some time now, we've been fortifying our position in the shrine to fend off giant attacks as they come. Though there hasn't been a major engagement between the shrine and the giants for quite some time, there have been strafing runs done by them in an attempt to test us. If you're up for it, I have a mission I need someone new to the shrine to complete.'

You say, 'What mission?'

Lieutenant Milven says 'We've been looking for someone that isn't from the shrine to find some of the giants that have been on these strafing runs and have them eliminated. You're of the perfect ilk because they will not recognize you as a friend to the shrine. Once you pry their steel-plated helms from their cold, dead heads and bring them back to me, your worth will be proven and you may show promise as an ally to the shrine.'

Upon turning in a Giant Warrior Helmet:

Lieutenant Milven says 'Well done, _____. You are proving to be worth the risk of sending a new recruit out on a mission such as this. If you feel this is the type of mission you're best suited for, feel free to slay more of these beasts and return their helmets to me. The fewer giants there are out there, the less chance they can continue their random attacks against us. I also may have another assignment for you if you're interested.'

Your faction standing with Claws of Veeshan has been adjusted by 15.
Your faction standing with Yelinak has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Kromzek has been adjusted by -7.
You gain experience!!

Lt Milven
# Feb 22 2003 at 10:02 PM Rating: Decent
If you hail Lt. Milven he will give you the typical "you have to prove yourself" speech and he will say nothing else. Just go ahead and hand him your helms and toes you will get the faction hits and an infinitesmal amount of XP.
Wolf Form

In Velious zones Wolf form lowers your faction, so if your kos wolf form will only make them hate you more.

I don't think you would be able to turn into a wolf in Skyshrine since its an indoor zone I believe.

I could swear Skyshrine used to be indoor, but it's outdoor now. Maybe they decided to allow SoWing for that long run up to Yelinak.

I turned in 18 helmets and 5 toes today. I went from warmly to warmly. Seems either broken or nerfed to hell.

Here's a hint go to Cobalt Scar & con a wyvern then cast wolf form and con again.... If this exercise doesn't answer your question - Happy CR.

At 52 id say just join a good Kael group or sit in on a ring war or 6, they raise your CoV faction, its slow going, but better then banking that they arent KoS to you in wolf form.
Finding the Sentries
# Jan 02 2003 at 12:05 PM Rating: Good
Finding the sentries was the hardest part of this quest. The warrior helmets are fairly common drops in Kael, and can drop off most any giant down there.

The sentries, Kcor and Enots, are the sentries guarding the entrance to skyshrine from Wakening Lands. If you come in from cobalt scar, it is easiest to just lessor succor to that zone line.

I had indifferent faction upon arrival to Skyshrine, and after handing in maybe a dozen helmets I was Amiable. I did not have to zone out to see the change in my faction. Also, just for clarification, you do hand in the helmets one at a time.

Hope this is useful, helpful, and relevant!

Freyan states that you have to turn the helmets in one at a time,, this is incorrect.
You can tuen in up to 4 helmets and get a faction up message for each helmet that you turned in as well as the usual plat.

Freyan, you forgot to read the posts below, the zone has been changed as of Nov 2002 and there is no longer a Sentry Kcor & Enots as the info above gives. The new Turn-in NPC for the Helms is Lt. Milven who is not very far away from the old spot. Just down the hall and up the stairs near where you used to kill that mob for the keys, not sure if that's changed either but I dont need a key anymore =0)

Anyway, It's Lt Milven now, not Sentry Kcor or Enots, Milven is just down the hall and up the stairs. You'll find him =0)

No. However, turning in the helmets in Icewell Keep (can't remember the quest NPC off the top of my head) will give faction boots with the Coldain.
Decent faction boost, actually

I don't have much to compare it to(since I{ never did this quest before they changed the zone), but I handed in 33 helms and faction went from Apprehensive --> Kindly. I'm going back to hand in another 15-20 helms and see where that gets me...going to try toes too, havent tried those yet. Just wanted to let you know that the faction boost seems fair.

Kindly to Kindly???
# Dec 04 2002 at 11:10 AM Rating: Decent
When I see posts that they did the faction quest many times and went from kindly to kindly, did you guys zone and then check your faction or you just staying in zone and checking faction?

I am worried about handing in a lot of stuff and not getting any faction adjustment.

LOC of Lt Milven. still cant find
# Dec 02 2002 at 8:21 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I need a little more help..rather expansion on things already discussed.
I can't seem to find Lt Milven ANYWHERE. I went through 1st gate(btw, which gate is 1st?) and made immediate right and...the only black drakes I see are Sentry Kale in 1st room, and (something) Whisperwing in the 2nd room.
The 1st gate thing confuses me, since there's gates all over the zone. 2 off zone-in from CS, another near zone to WL, another near stairs to Aged Golem area, and many more.

Can anyone explain where Lt Milven is, to someone who doesnt know this zone at all? Thanks in advance =)

Walk straight in from WL, thru the single gate there. You come to a T, turn right. Follow the hall and Lieutenant Milven is the black dragon hovering there in the little room with 2 translucent gargoyles, named Lookout Moblen and Lookout Penter. His precise /loc is pos200, neg765.

And to further explain everything to everyone else, all in one post... I just got my faction to dubious after several hours in the Arena, and he won't respond to hails (he'll call you a talking pile of refuse, and the like). If you sneak, making your faction indifferent, he will still say you need to prove yourself. **This does not mean he won't take the helms or the toes.** While sneaking, I still gave him a helm to see if it would work, and it did, and so did the toes. Didn't want to try it without sneak, so I don't know if that will work, but I know that sneaking definitely will.

EDIT - As the reply to my post says, as long as you aren't KoS, you don't need to sneak to turn in helms.

And on another note, sometimes people kill this guy. If you follow my directions and still can't find him, this is probably the case. I don't know respawn time, but it didn't seem long because I went there one night and there were others waiting for him to respawn who said he was killed a little while before I got there and he respawned shortly after that (maybe 5-10 minutes).

To add to this, as soon as I became dubious in Skyshrine, I started taking toes and helms to Lt Milven. There is no need to sneak to give them to him. He will not talk to you, but will happily take the items and give you money and faction for them.

After a couple of helms and countless toes, I'm finally up to high apprehensive and still going.

loc of Lt Milven?
# Nov 23 2002 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
Can anyone confirm that Lt Milven *IS* the person you hand in the faction helms to? and if so, where is he? I'm currently camped in the upper area(on E'Ci) -- I've been running around seemingly everywhere and can't seem to find him. I'm also encumbered during all this, adding insult to injury ;/ Can anyone help? I have 10 helms that I'd like to get rid of, so i Can turn in some armor that i have. Anyone?

Yes. Hes right next to where the shrine key guy was. he takes toes too...
less faction
# Nov 22 2002 at 9:02 PM Rating: Decent
I handed in 10 helmets to Ltn. Milven (spelling?) and went from dubious to ... dubious. Before they changed the zone I went from scowls to dubious with 10 helms.

So it gives less faction and is possibly a worthless guest now.

New helm guy
# Nov 21 2002 at 4:48 PM Rating: Decent
I found the guy who give the new helm quest up where the key to CS used to be. Come in turn right at gate. Go up steps and turn left into the small room. I don't remember his name though.
WTF WTF WTF F you Verant.

Well, since Verant felt it was in their best opinion to not only ***** up and change the maze, but change this quest NPC... all I have to say is ***** you too Verant. Anyone know who you turn in the helmets, if you even can, to now?

New Quest NPC
# Nov 03 2002 at 3:36 AM Rating: Good
You have to talk to Lieutenant Milven now for a similar quests. He takes singly helms, and returns xp and faction. He is located in the first room, after taking a right from the gate. A black drake, you can not miss him.

If you say "what mission" he basically tells you he will return faction for them.
Need a /loc please!

What Happened
# Oct 03 2002 at 10:07 AM Rating: Decent
Where did this quest go? Since the last patch, I have not seen Kcor anywhere and none of the NPC's in the zone will talk to me. My faction is Amiable too.
Faction in general
# Aug 25 2002 at 10:50 PM Rating: Decent
Was max neg cov, not sure but RTA yelinak, but i decided to switch.....recently tagged Vindi and AoW for faction hits while another guild was taking him out.....after both hits and about 500 storm/frost kills, and 10 toes, still RTA to cov, but i did go Kindly => threat with storm and dubious to threat with frost, hoping to move up to threat soon so that i see some change =)

Yes you can alter your faction to go from good to bad or (even harder) from bad to good. I have an agnostic Dark Elf wizard who is not only tolerated in every good city but can even train in Erudin, Qeynos and most importantly Felwithe. Yes a Dark Elf wizard can train in Felwithe. If you are thinking about altering your faction you need to be prepared for an extremely long and hard quest of doing nothing but faction building. It also helps to have a druid friend so you can wolf form to do faction building quests. In short faction changing isn't easy but it can be very rewarding in the end!

Wolf worm will work if something hates your race more than they hate wolves.

Rivervale and Misty thicket for instance (if talking dark elves vs wolves).

But that only changes the race issues. If you worship, say, Cazic Thule you might still have problems in some places no matter what race you are.
